malayan seems fine, but yamato usually will go missing after few weeks.
There is no soil in the tank, full of anubias, and with normal fishes only (tetras, glass catfish, borneo suckers and 2 snails)
normally whats the main cause of shrimps dying?

QUOTE(arrow @ May 27 2014, 11:16 PM) from what i see , your tank should around 40-45cm length, these fish you keep put alot of stress on small dwarf shrimps, wow thats sharp, yup it's a 45cm tank. I thought tetras can co-exist with shrimps? I do have some guppies though. yamato are well known jumper, you may want to check behind your tank on floor for any dry prawn. Adding coral stone , will increas ph, gh , kh and tds , if your water is more acid , it will help buffer it up, don't put too much, one to two small old rm0.50centsĀ coin size is enough. Create more hiding space for shrimps since after molt they very vulnerable to attack. btw what is coral stone? where can get some? Thanks for the advice btw edit: oh ya another thing, my plants are growing black stuffs, I'm assuming they're algae? This post has been edited by Candlenie: May 27 2014, 11:47 PM |

QUOTE(pengleong @ Jun 2 2014, 12:21 PM) i gone to east aquarium in ipc and seen 2 shirmp displaytank before 3-4 week ago got many fire reds and crystal. now got no shirmps. i think they use ada soil and co2 and hangon filter. i think their shrimps sell out very fast, at least thats the case in mid valley. lol i'm regular customer at east aqua. i ask the staff. one said sleeping. i ask another man alone and he said don't know with grin. anyway I dont use soil and no co2...still a bit weird they keep dying/disappear. |

QUOTE(vincent75 @ Jun 3 2014, 04:53 PM) Fishes produce lots of waste. Beside, ur borneo sucker may disturb the under gravel and cause ammonia tat trap under it to release. Kill ur shrimp like a toxic bomb. Disturbing the gravels will cause shrimp to die? @@ I always do that when I change water I tried keeping fish and shrimp together in 45cm. I had a tough time maintaining the water parameter. now I just keep shrimp. Peace of mind. |

Wanna ask, if I wanna breed my own red cherry, is it ok if I mix them with some fishes? Or is pure shrimp tank the better option?

QUOTE(arrow @ Jul 6 2014, 09:28 AM) depend on what fish ,shrimp is always part of the diet of fish in the wild. Any recommendation on what sort of fish is cool with baby shrimps? My current setup seems fine living together with malayan, but they're all grown up malayan, no idea how they'll treat smaller shrimpstemperature 27-30c is still ok for cherry shrimp, co2 use timer to control it and not to overdose that will suffocate the livestock in tank. |
