Well, I got accepted by Company A and Company B phone me for interview. How do I reject them politely so that I can keep the door open? What is the best way of declining an interview? phone them or email? Experienced one please help!

---------------------------------
What is SOCSO and EPF? Well, I know just some of the basic stuff. How about other documents needed during the employment? promised salary black/white paper? I m not sure!

also in the same time, I'd like to thank the following peeps: Mavik, dreamer101, jsm, JobListed , etc for contributing to the Standard Questions during Interview, Resume & Cover Letters and Interview: What to prepare threads.

I was invited by a company to attend 2nd interview tommorow.

WHAT IS SOCSO

If your first salary is below RM2000, it is compulsory for you to subscript to SOCSO. SOCSO is like an insurance, providing social security protection inlucding medical and cahs benefits, provision of artificial aids and rehabilition, financial guarantees and protection to your family in case you got injurt or die during employment.

Once you registered SOCSO, you will have to pay the monthly fees till you stop working even if your salary is higher than RM2000 later.

Those whose salary exceed RM2000 when first start working will not be covered.

WHAT IS EPF
EPF is a compulsory saving scheme to provide the employees security for old age retirement. 11% of the empoyee's salary will be deducted to contribute to the fund every month, on top of that, your employer have to contribute a further 12% (not deduct from your salary, but an extra 12% of your monthly salary).

EMPLOYMENT DOCUMENTS
These would include:
Letter of Offer: sets our your initial salary, probation period, termination notice etc
Letter of Confirmation: confirm your employment, give you an increment (if the boss is nice)
Employment Contract: sets out all the employment rules including salary, bonus, increment, termination notice etc

Remember, if your salary is below RM1,500 you need not be worried about the Employment Contract as your basic right is protected by the Employment Act. If you are earning more than RM1,500 read the contract with a magnifying glass and ask HR if you don't understand any terms BEFORE signing the contract.

That's about all, good luck!

It is advisable to bring back the contract and run through it carefully before submitting to the admin? :/

bring magnifying glass.. wow, that's a scary part. ;D and thanks!

if you want to, of course you can bring it back
you need not sign the contract there and then
the company normally give you a period of time to sign
like within 7 days if I remember correctly

A call would do. Btw, are you rejecting offer from Company A or interview from Company B?

In that case, a call would do. Since you're attending the 2nd interview, why not give it a try for Company B. You could reject their offer if they want you in future. Just to gain some knowledge on what they would ask. smile.gif

Yeah you can always attend an interview with company B and see how it goes. My friend accepted an offer from Company X (haven't signed the contract yet) but before she started at Company X, company Y offered her a better position.

Another case my friend had two interviews with two competing firms and when he did tell them that he is attending two interviews with both the firms, the firms tried to outbid each other. Pretty nice and interesting if you ask me but that was in the UK.

As for rejecting, a simple call will do and give them a reason why you are rejecting them.

I know.. but Company A called me to finalise everything on the date earlier than Company B interview. Company A told me to forget about Company B and to join them instead.

Company A offers more than Company B.. so I guess I ll be joining A..

At times you can do that provided you're very good/high flyer. Or else, it is not advisable smile.gif
