QUOTE(Hattori @ Oct 24 2013, 01:34 PM) The reason why some USB charging doesn't work : Be careful when using this.. This is use to check whether you connected to wall charger or PC. Since PC only able to output 0.5A, using this cable the phone maybe (depend on circuitry in phone) try to pull more than 0.5A which can burn you motherboard. Some motherboard do able to output higher power such as gigabyte and macbook pro.http://www.snapturtle.com/wp/2012/02/22/ps...harging-solved/ ![]() Need to short circuit the data connectors on the device side, so that the device will detect this short circuit as an indicator (non-data connector [charging only]) to disable the current limiter to allow maximum charge to be drawn by the device. But if the USB cable is connected to the dock charging port, then you need a high current (> 1A) to charge the Z1 when it is off, and even higher current to charge Z1 when it is turned on, which the PC USB ports (0.5A) can't provide. Even the dock manual said do not plug the usb to computer, and use wall plug. Faster and slow charging mostly depend on power output. Sony original wall plug output 1.5A which take about 2 hour to complete the charge. 0.5A computer usb will take up to 6 hour. |

QUOTE(vandechrome @ Oct 24 2013, 03:55 PM) what about ampere? i believe that one also would give some impact to the battery if you are not using the right one. Ampere just need to make sure the source is higher than the device. Let's said you use ipad charger which is 2.1A. if the device just need to use 1A, it's will draw 1A only. If the device required 2A and you use 1A source than it's will not charge or worse you can damage the device or power plug. But not to worry for USB based device most of the device got protection circuit. Because USB spec is 0.5A only, so the device need to be intelligent to know whether it's connected to computer or not because it's design to be connected to PC for data transfers and also to wall charger for faster charge time.
