If they still have it, they're my 1st choice....I've read so much about the burst of happiness when using a Filco - wanna see if rainbow start popping out of the keyboard when I type.

Not to mention dat very same design, this probably the 121415385436349 rebrand of Rapoo V7.
*
Yeah, I'm very much aware of the similarities with the Rapoo v7 which comes with yellow (!) switches.

QUOTE(Human10 @ Oct 24 2013, 01:32 PM)
I believe getting an Alps switch board at around the same price may be wiser.

But if you are the type of DIY person, you can actually get it and also some 2nd hand dummy boards to salvage the switch and get yourself a Cherry MX board by combining both.
*
What's the difference between Cherry and Alps? Got any links so that I can compare prices?

And why would I want to salvage just the switches? Is there a problem with the keyboard in general that makes it unsuitable?

QUOTE(Human10 @ Oct 24 2013, 01:51 PM)
Generally, mechanical switches out there are either of below (and also topre),
Genuine Cherry (MX and ML, but ML NFC)
Cherry Clone Switch
Alps (some ppl say it is actually clone of old switch, but since the old one is long gone, we just generalize all as Alps)

The first 2 is similar in term of specs, shapes, designs and so on. The different is just durability and reliability.

Thats why, you can swap out fake switch and replace with genuine Cherry switch.

Got it. Any recommendations for ALPS keyboards?

Holy shit! RMB 99 for an alps keyboard.

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r....&id=13538122244

Might be lost in translation but can somebody check if the Korean modifier keys can be replaced with the extra long spacebar and whether the extra long spacebar is included?

Damn...

And here I was thinking that I could try out the ALPS switches for cheap sad.gif

Cheapest I can find is a circa RMB200 TKL. Would make a nice gift, no?

OK guys.

Really respect your keyboards man... 1k+ for feels biggrin.gif

My takeaway:
1. This is an expensive hobby.
2. I need to save money buy a custom + MX ergo clears.
3. My gear is noob.

Other than that:
1. Confirm I like Brown switch (again). Others too noisy/stiff/feels weird.
2. I kinda miss the buckling springs biggrin.gif
3. Lowyat forumers are nice people and friendly biggrin.gif

Just swap the spring of the browns to clears. I think you'll get a better typing experience.

MX brown stock is 45g spring (bottom is 60g)
MX Clear stock is 80g spring

So you swap to mx clear by default the spring also very heavy already.
desolder everything
open switch one by one and swap.
*
rclxub.gif

Make custom better.

I really have this feeling wanna get MX clears, since I bottom out on my browns most of the time anyway (don't tell me not to because I LIKE THE FEELING OF BOTTOMING OUT, OK?) but since clears are slightly heavier feel yet have the same "sound" and kinda feel like browns biggrin.gif

My theory is that as you type more your finger get stronk and you want the heavier feel.

wonder why only china have those 2 colours , official website don't have.

Thanks for link. Yeah, but the white feels underwhelming. The other colours have a much more vibrant look and white just feels like... meh.

can2. later when he open proper list, i inform you.  brows.gif
dude, if brown is kinda light, you gotta go stock clears. at first kinda heavy but after practice, trust me they are very nice.  brows.gif
*
Is not kinda light. I think it's actually perfect for me because I bottom out a lot. Only thing I really wanna change about MKBs is that the spacebar for most browns still feel a bit wonky and "hollow" sounding. I wanna go for clears because I think it's slightly stiffer, but mostly "feels and sounds" like browns to me.

QUOTE(aaroneo @ Oct 28 2013, 06:51 AM)
hi all, I'm thinking of getting a mech keyboard, I've been looking around for quite some time and I think I will be settling for a CM Storm Quickfire TK, brown switches.

Choosing brown as I like tactile and also wanna be safe such that it isn't too loud.

Any suggestions where to get them in Malaysia? or online, currently in the UK, the price is roughly 70pounds= RM350, I could get them cheaper from US if I ask my friend to send it to me. Any ideas on how to approach this? biggrin.gif thanks for the help
*
Best to get something with a standard keycap layout, or you'll regret later when the switches outlast the keycaps (switches rated for 20-50 million presses). The keycap printing will fade/go shiny, and you'll wanna change it.

While I like the look of it.
But I am not sure why my fingers really not used to it.
I have been trying out few 60%. But the Feels is a bit weird.
not sure how to describe  sweat.gif
*
I need my Insert-PgDn cluster...

But I haven't tried a 60% layout extensively, so that might change smile.gif

PS : 1st timer to MKB, and budget around rm400

Get the ducky shine la bro... won't regret. Anything with standard layout means can replace keycaps later. Otherwise you'll regret immensely.

Anybody used www.buy2taobao.com before?

Is the fella trustworthy? Seems cheaper (after including all fees and commission) compared to others.
