QUOTE(daydreaming @ Oct 3 2013, 01:52 PM) nobody say business is easy. and i'm saying if every customer also hope for robin hood seller like urself, then nobody will be willing to spend time sourcing for it. what most sellers are experiencing nowadays is people lowballing already very low price (doesnt happen to me much coz my target market is quite different). of coz as customers, we want the best price available. but as a buyer, sometimes have to be fair to the sellers also. Well said bro unfortunately, i can tell u honestly. profit margin for my stuff is only 2-5%. sometimes rugi if the retail price turn out to be cheaper than mine. if im lucky, 8-10%. but most of the time is way below that. margin of more than 20% only happens in dreamland that is why alby is the boss here. Not trying to stir up a debate or having a go at buyers... it is easy to sit back and post sarcastic remarks directly/indirectly accusing sellers of making a killing, buyers sometimes do not fully appreciate the sort of trouble a reseller has to go through to import Lego or any other goods for that matter... Anyway, it is natural that any new "players" appearing will undercut existing sellers so in a way there is a check and balance on this situation. Perhaps 1-2yrs back the margin could be higher but definitely today it will not be so lucrative business. This is happening everywhere, not just Lego. The internet open up the world to everybody, one just have to spend a little time searching. Disclaimer: The above statement is not directed at anyone so please don't shoot me! QUOTE(cruiseantz @ Oct 3 2013, 03:52 PM) hahahah, just a weekly cuci mata...not much changes thou Haiz... If I knew City Advent calender selling in LLM for RM99 I shouldn't bother to import myself! Picture heavy in spoiler: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Friends advent calender probably out of stock gua? The theme is still running strong. I didn't import for my daughter as I don't find the contents interesting... QUOTE(scoop7 @ Oct 3 2013, 04:11 PM) Was planning sendiri masuk stock.. Haha! Not everyone buys Lego in LYN la bro. There may still be a case for you to open shop but of course the risk will be there. More and more peeps are buying and selling stuff online but it doesn't spell the end of a physical store, you just have to get your business model right.... Whatever it is, thread carefully... But now maybe I just stay wit my boring job better.. so many lowballing buyers nowadays.. want original Lego but wanna pay KO price... |

QUOTE(daydreaming @ Oct 3 2013, 04:21 PM) the best i've received so far. Well if that was in the west the seller will get offended with it and tell you off. Their culture not so accommodating with bargaining or request for discounts, to them is like "I published the price, you can't read meh?" iron man war machine and 76008, 60 + 100 = 160 the customer wanna discount to 120 by the way, my UK boss just sold his 41999 on ebay UK for...................390 GBP QUOTE(Caryane @ Oct 3 2013, 04:49 PM) Yo guys! Thread moving slowly in V15, need more peeps to keep spamming photos to keep up the momentum otherwise we will fall behind... I've been gone for awhile, guess no one misses me Just wanna say congratulations on our new home again and we seem to be one of the fastest growing hobby thread in LYN. QUOTE(maxilife1 @ Oct 3 2013, 04:53 PM) Hee hee. Have to be neutral otherwise I will have trouble! Anyway, it is my personal opinion and not everyone has to agree. It is good to imagine yourself in a different role and see things from a different perspective. Again, I wish to stress that I wasn't targetting the comment at anyone and I apologise if I hurt anyone's feelings or stepped on anyone's toes (or fingers)... QUOTE(daydreaming @ Oct 3 2013, 05:19 PM) yeah, there are a lot of lowballers out there. but there are also a lot of good customers and LEGO fans, who just wish to get affordable LEGO sets for themselves/their kids I think in our culture it is normal to bargain and of course sometimes you get some ridiculous offers, I don't get offended and it is just in good spirits of the negotiation process. And it is definitely common that everyone will ask around to compare prices so I am happy to give out my price knowing the potential buyer is going to shop around and most likely not come back again. That's fine with me, my goal is clear: Import sets I like and sell to people I like, ultimately the whole buying and selling process is about getting affordable Lego AND meeting new friends. This is my take anyway. anyway, nowadays it can b quite scary to COD and carrying so much cash around. thats why always COD in shopping malls with cash deposit machines. aiks, u r finally back from the world of Hot Toys This post has been edited by Lego_Jason: Oct 3 2013, 05:34 PM |

