I'm officially launching war with the seed shrimps in my tank. really getting too many already. now manually filtering the "bugs" out and they don't seem to be getting lesser, the next day, a lot back. lol.

How to do that?

Wanted to know about it as well, the damn bugs. Currently quarantine container with shrimplets and the bugs. time to move in to bigger tank.

Can invest in this , won't total remove them but will reduce their number significantly

Bought something at fish depot. Only catched few. Some knew its a trap! Damn..lol
Now i only fed them over the leaves of the plant...lol

siphon the bugs that I can see into a container.. then pour the water though the white filter gauze. luckily the gauze actually manage to trap these bugs. then pour it back into the tank. Very time consuming but managed to reduce quite a lot..till the next day when they reproduce again.. and the cycle continues

I tried this during my nematode infestation... continued doing it daily for a week. Caught a gazillion of them but one day don't do.... population goes back to normal.

Maybe use salt?

then how? the only way is to restart the tank?

actually those seed shrimp they help in cleaning up diatoms and unfinished food in your tank,
the only bad thing about them is the ugly look.

Yea they are pretty effective, all the alage near my substrate cleared by them, even now I don't have to scrub my tank walls for a few weeks already still clear thanks to them i guess, clean. But too many of these seed shrimps really look ugly

I restarted but for the wrong reason.... my tank got WMD attacked when office was spraying disinfectant.

End up killing every non-plant living organism in the tank.

What you do every weekend now? without aircond?

Now I turn on the tank fan before leaving the office.... put on my auto top-off contraption and that's it.

Weather getting colder here now so I think this weekend no need to turn on liao.

Do you guys vacuum your gravel/substrate or just leave the shrimp poo to sink and decompose?

I don't vacuum the soil coz if I do the soil gets vacuumed too...

Just let nature takes it's course... since shrimp bioloads are small... the poop even smaller. Still need it to generate BB
