Cannot wait for ALIVE to open this FRI.

Today I went to A1 in Subang/ Sg.Buloh.
Saw some 2.5-3" Siamese Tigers going for RM36. Real Siam one, 4 bold stripes on the body and the Indonesian helper told me its imported fr Thailand. He told me these are highly in demand and told me to get it quick b4 it sell out. There re also some "Common Tiger" 2 in. (I suspect its either Indon or P.N.Guinea) going for RM20. Since buying those small RM12 (<1") fr ALIVE is a gamble and cannot confirm the species so I bought 5 pieces of the RM36 Siamese. After some haggling, I paid RM100 for the 5pc.

Yeah Hang Jebat,

The ST is more alert than my Greenie. When I throw in some feeder shrimp, the Aro has got no chance. They are excellent predators.
My neighbour came over and he fall in love with my ST and beg me to sell it to him. I told him how much I got it for and refered him to A1. He doesnt mind paying me RM100 for 3. After seeing how those ST feed and their ferocious appetite, I sold him the 3 pc. Now I got 2 for free.
He told me the same fish LFS would normally retail it for RM70-80 p/pc.

U r right. Those "4 Bars Tigers" fr A1 are actually Indon Tiger, not Siamese. Damm! @#$%&. Siamese only 3 thick Bars.
Afterall no way Siamese be obtain for RM20 not even in Bangkok market.
Cant complain about the price though since XL is selling the same thing for RM58.
Now it's listed under endangered species in Thailand and export was banned since Dec. last year.

Today I went to ALIVE. Someone tapau <1inches babyTigers(species unknown) yesterday. About 80 pieces.
Now the market no Siamese Tigers except XL (RM168)

I rather get a Siamese 4"+ fr XL than a Indon 6" for half the $.
Siamese shorter body and more triangle in bodyshape. 3 wide bold bar, when big golden yellow. Indon longer body, thin 4 bars and pale color.

I went about 4 something. R U the one tat tapau all the baby tigers?
Ours bought fr A1, the more i look at it, the more I suspect its AT



Silver Tiger Fish, Silver Datnoid, Four-barred Datnoid
Datnioides quadrifasciatus

SYN: Chaetodon quadrifasciatus, Datnioides polote
PD: Similar in body shape to D. microlepis except this species is slightly more elongated. The body color is gray white and the head may have an amber iridescence. The body is marked with seven black stripes. The first of these runs from the mouth to the eye where it forks with one part running to the back and the other toward the throat. The base of the caudal fin is marked with two black spots. The fins are transparent except for the pelvic fin which is white and black.
SIZE: To 18" (60 cm) in nature, although rarely larger than 12" (30 cm) in captivity.

HAB: In brackish water river estuaries in Asia and Australia; Borneo, Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, the Ganges of India, Thailand, and Sumatra.

Yesterday I was at LiChing(next to Alive, jln Pasar)
There is a beauuuuuuuuuutiful RTG there. Big fan tail, long pec., wide body, excellent swimming posture, shine intensity with some specks on the 5thlevel fr King Kong farm. My frd offer 700 but last price 750 so no deal.
A steal for this kind of quality. Too bad, I'm not in the market for a juvenile fish, if not I'll sapu.

Today went to XL and purchased 4 pc. of "original" Siamese Tiger aka Datniods Pulcer @ 150p/pc. Big difference next to my RM20 fr A1.
Highback(triangle shape) strong coloration, visible 3 wide bars on the body. No choice since I cant find any other FS in Klang Valley.

1.5/ Grd 2

Green + low quality red = 1.5/ grd 2
RTG + low quality mg = highback rtg

Quality Red + Quality MG = Tongyan

RTG is an independant species originate fr Indon.

VFSR is a trade name for QH's premium Red.
The 1 in Alive look normal to me.

A young juvenile red will get nervous in a 6footer.


Emperor Red is a name given to SR with extremely long pectoral fins that went beyond the anal fin.
Obviously there's a premium attached.
