any of you currently using aosp rom? need one that rock hard stable, although not near stock rom, not battery hungry. currently trying to set up slimbean 4.2.2 build 8. doesn't look promising with the aosp keyboard keep force closing on me right after the flash. had to install swiftkey.
used slimbean 4.3 before but android os kept draining my battery like shit. what to do?

QUOTE(mtxx @ Oct 7 2013, 01:29 PM) i am using slimbean 4.2.2 build 8 my keyboard never force close before. you got flash gapps? for slimbean, no need to flash gapps. the rom itself have play store already. all the other gapps are downloadable from the play store i tried slimbean 4.3, its like a downgrade from 4.2 similar to cm10.2, the aosp browser is so laggy, its worst than s2 on gingerbread. and the camera is so terrible in terms of control. maybe that's the cause of that keyboard fc-ing on me like an ass. but ever since i tried slimbean 4.3, its like "once you go 4.3, you'll never go 4.2". right now i'm trying 4.3 weekly 1.6. so far seems good. do you get the android os battery drain problem? i stayed on 4.2.2 for less than an hour, already surpassed the screen on battery usage. weird.

QUOTE(mtxx @ Oct 25 2013, 08:47 PM) agree. 4.2.2 is stable already. match with this kernel battery life even better http://yank555-lu.net/(no idea why yank dont post in xda, but in his own forum, yank is active slimbean user, and his kernel is tested using slimbean, be sure not to install the wrong one, install the cm10.1 version for android 4.2) 4.3 brings not improvement in smoothness, but add more bugs and app not working list ~superbeam app not working ~super laggy aosp browser ~worst camera than 4.2 imma add to that ~wrong camera scene labelling ~mimi 4chan reader fc ~battery drain like stock tw

QUOTE(mtxx @ Oct 28 2013, 10:06 AM) dont stock touch wiz have better battery life? i never really compare both before but from what i understand, aosp rom built on hacks and open source driver while touch wiz rom run on official drivers and fully working hardware composer Touchwiz have lots of bloatware, after deleting with titanium backup doesnt seem to have noticeable impact on battery life also. the real question is: different rom really affect battery life? i guess because of the kernel setting and other stuff. i'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to delicate coding and such, but as far as i can remember, touchwiz got a lot of wakelocks, even after greenify. compared to slimbean im using right now, even without greenify the battery graph is a lot better looking that touchwiz with greenify. maybe i'm wrong, so anyone here feel free to correct me.

QUOTE(nokia6280 @ Oct 31 2013, 07:53 AM) ok lah. Lazy to chase and became tester for develper. Some more not all ROM is stable. Forr me I am looking for most stable one therefore stick with stock. FYI, I don't really too care on whether Samsung will release 4.3 or 4.4 for S3 but I do enjoy reading speculation news and I think some of you also interested to Maybe not for you. i can assure you that slimbean 4.2.2 is rock stable as stock touchwiz. been using it for more than 2 months now. battery life is much better than stock, usually at the end of the day with 15% battery left. my setup : slimbean 4.2.2 build 8 greenify wechat + aptoide + line + facebook stock slimbean 4.2.2 kernel standard 2100mah battery

QUOTE(mtxx @ Nov 2 2013, 09:22 AM) I wanted to flash slimbean 4.1 to see wether its more stable and solid than 4.2 I never liked the 4.2 camera, the delay when changing orientation is really annoying. But I can't get 4.1 to work. After a clean install, I keep getting aosp keyboard force close. It probably need google service to be updated. But I can't enter play store to update it, because I can't insert my google account. Why? Because the keyboard is not working, I can't bring up the keyboard, I can't connect to wifi too because I can't bring up keyboard to type my password. So does this mean there's no way to go back to aosp based 4.1 roms? i came across that with my slimbean 4.2.2. my workaround, i skipped the initial setup, browse to my folder and install swiftkey, open slimcenter and uninstall latinime.

QUOTE(mtxx @ Nov 2 2013, 11:36 PM) I may try it again. Come to think of it, I never tried 4.1 aosp ROMs before. 4.3 slim bean and cm is so buggy. Feels like a downgrade. Especially camera and browser I wanted to check 4.1 due to curiosity. What are your thoughts on 4.1? More stable and smooth than 4.2? it supposed to be great i guess, but the stability might be questionable. but i'm having a problem now, both slimbean 4.2.2 and 4.3 is having a stability issue in mobile data. it kept dropping data signal, and i can't get it back unless i restart my phone. this doesn't happen with stock touchwiz. right now still trying to sort it out. kinda frustrated

QUOTE(mtxx @ Nov 5 2013, 07:35 AM) Data signal also related to rom? If you are using digi, I guess it's telco problem. Yesterday I try various ROMs. Aokp milestone 2 and cm10.1 I realize they speed up the default animations speed in Slimbean. The ones in cm and aokp are slower and moother. Since aokp keep getting camera can't connect issue, I stick to cm. Like the smooth animations. you know that h+ sign on top of the signal icon? that thing went off quite frequently on my slimbean. maybe because of the elementcase that i use because the bezel is made of aluminium. but when i change to stock, it doesn't have any problem at all. right now i'm using 4.2.2 with my old tpu casing, kinda solved the problem i guess.
