hello sifus, sorry for bringing this up again, earlier i did ask about dividing the aquarium by using only a cannister filter

currently i noticed that the left side is a little cloudy (maybe its because i moved the soil and all

my question is will the water in the left side be filtered?

user posted image

if the filtered water enters the other side then it should be no problem, but I guess maybe the flow rate on the left side is quite slow to be filtered since the opening is at the bottom if I'm not mistaken..slowly put, it like left side water slowly sip into the right thus the amount to be filtered is low compared to water on the right side which has direct access to the filter intake pipe..

not sure u understand my explaination.. sad.gif

i think roughly i understand, also i did increase water till water flow is able to flow from the top, which made the left side much clearer but then the shrimps are all swimming over to both sides
i intend to relocate my discus over here once i managed to get things sort out
*
haha..thats one way to solved it..but again, there no point on dividing the tank in the 1st place..maybe you can put layers of net even though shrimplet still can go across but at least it minimize the problem..but if you using to many layers of net, then you sacrifice the flow and back to square one.

if it still not work i suggest using another filter just for the left side.

ok currently using the spray bar in the middle and even after placing the input in 1 side and the output on the other side, the side without intake still looks kinda cloudy and able to see stuff floating in mid water, where as for the other side, its crystal clear
*
OR.....

if you into diy stuff, make 2 inlet and 2 outlet share the same canister..put some valve to control output on the smaller side so that it will not tiup everything.. icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

bought cherry..12 & 12 in 2weeks..1week got baby..already 1month keeping them..very small and very excited..i did choose some with eggs while at LFS..but somehow the adult now died one by one..1 or 2 sure kiok in 1 week..then next week same..1 or 2 sure kiok..feed them with 2 boiled spinach leaves for each 4/5 days..

the shrimplet still survive although i'm not sure if some kiok also i cannot see cause too small..shrimplet varies in size..so i guess they from different mother..

Any idea where to get ketapang leaves (Almond)? Or what other leaves are good to place in a shrimp tank?
*
if you can recognize the tree, it will be easier as i saw plenty of the tree were planted on the roadside..in skudai..not sure about your place..sometimes in public playground also got the tree planted for shade..

Thank you all. I'm hopelessly hopeless at recognizing trees.. sad.gif
So I will try ebay as suggested by Vio.

Setting up a new tank - shrimp only. 50 liters. Got my chiller, so temp problem is solved. Using the built in LED light, which is very basic but shouldn't matter since I'm not planting anything.

Planning to use a sponge filter as well. I bought Benibachi soil which is specific for shrimps and also free beach sand that I scooped up from the beach in Phuket duing the Xmas holidays. Haha, couldn't resist.

I'm actually thinking of using the beach sand. After testing it, I found that it is quite inert. It didn't affect PH, or GH. It raised TDS a little bit from 65 to 85. And KH from 0/1 to 2. I think those parameters should be okay, as any soil will leech out something anyway.

Why I want to use beach sand? To get some experience and see whether it workable or not? If it does not, then thrash it and replace with shrimp soil...

Hi all,
Would like to ask, is this Ketapang leaf? It measures six inches. Got it from a taman in TTDI.
All the leaves look similar, and I have a hard time telling..
Thanks.
*
looks like it..but you should take the 1 which betul-betul kering..since there might be some sap/liquid left in the leaf that you dont want to introduce in the tank..better safe than sorry..

depend on your room temp..it varies from house to house and depending on tank location also..avoid room/space that received evening sun..

my tank rarely go up to 30'..average 27-29'c..but my friend after adding fan still average 29-31'c..
