QUOTE(ronint @ Oct 26 2013, 09:20 AM) UPDATE: Your phone got nfc problem? Not sure any of you remember but here is an update on my replacement Z1. Went to the service center after getting a call telling me that the replacement phone has arrived. Waited for about 30mins for them to do paper work b4 getting the replacement phone. Once i got it sat down and tested it extensively at the service center. I noticed that the screen is a little bit more yellowish compared to my current 1. Inform the service center girl that the screen on this is yellowish. She did a test and confirm yes it is yellowish and will go and get me another 1. This time they did a s/w update and it seems the screen went even more yellowish that the last. So she went back and got another 1 this time no s/w update. It could not even turn on! Did a s/w update and still yellowish. They have must brought out 3-4 Z1 and all of them have the yellowish screen with /without the update. They told me that this are the 2nd batch of Z1 that Dynamics sent to them and it seems they are more yellowish than the first batch and worst after the .257 update. By that time it was already 6.30pm and I could not call the call center as they were already closed. The service center frontdesk suggested that I wait for their parts and tools to arrive so that they can fix my NFC. I reluctantly left empty handed. This morning called the call center and spoke to the manager that was assigned to my case and he promised to have the service center to order a diff batch and test the screen b4 calling me to collect. So looks like i need to wait another week. I actually quite happy with the phone my first Sony smartphone. So far customer service has been OK but i really pray that the next batch will not have those awful yellowish screen. Sorry for the long essay thought i update u guys on this.javascript:emoticon(':)') |

QUOTE(ronint @ Oct 26 2013, 11:55 AM) Haha dun get me wrong service is OK so far however I do think I am within my consumer rights to make little bit of noise if the product i bought is not working as it supposed to within 1 week of purchasing it. Yeah consider ok la. Because of nfc they still willing to exchange 1 to 1. Others I think will ask you to wait for the parts. |

QUOTE(evilhomura89 @ Oct 26 2013, 12:53 PM) i guess we're really used to it Sometimes I think it's just psychology. When someone complain about it, it's natural that we all will take extra attention on it and make side by side comparison.perhaps the updates did decrease it by a lil nonetheless without comparison, it's hard to notice the yellow tint Without taking attention on it, the screen actually looks great. It's not a serious issue at all. Just maybe some are more serious than others. People have been using greenish amoled screen for years... And can confirm to say the latest s4 screen is not entirely white as well. Still no complain... This post has been edited by ckchan: Oct 26 2013, 01:39 PM |

QUOTE(shazzmania @ Oct 26 2013, 09:19 PM) thinking of flashing the SG version too. I've flashed the global version before because can't wait for the MY version lol I'll say the SG version is very close and similar to MY version. It also does not have the bug of nfc icon not showing in the status bar.And when I dial up the service menu, the fw version still is showing global version. |

QUOTE(evilhomura89 @ Oct 26 2013, 11:43 PM) I think the firmware are mainly based on the global version Maybe you are right. That's why it's better to flash global fw. Or in this case I think the SG version is closer to MY version than the journalist version. The differences is determined by the customization number..the customization also will determine the region for ur phone and whether it is a generic firmware or a specifically branded telco firmware For Z1, I have yet to find anyone sharing all the available customization number and it's region/branding For reference purpose, you can have a look at the Z customization number list - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315914 Correct me if my understanding is wrong here... So whenever Sony releases a new firmware, they get to decide which customization number will get the update first So if you guys rmb during the early days of .257, it was the journalist/commercial customization number that got the earliest update. And those who decide to flash it manually ended up with the journalist/commercial version But at the end I'm still use to flashing latest fw cos impatient to wait. Malaysia always quite late to get updates |
