QUOTE(aaroneo @ Oct 28 2013, 06:51 AM)
hi all, I'm thinking of getting a mech keyboard, I've been looking around for quite some time and I think I will be settling for a CM Storm Quickfire TK, brown switches.

Choosing brown as I like tactile and also wanna be safe such that it isn't too loud.

Any suggestions where to get them in Malaysia? or online, currently in the UK, the price is roughly 70pounds= RM350, I could get them cheaper from US if I ask my friend to send it to me. Any ideas on how to approach this? biggrin.gif thanks for the help

Best to get something with a standard keycap layout, or you'll regret later when the switches outlast the keycaps (switches rated for 20-50 million presses). The keycap printing will fade/go shiny, and you'll wanna change it.

I need my Insert-PgDn cluster...

But I haven't tried a 60% layout extensively, so that might change smile.gif

Good, ayam like ppl like chew, 1st try already visit taobao. brows.gif

You want backlit by default? DIY one count? Any other requirements?

I will recommend the following 2:
PLUM 87 (one of the few wireless mech kb out there)
Noppoo Choc Mid 87 (a clone of filco, so aftermart parts for filco should easily compatible to it)
*
i'm actually still thinking between 87 or 108.......i think led by default will be better as i duno how to diy??or is there any guide out there??? i got my eye on this eye candy

PS : 1st timer to MKB, and budget around rm400

the problem with keycool backlit keyboard is that the spacebar is not standard. meaning u can't change the spacebar.

Your budget is pretty high, might as well add another bit and go for local ducky shine3.

You can only add led by yourself to certain boards, and the plum87 I stated is one of them.

If you want full size, then consider ikbc f104, the led is DIY able, but harder may be harder than plum for that the led holes are presoldered, you need extra works to clean off the solder b4 you start adding led.

Get the ducky shine la bro... won't regret. Anything with standard layout means can replace keycaps later. Otherwise you'll regret immensely.

You are buying keyboard based on rarity and not based on your liking? Then u should get The Cheat, at least it is no longer in production.

Anybody used www.buy2taobao.com before?

Is the fella trustworthy? Seems cheaper (after including all fees and commission) compared to others.

blush.gif I was under the assumption that it would be made in limited amount like previous board, so that I could sell it easily if I decide not to use it after it's send to me. Now that I see they are going to produce more than 100 of them, the market would be filled with them making it hard for me to resell should I choose to go down that path.

Just taking my chances to see if they would refund. If they are kind enough to do that maybe I can grab a Realforce board if I like it after testing them, perhaps alu case to go with it laugh.gif

If they don't, I will just use it and try to trade my would be reanodized LZ-GH for clacks or keyset

Would do that as last resort, I am sure there would be quite a number of empty slot up for grabs on the 30th. Even if they allow the order to be transfered , it would be a pain in the ass to contact them in order to change the name, shipping address and invoice the extra shipping fees.

Besides, I have yet to spam 60 posts tongue.gif
