hehe, we're all learning. I have multiple shrimp food, but its rather expensive. One small bottle between RM40 to RM60+ depending on the type.

Was thinking of supplementing with kangkung from the kitchen so as to reduce costs. I did that a few times - boil a leaf for 2 minutes, then put into the tank. I observe for 5 minutes and see the shrimps were not interested.

Two hours later I come back, I cannot find the leaf. I thought maybe stuck somewhere in the aquarium since its a planted tank. Tried it twice - twice also the leaf was nowhere to be found.

I'm not sure about feeding other fresh food - whether can feed barley, broccoli and so on. And for meat, can cut a small piece of raw fresh prawn (yes the one that you eat) since I see shrimps also eat dead fish or dead prawn (yeah, sometimes they die in the tank). Anyway, just a thought.

I think u should put CCTV see what they do in that 2 hours. Could it hv been sucked in by the filter?

Ermm actually I'm not sure got any adverse effect anot Cozy I didn't have any shrimp food. So I try pumpkin lo. Lol... Anyway I just put in hot water to make it softer. Then throw in tank. But seriously I'm not sure if should feed them with pumpkin or not. So try at own risk. Lol. I'll get proper shrimp food this weekend.

Oh it's a new setup. I thought it was your previous setup. What shrimps will this new tank hold? Noticed that the base of both is different.

These are Vorticella Parasite, you can get rid of them, by dipping the shrimp with seachem paraguard or some aquarium salt.

I tried feed my shrimps with fresh coconut. (the harder flesh)
so far 4 days already still see them munching on it getting thinner day by day.
what i like about it is it doesn't dirty the water (no fine particles) when they are eating it.
so far no adverse effect. all of them malayan, rili , frs doing good in separate tanks.

Kesian your shrimp. Its eaten alive. Is that Blue Diamond? RM12 to 15 a piece?

I think arrow can advise better, as I'm new to this. For moulting problems, increase water hardness, between 150 TDS and above.
There are also certain foods to feed, but I'm not sure what they are.

Did you tweak your water with mineral additives to adjust the kh/ gh / tds?
A higher kh/gh value is more important to neocaridina shrimp.
Bee shrimp more on lower kh/gh .
For neo, you can use salty shrimp sulawesi 7.5 salt for them. It suit them too.

Must be nutritious. The flesh got oil right wouldn't the water get a layer of oil?

The shop I bought from sold as blue velvet. Buy 3 free 1 at rm 15 a piece... I thought his fren was helping him. Turn out he was helping himself 😡. I took the shrimp out but it didn't survive.

I have both cardina and neocardina in the same tank. I just tested the gh at 3. Is it too low? What products should I use to increase?

Since you have Crystal shrimp in there , you cant push gh too high,
Get at least gh5.

For shrimp having problem taking out their old shell during molting , and they still alive, you can try help them by carefully help them peel off the shell, this at least got 50% chances to save them.

Hi arrow,

Why my CRS does not breed? But my cherries breed like crazy? I think if I had to estimate how many cherries including all the babies, I would say easily over 500 tails is a conservative estimate. First batch was only 12 about 6-7 months ago.

4 months ago, I added 12 CRS and 6 Tigers. I lost a few due to jumpers, and 1 CRS died in the tank after I did a big WC. Then I added maybe 6 more CRS/CBS to replenish the losses.

In mid-end December, I saw one Tiger was berried. But its no longer berried now and I never saw the babies. And I've never seen any CRS berried.

Now I think I have left at least 15 CRS/CBS combo and 4 or 5 Tigers.

Any idea why the cherries can breed, but CRS cannot? I understand Tigers are the same category with CRS and will interbreed?