Let's get back to Lego discussion and sharing our hobby.
Has anyone heard any news on the next Modular Building?? It is customary to release one Modular Building each year so Lego has been very quiet on the next one... Or is it just me who has not been following the news or rumour mills? I'm also hoping for a new Power Function train too... |

QUOTE(zemperor @ Oct 8 2013, 09:43 PM) sorry Thanks for the photos bro! will take out the wrapper in future for me, it not too loose or too tight, just perfectly fit in price, RM10 for 3 packets (about 4+ weapons in 1 packet) some new pictures here if anyone interest » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « some minifigures with their original weapon as comparison i guess not too hard to find out... wow... that was really old one... From the looks of it the fit is good but dunno if its the angle or the scale is slightly larger than original minifigs weapons? |

QUOTE(ryucando @ Oct 9 2013, 11:55 AM) Good Morning AFOLS, Wah! Taikun hands getting itchy! haha! Since I personally do not have many interesting sets to look forward to for the rest of the year. I am thinking of getting my hands dirty on a technics set. So my question to those experienced technics kaki and sifus. What would be a good one and only set to own? I am looking at playability (the 4x4 crawler maybe).- zip around the house maybe outside (by the way would it be able to do outdoors?) Have no idea on crane, flatbed and the rest?? I am breaking my own AFOL rule of staying away from technics (only 1 set to satisfy my curiosity) I'm no sifu but here's my dua sen: 9398: From what I gather it is really a crawler - CRAWLING speed so do not expect it to zip around the house like an RC car. Once you have that cleared from your expectations you will enjoy it from a Technic model point of view. It is a good model with plenty of room for modifications if that's your thing. Price has come down to quite a reasonable level too if I'm not mistaken. 8110: What can I say, I love this set eventhough I have yet to build it! 42000: You have to see the finished built to fully appreciate the size of it, it's huge! You can motorised this (and many other Technics) by buying the Power Function Kit (8293). If you're into cars this may be something to consider and it will look good as a display. 42009: I love Technic commercial and industrial vehicles so at the moment this is the best there is on offer at the moment. If you feel like burning some $$$ on EOL sets you can consider 8043 Motorised Excavator. Oh, final note. 8110 is due to go EOL by end of this year. Hope this helps! ps. I highly doubt this is going to be a one off trip, it is the beginning of your Lego Technic journey.... This post has been edited by Lego_Jason: Oct 9 2013, 06:15 PM |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 9 2013, 05:02 PM) 9398: yes, must set expectation as crawling speed. Then can marvel at how they design the servo-motor to steer, the motor to drive, and the gearing down. Also the Technic way to strengthen the beams to hold everything in place. Oops! You are right! 8110: not the most hydraulics (pneumatics), that title would goto 8455 which is a very old EOL set with 10x cylinder and 2x pump. 8110 is the first current-sets (IINM) to combine motor and pneumatics. Hydraulic uses liquid, pneumatic uses air 8043: is EOL already and getting expensive RM1k or higher. My favourite model so far. Depends on individual preference, some do not like "Lego-with-holes" 8043 and 42009 are my favourites too. Currently sourcing parts to build the ultimate 42009... |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 9 2013, 06:30 PM) Aiya ... My 42009 box is still in plastic bag ... but maybe I source for parts first, for the ultimate-42009. lol! I also don't want to dismantle my 8043 so have to order everything new.... My worry is on the number of M-motors ... cause I don't want to dismantle my 8043. |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Oct 9 2013, 07:03 PM) Did a quick check at BL for those with >1 units Haha! I also did a check as I am putting in my order tonight! M-motor = usd8 L-motor = usd15 non-related servo-motor = usd34 XL-motor = usd16 Not yet count delivery & our friendly local Customs 10% tax, which will be more due to motor-weight. Doing any parts-CS ? Generally BL prices are very good but for us have to factor shipping and tax as you said. The motors are not only heavy, they are quite bulky too so I think have to apply parcel shipping rates... I'm buying from Europe not USA so the prices I'm getting are a little more than the above, pm me the quantities you need. Price I dunno but will be at cost (inclusive of shipping and tax of course). I better shut up otherwise kena marah for doing business... |

QUOTE(photoshutterz @ Oct 9 2013, 07:29 PM) I would think 42008 is a good start into pneumatics. Good value for money. The only thing that stopped me from buying it is the colour. If only they made it Blue or Orange... |

QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Oct 9 2013, 08:10 PM) Once you go down the Technic path, there is no turning back! First you buy the 42009, then after that 8110, then followed by 8043 motorized excavator, 8275 motorized bulldozer, 8258 crane truck, 8880 supercar, 8448 super street sensation, 8868 air-tech claw rig etc. I know since I started with crane truck and then every year buy the flagship technic set (last year was an exception though, skipped the crawler). Thank you sifu paanjang16 for the detailed explanation! ![]() ![]() I do not own the crawler, but Technic models are definitely not meant to be played outdoors. There's a video from Technic-bricks where they drove their crawler on the beach but they warn people against doing so. This is because dirt/sand might enter into the gearing and grind the gears out. The gears are all plastic and not meant for heavy usage. If you really do need to buy a Technic set each year, then better buy the flagship technic set. The smaller ones no shiok lah. 8110 is much more complex and larger than 42008 when it comes to pneumatics. Not only that but 8110 is also much larger and has a much higher piece count. Prior to the Mobile crane Mk2 it was the largest technic set at 2048 pieces. Then it has 4 wheel drive and suspension, motorized winch and turnable, 4 super big wheels and rims, comes with Mercedes logo and in cool orange livery. ![]() For pnuematic functions you control 3 different functions via the 3 switches- the claw, the top part of the arm and bottom part of the arm. Compared to 42008 you only control the wheel holder (if that is what it is called) ![]() The 8110 is the 2nd model to have a compressor after its grandfather 8868 Air-tech claw rig. The 8868 comes from the 90s so you can see that the construction method is different. ![]() Recycling my old photo for this post. I really need retake all of them again and see all of them line up in a row. I wonder how big is the 42009 compared to my other behemoths like the 8110 or 8258. QUOTE(zemperor @ Oct 9 2013, 10:04 PM) ... Yeah, no thanks to you I got poisoned into building the Ultimate 42009! is the ultimate 42009 the one that i shared before? looks like i'm manage to spread the poison here let me share the link again QUOTE(bloodghost @ Oct 10 2013, 10:44 AM) omg, too bag amazon france doesn's ship to malaysia anymore, why so sudden? amazon italy also cheap but dun ship to malaysia, why are they doing so It may just be a temporary halt for them to rectify certain flaws/loopholes in their system or delivery chain.Another possibility is TLG trying to gain control over Asian market, in recent months there are signs pointing towards that direction. So perhaps Amazon has been instructed not to ship Lego sets globally? There are also rumours of TLG entering our market, let's hope that means cheaper prices on par with HK, Taiwan and Korea. If not it doesn't benefit us at all... QUOTE(faish888 @ Oct 10 2013, 12:18 PM) I don't even dare to google it! |

QUOTE(daydreaming @ Oct 11 2013, 08:50 AM) tell them about the distance. if its < 20/30 GBP, u don hv to return. conclusion, sometimes too honest to them, u will regret. 8110 set for retirement by 31/12/2013. Or while stocks last. Take it with a pinch of salt ya, this is what it says in my list... May or may not be accurate. anyway, anyone know if 8110 gonna retire next year? so far, the technic sets that i've seen, 8110 and 42000 are nice IMO QUOTE(Mr. Alby @ Oct 11 2013, 09:32 AM) and I just found out that the 10190 market street is totally different theme...damn lucky... so..i dont feel contemplating to get one... QUOTE(Mr. Alby @ Oct 11 2013, 10:11 AM) yeah...im starting to collect back all the modulars... Eh? How can you collect Modular Buildings and not get Market Street? Just bought corner cafe for usd350...& green grocer for usd300...(BIB)... The rest of the modulars will ship together with Parisian... When check again with brickpedia & some sellers, technically the market street is different theme altogether. So, lucky la...if not have to browse everyday to find a good price. It seems that it fell under Factory theme. But the subtheme is the same la... No matter how you like to deceive yourself, 10190 Market Street is a Modular Building right down to its very core! If you wiki "Modular Building" Market Street is considered part of the Modular Building theme. It falls under the Lego Factory theme because it was designed by a Lego fan rather than a Lego designer. The building itself and piece count may not be very attractive but for a collector it is special because of the story behind it... Come on bro, you know a Modular Building when you see one so don't deny yourself... muahahaha! Here's a brief history to Modular Buildings: Wikipedia - Lego Modular Houses Be warned that it may change your mind after reading!! |
