Tested the demo unit at The Curve yesterday. Indoor shots not much different than Nexus 4. Outdoor should be better (can't test because tethered to display booth). When compared side-by side with an aging Lumia 920 GDR2, the latter still excels at indoor shots. And the Xchange program is horse crap. 1 month old Z only offer RM 900 max.

QUOTE(nerd @ Oct 11 2013, 11:32 AM) Sorry but coming from a Nexus 4, I have to disagree. Stock Android's camera driver is rubbish. Z1's camera is so much better. Stock app is always crap and everyone knows that. I too come from N4 and before that GN. Maybe it is the indoor lighting but I'm not satisfied with the images despite having good lens and 20MP. Let's wait and see what 3rd party can cough up with something better. The only thing the Nexus 4 does better is photo sphere - fantastic and easy to use. Sony's one is rubbish |

QUOTE(jloi @ Oct 11 2013, 11:40 AM) Given the Z1 sensor only 1/2.3" VS normal mobile camera sensor which is 1/3", dun expect a huge difference la. But my el-cheapo Panasonic S1 produce better indoor shots than the Z1. I suspect Sony need to tweak the firmware first.1/2.3" is normal consumer compact camera sensor size, so expecting Z1 performance = compact camera. |
