with yank kernel and with his setting in config i got 20k


it does fix the unlock bug... gonna check n monitor battery usage

i think got warranty somemore la..

i think yank kernel over clock to 1.6GHz, thats why you get higher antutu

previous my complains about temasek has been solved.

-lock screen widget not enable by defaulyt, need to settings>security>widgets, enable it
-can flash a zip to fix the low resolution issue
-convert secure settings to system app, the helper will work and able to work with tasker just fine
-need to use es file explorer, mount system as r/w then only can copy
-use yank kernel with new mali drive, lock screen delay is normal again.

guys, i installed cm 10.1.3 stable on my s3, and its pretty good, simple and fast compared to the stock rom..here what i did to install (please inform me of i did anything wrong and how to correct it)

1. install clockworkmod recovery
2. send rom and gapps to sd card
3. wipe data can cache from recovery menu
4. install cm and gapps.

thats all right? am i missing anything? and any gapps version is ok right?

not the triangle counter is at 3, do i need to do anything about it?

your installation steps is correct.

gapps cannot simply install. need match the correct android version.
cm10.1 is android 4.2, install this gapps
gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip from here http://goo.im/gapps

if want to remove triangle counter, use triangle away app. its pointless tough if your warranty is over.

4.2 roms are very stable. great for daily use. here are some tips to make it better.

battery usage in settings will report very high "android OS" usage. this is a real wakelock and is a bug in all 4.2 aosp roms. flash yank kernel to fix this. you will see improvement in battery life.

yank has his own forum, need to register. download "Yank555.lu-CM10.1-v1.6f++.zip" for cm10.1

when you use aosp rom, you might encounter "cant connect to camera" error.
this happens very rarely. maybe once a week. when it happen, non of your apps can access camera, a reboot is required. to avoid a reboot, install this app http://temasek.hopto.org/Samsung%20Galaxy%...tart_Camera.apk it instantly reboots the camera and makes it available again.

cm10.1 (android 4.2) already has a stable built, meaning its the last built. no more future versions for it.

if you want to install newer cm such as cm10.2 (android 4.3), it's better you factory reset and reinstall from scratch.

thanks for the tip bro, now my itchy hand want to install cm 10.2 on this phone..have you tried the 10.2 nightly build? if yes, how is it?

i did not go for 10.2.
android 4.2 aosp are very buggy for me.
all this time i was using slimbean (android 4.2)

since the default browser and camera very laggy for me on 4.3.
if you use chrome instead of stock aosp browser,
and you prefer your own 3rd party camera app, then 10.2 should be good for you.

only yesterday i start using temasek 4.4.
so far so good, browser and camera very smooth.

ok..so ill stick with 10.1.3 for now, until an official cm 11 comes out, then ill update to it straight from 10.1, ill skip 10.2

Problem solved guys. It was the USB cable. By the way, this is the third cable I changed. The first and second were both cheap oems and it didnt work on the S3. It worked on other Samsung phones in the shop though. At last had to get the Capdase one and it worked flawlessly. Should have chose the Capdase one in the first place and saved all the hassle and headache.

if you have the free time, and fast internet, why not?
it's best to try yourself rather than listen to other people's opinion.
what you like may be different from other people

do a cwm backup. change to whatever rom you want to try, if you dont like it, restore the backup.
cwm recovery is like a time machine, very very cool!

Flash china S3 4.3 kernal. I am using it and so far so good.

Another kernel choice for you.

I'm using googy kernel since 23 nov. very good battery life and has no issues.
