QUOTE(diaBoliQu3 @ Oct 3 2013, 10:46 PM) I'm way new in this field but ABS double shot not my level yet. Still prefer PBT anytime because I hate shining keycaps. But that won't be a problem if you already owned more than you can use sets... BTW: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Double-shot_moldingdouble shot prone to shine easily? is that what you mean? i hate shining key over long period of use as well.. it will become greasy to the touch while typing.. erghhhhh..

PBT material however, is way more durable.

Materials: ABS, PBT and POM Printing (in term of expensive and exclusiveness): Doubleshot, dye sub, engraved, lasered, pad printing Doubleshot mostly only on abs (with the exception of the vortex/kbc doubleshot pbt recently), while dyesub mostly limited on pbt (cause abs's melting point is too low to be dyed). The best is to find dyesub or doubleshot pbt if durability is what you seeking for. This post has been edited by Human10: Oct 3 2013, 11:46 PM

QUOTE(kayFX @ Oct 3 2013, 11:02 PM) double shot prone to shine easily? is that what you mean? i hate shining key over long period of use as well.. it will become greasy to the touch while typing.. erghhhhh.. QUOTE Gloss and yellowing: Double-shot moulded keys are made from ABS plastic because most other plastics shrink too much in the moulding process. ABS may yellow over time, and is not as hard as PBT plastic. The texture of PBT keycaps will remain longer than the texture of ABS keycaps - the ABS keycaps get glossy after extended usage. Because of this, PBT keys with dye sublimated legends are regarded by many as an even better alternative, although dye sublimation has its own set of disadvantages and limitations, most notably it cannot be used to print light legends on dark keycaps. Not easily, depend on the usage too. I think the WASD, shift and spacebar turn shiny first. Hate shining key, get POM or PBT. Why not get IMSTO thick PBT. Recently I bought myself Vortex double shot PBT but I just realised that I don't need more than a set of keycaps. Doesn't have time to change and mix match.

Spacebar fastest.. most of the spacebar I got from a SP set, such as ragnarok/sanctuary goes shiny way too fast. I had to change to PBT spacebar.

That's why I avoid ABS for all cost. Spend extra on ABS not my thing yet, for now... But most of those sexy keycaps made from ABS. Sigh...

He is suggesting you to get a new board with a more standard layout so you can swap and replace it easily whenever the old one aged. Or in the other words, if you see what he did there. Take a look at his siggy.

From previous threads, I came to the conclusion that there are still quite a lot of ppl too skeptical or paranoid or simply impatient to go through the hassle of waiting to get stuffs from foreign country online even if it save much more money doing so. Therefore, if you do mass import and resell at a price in between taobao and heavyarm, you still had a handsome sum of profit margin. P/s: the theory above only for keycaps cause it is light and probably less chances to get hold by custom. For keyboards, it is too bulky and expensive to do mass import, not to mention warranty claim problem. This post has been edited by Human10: Oct 4 2013, 08:51 AM

Locally, the market demand for keycaps are still very very low, so no one will do mass import to feed the minority, it is just too non-justifiable in business sense. So it is still the best for us to browse China Facebook

Take a look at all those purchase at heavyarm b4, even it is overpriced, gamers still get it. The safest or best investment is to get some quality wasd keys and sell.

Must admit my sp spacebar turns so fast. just into 1 -2 week usage can start to see already. anyway, i will just use the cherry one since it's already shine for ages. but it is not visible due to its color. dark color the most obvious
