haha for Z1 u only need to know how to play with ISO since aperture and shutter speed set by the camera.
You can play around with exposure comp too if your pic happen to be too bright or too dark.
Next is learn how to focus properly. Sometime camera fail to focus properly and resulted no sharp photo especially when you're doing macro.
the A-F srsly get on my nerves at time. So most of the time i'll just refocus and snap a few more picture till i get a satisfied one.
If only Sony bundled the camera app with Pro mode that can adjust the ISO, shutter time (exposure) and the focus, similar to the Nokia 1020.
The closest 3rd party app i can get is the Camera FV5. Still buggy as it doesnt use the ISO ive choose. But it allow me to shoot in macro mode with longer shutter speed (0.8" sec) with ISO50 in 20mp, which produce great result when you have tripod to utilise.
The longest shutter speed that the Sony stock can shoot at 1/8" sec, with the ability to shoot at variable ISO settings by changing the exposure settings. The only way stock app to shoot at 0.8" sec is use the Firework settings from the SCN mode. Then again choosing SCN mode limits the camera to shoot at 8mp.
