Can't believe I managed to pull this off. I attempted to build a LEGO Transformer using just ONE official set (power mech, link below). and not a big set somemore.

got some free time, so decided to DIY the ribba display cases for minifigs that i saw on IKEA hackers site...the materials been lying around my house for a while. looks like it should be simple diy

However as for the strips....measuring, cutting and connecting it seems like ALOT of work hahaha....

However, it maybe problem to source in Malaysia (and expensive). You can try source from SG or other countries, through the education line, and not the retail/commercial line.

yup, 2X2 white bricks. Coz it blends in perfectly well with the white art card. I use the art card so that it can withstand the weight of the bricks (& minifigs) when glued on. 

everything you need, is in the ribba frame itself, i didnt need to buy any artcard/panels etc, no cutting involved, if you make the same size as the one i posted. For the bigger ones as per your link, yes you will need to build the supports

its just my personal taste, but using stuck on lego bricks look really horrible to me, it hurts my eyes. i like it to look uniform, hence the straight shelve, instead of individual lego bricks (also, u can play around with putting more or less minifigs, but if you stick the bricks on, u are stuck with that configuration)

Interesting and heard rumours before that The LEGO Group will start distribution. Perhaps that's the reason for all the sales recently - Clear stocks from warehouse and recover as much as possible.

If it's true, maybe there will be sales all the way until early 2014? Empire is just the first site, maybe sales in other malls coming soon if ALJ see there's good response?
