Was thinking the same, is there a better way to transport shrimps back from shop instead of the usual tar pau style?
I do that too.. using tweezers to drop at a particular place but it ends up all over the place. With a small tank, all those food pieces and shrimp poo can really accumulate fast.
*
i have use all kind of dish/bowl to house the food, at the end of day, food still everywhere, so i give up, nowdays i just drop the food on top the ketapang leave.

No other way to transfer shrimp, just make sure you go watch how they pack your shrimp, some LFS staff really inexperience in handling shrimps, you will be shock on seeing how rough they handle and pack the shrimp. Also some will just pluck some moss/plant leaf from other tank and put into the shrimp bag, those moss/plant may have pesticide/fert that will harm the shrimp, so make sure you insist they use moss/plant from the shrimp tank or
new filter floss.

Yup, still end up elsewhere nearby but still good enough for mine as there's not many space for them to move around the food tongue.gif

Well at least with good filtration you don't have to worry much about those poop.
Yeah...seen before how some inexperienced ppl pack it...really give you heart attack & wonder if what you bought can survive the trip home.

Well...am glad to inform that all is fine in my tank *thank goodness* however...witness something earlier I would like to seek confirmation - a female shrimp swam up and 'fell down'...i was like "don't tell me it's a goner..." but luckily it was just molting. When it was half way molting...a male went on top of it. Once it was done molting the female just swam away quickly. So what I'd like to know is...was what I witnessed the quick mating or another shrimp being aggressive to another when it's molting?

Edit: OK here's a pic of one of the OEBTs:

You just witness their mating scene, shrimp mate right after they molt. It is highly believe the just molt soft body allow the male to penetrate the female easily.

I was thinkin that since shrimps like stability. Would it make sense to just top up with RO water and only do water changes once tds increase to a certain level. What do you guys and gal think?

-------------

Bored. Click if you're too and wants to watch 2 minutes of cherry shrimps going about doing their own thing.  laugh.gif

*
lot of ppl use 100% RO water for their high value crs tank, adjust the mineral and tds by using additives.
You can do that with adding RO water during water change like 10% each time, but sooner or later tds will drop if don't have stuff to keep the tds slowly increase like mineral stone.
with the frequent water change, else can add in some mineral powder during the water change to compensate. Beside TDS, gh will also be affected.

Hi arrow...my test cherry shrimp still alive in the 1sr cycled tank. I want to move the yellow golden back in this tank. Any advise how to move them?
*
to prevent transferring the planaria?
-Then get a small bucket put a little clean moss or plastic mesh in it, carefully scoop some water from the fire yellow tank into it, then net all the fire yellow into this bucket. careful not to take any plant/moss/soil with it.
-Acclimate the fire yellow using drip method.
-Use a new or clean net , ONLY net all the fire yellow into their new tank, don't take anything else including the moss in the bucket and water throw it away.
-This will minimize the % of transferring the planaria.

Don't why it is the address you give of your workplace is incorrect or what, the trace for the parcel never move.
See if you able to receive the parcel envelop tomorrow or not.

Thanks. I've got some crushed/powdered mineral stones under the gravel
That's me. The tank is only like 40+cm away from me on my desk so reflection is inevitable  laugh.gif

Yeah I got the micro version of that drip bucket too. Very convenient device.

The video ca be use as screen saver. You use mini tripod. So smooth. No shaking. The floating plant like cloud moving to breezing wind.
Add some sulawesi rabbit orange or yellow snail will be very nice.

There's a few types of nerites.

Check out the info on the other 2 from the link on the left. There are few other types too (not on that site). Horned nerites seem to be the smallest amongst the variety.

The biggest horn nerite in my tank seems to have turned to a lazy bum...noticed it has piggyback a smaller one past few days. Pity the small fella...the additional weight it has to carry...  sweat.gif
*
actually nerite snail is not that suitable in tank with ph lower then 7.6 as their shell will gradually erode and eventually lead to their died.
Nerite snail stay/look the best in brackish tank.

My tank lower than ph7.5 wor? So if I add them in = death sentence?
*
won't died instantly but slowly, can last one to two year but you will see the shell start to erode and got hole revealing their fresh.
slow torture.

And that's a huge leech !! Wonder what the cause of it? Excessive food?
*
Leech are hitchhiking on plants and sometime on shrimp you bought.
They won't suddenly be born out of the soil. Feeding live food is one of the possible way to bring them into tank too.

Need some advice from the Sifus out there....
I am using Seachem Prime, which will provide a natural slime coat to the water...
However, I am having these white particles on the surface of the water...

Anyone facing the same problem before?
Is it a good thing? Or should I remove those white particles?
Thanks in advance!
*
i using Seachem prime for almost 3yrs, never encounter those white particles, those slime coat is mean on the fish body.
Did you check if those white dust coming from your ceiling board ? or other place/stuff.

Water cleared , I think I better replace the plants my friend gave me laugh.gif

*
Your moss look yellowish, not healthy, can due to high temp, not enough light or fert.

*
Me too. rclxms.gif
Youliang , if you couple Malaya with palmata shrimp in one tank, you will have mutlicolor shrimp tank that wont cross/interbreed.
Malaya change color, Palmata born different color baby, what a opposite match.

Hi, wanted to ask those using eheim filter. Do you all buy back the eheim sponge or just cut yourself a new sponge?
*
those thick eheim blue sponge i hardly change, filter floss i change, just buy general one and cut(alot cheaper).
If want to buy cheap new eheim blue sponge, some lfs like east aqua do sell some at rm10 , those blue sponge they take out from filter when they do setup for customer.

Palmata Shrimp? heven't heard that before, can't find more info of it online as well. Do you have any website that talk about this shrimp? I wanna know more about it~

Thank you~
*
~Palmata , mr.google will help -> http://swisstropicals.com/Neocaridina%20palmata.html
only got picture here, without a clear description , so far different site give different info, but from my experience in keeping/breeding them
they do give birth to different color baby.
~I got red , blue , black, green and chocolate baby from a green male and green female adults, you can selective breed them by separate a certain color babyin a tank to breed to get that particular color only, so far able to do that with black and blue color.
~Of course when i sell the juvenile palmata, i wouldn't give those black & chocolate as those fetch higher price then other color , market price is like rm12-20 for chocolate & black per tail.

Btw, what is the moss name you using for the carpet grass?
*
Normally ppl use java moss. Just depend on you. Java moss is the most easier and grow fastest too. Mini fissiden and coral moss is nice bur slow grow and more demanding.
