Better identify what's the issues before you start on a new shrimp tank, great equipment won't keep the shrimps alive if you dont know what's the cause of the failure smile.gif

Those would be the infamous Opae Ulae (don't know how to spell it) - Hawaiian super shrimp. Not cruel, they can survive in harsh conditions. Arrow would be able to shed more info on this. Mind telling where you got to know the local seller? Interested in it too.

It could, so advisable to get some 'fresh stock' to mix the genes. I got one as shrimplet when I got a group last time, stil surviving. No heart to kill it.just hope it doesn't breed.

I'm about to get a new batch myself. I lost count of how many generation of inbreed I have in my tank so it's about time to add new ones.

How y'all doing? Hope everyone is good. Been busy with work & personal I haven't got a chance to log in.

Wanna ask, if I wanna breed my own red cherry, is it ok if I mix them with some fishes? Or is pure shrimp tank the better option?

how about co2, temperature, plants etc etc?

depend on what fish ,shrimp is always part of the diet of fish in the wild.
temperature 27-30c is still ok for cherry shrimp, co2 use timer to control it and not to overdose that will suffocate the livestock in tank.

Any recommendation on what sort of fish is cool with baby shrimps? My current setup seems fine living together with malayan, but they're all grown up malayan, no idea how they'll treat smaller shrimps

Recently , i am facing a problem. I have A/S grade CRS which is feed almost half years. last month , i bough a thick shell CRS which is SSS grade.

I saw SSS grade is die after molting , while the A/S crs is no problem at all.

Just wonder , is that because the shrimp shell thick it cause them hard to molt ? please advice what i can i do to prevent next AAA CRS die after molt .

My water parameter.
PH = 6.5
GH = 4-5
KH= 0
TDS = 90

NO2, no3 NH3/4 = 0

I see, was keeping check on all the shrimp for more 'Rili Shrimp' look. So, they are not called Rili shrimp right?

I moved to another aquarium for the new 'Rili Shrimp' shrimp.

Might keep the existing shrimp and not adding more.. aquarium full of red shrimps now and afraid the bio load might hurt the shrimplets and cause death.

What fish also can share with shrimps as long as the fish mouth not as big as the shrimps. my Red Shrimps, Guppy, Cardinal Tetras and Bumble Bee Goby is in my aquarium no casualty except you don't have hiding place for the shrimps.

If you plan to have shrimplets, most people will say you better keep with only the kind of shrimp you want to breed. If you want fish and shrimplets, I guess your only fish is oto but the oto movement is too fast and will kill the shrimplets. Should be ok if you don't do sudden movement infront of the aquarium.

For Malayan, Arrow might have more experience. laugh.gif Breeding Malayan is hard as he told me.

Sad to hear that but CRS does prove hard to keep unless you have experience.. I used to have 10 but A grade... almost all die except 2 and mostly die due to old age.
Your KH.... might need to be 2-3 If i'm not mistaken. TDS can raise to 100. just my opinion better wait for expert advice icon_question.gif . As I fail to breed, just able to keep the from dying until old age. Also try not to fluctuate your temp too much some people say temp also play major role... you know... heat stroke for them hehehe rclxub.gif use chiller because they say higher grade shrimps will have higher sensitivity to almost everything...

Boraras brigittae aka Mosquito Rasbora is the safest fish for tank with shrimplets from what i observe so far.
