long live to this thread icon_rolleyes.gif and hopefully can gather more arowana fans here... i like to share my experience how i rare my RTG (erm.. a few years ago) brought i for 280++ for 3 inches long (imagine 3 inches in 4ft long tank whistling.gif i used to feed it with block worms at that size... then switched to cricket when i think it mouth big enuf to swallow it laugh.gif i feed it twice a day with random (worms, cricket, small fish and frog) then once or twice with centipede per week... btw i live near the hills so there's no prob for me to find centipede... geezz i remember i found shocking.gif a 11-12 inches long centipede once... and my fishy feels like rclxub.gif hahaha... sometimes i feed it with lizard and it like a pirahna chasing it's prey! (probably i din feed it in the morning that day gua~~) my RTG died (unknown disease) at appro. 18 inches and 3.5 kg.

my advice is DON feed them with bug/insect too frequent coz will dirty the tank (dirty=will bring disease to fishy)... i learned from a few breeders and they said if u want the aro to become more red then feed them with centipede... i agree... although worms do help but not so significant to me...

currently looking for Red/Golden Back to out in my pood with koi... don worry they can match together thumbup.gif , i saw many times liao ppl put like this...

sifuu, i forgot about the name for that sickness, but if in the early stage u can put the red medic + salt, keep the temp at around 28C, and do change the water daily, n i let the fish sunbath around 1 hour daily, this is wat i did last time n it did worked thumbup.gif mayb i was just lucky whistling.gif i read from other forum this is normally due to the bad water quality, ph, Kh n Gh, n i think the best is always put some salt in after changing water, it helps icon_idea.gif i think the SR can grow faster compare to electric blue? i think giving them frogs, small fish, shrimp n centepete are the best, about cricket, i nvr try, bcos my fren told me its not so good to feed aro with tat, so i nvr try whistling.gif
plz correct me if anything wrong, thnx all sifuu notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

guys....actually u can feed them with bugs or any other food...juts bere in mind do not let them left overs that all....if you think that after feeding ur tank got waste...put in a few speedy fish to eat them up such as 'lampam', 'red parrot' or even koi....but make sure that those fish are quite big so that ur aro will not eat them...

if you all need more help go here Arofanatic lots of tips there...

Hmm.. if you're talking about having huge fish as pets, you cant beat this story that my father told me lar... smile.gif

Rural parts of Kuching, road construction project. They had to take over parts of this fellow's land in order to build the road, etc. This fellow's got a huge huge backyard behind the house (big enough to have a huge pond in it). Well, some of the construction workers were relaxing by the pond during lunch time. One fellow decided to take off his shoes and cool his toes in the pond. While waddling around the edges (water up to his knees) he felt something huge bump against his legs in the really muddy water. Freaked out and jumped out of the pond screaming like mad. According to the owner whom my father spoke to later that day, he's got 5 fishes in there, each one between 3-4 meters long. Unfortunately my father not having an interest in these stuff is not able to remember exactly what species those fish are.
