1. Annual Income: Roughly RM25k (+-), Likely soon to be RM30k 2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Must (either outright or by minimum swipes) 3. Card required for: Rebate/Cash Back, Petrol (Shell preferred, if that matters), not sure about other things, maybe airfare etc. 4. Existing credit cards if any: None - this will be a first CC for me. 5. Looking at CC from: not sure yet, awaiting suggestions (I currently have a savings account with MBB, if that matters) 6. Others: Any rewards. My idea is that I'd always be able to make the monthly repayment (in full) so I won't have to pay for extra charges/penalties/interest but at the same time get some rewards and or benefits. |

QUOTE(beyond86 @ May 10 2014, 04:26 PM) Maybankard 2 Cards what about the UOB One Card? Seems like it has much more cashback.Min Annual Income: RM30000 As Gen-X mentioned: I would recommend Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX earns you 5X Treats Points (equivalent to 2% when redeeming for cash vouchers) everyday PLUS additional 5% on weekends. This Maybank 2 Card AMEX is good if you can pump petrol on Saturday and Sunday. |

QUOTE(beyond86 @ May 10 2014, 04:47 PM) UOB One Card 5% only for petrol & cinema, but at the end depend what u want, which cc more suitable to your lifestyle then go for it I'm torn.Because the UOB One Card does provide more cashback. I think this has an annual fee of RM68 or FREE for 60 transactions per year (average 5 per month). Whereas the Maybank one provides only 5% for weekend transactions, which is capped at RM50 per month, meaning the max cashback spending I'd make is RM1000 a month (for CC-able transactions). Of course to fully utilise the Maybank option, id have to make it a habit of spending on weekends. So yea, I'm a little undecided between these 2. |

QUOTE(Wongchoy @ May 10 2014, 10:00 PM) Based on your info, i'm pretty much sure MBB will not easily approve your application. UOB, on the other hand is more lenient in approving cards.... Esp. newcomer. Get a UOB card first. And use your card responsibly and be a good paymaster. By early 2015, you will have a nice ccris report to impress MBB, then thats the time you apply. Any reason why? |

QUOTE(Wongchoy @ May 10 2014, 10:04 PM) Thats because in terms of reputation, this is the best entry level card on the market right now... With the No. 2 a distant behind ! I'm not too worried about the application, I it won't cost me anything if they don't approve it anyway. Just want to know which card is better. Also for the Maybank, seems like all the perks are in the Amex card.. so what is the other card for? |

QUOTE(cybpsych @ May 10 2014, 10:14 PM) read thru this http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2013/10...n-malaysia.html Thanks for the links and I have read (briefly) thru them.and this http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2013/12...edit-cards.html Sorry to sound like a broken record, but another Q. When/How do you know when it is worth it for the cashback to use a CC in light of CC surcharge as oppose to using Cash/debit? |

QUOTE(victorywp @ May 10 2014, 10:28 PM) if to compare based on petrol only: Can you enlighten me the point of giving 2 cards? I've read the rewards etc. for the cards but can't seem to find anytime where I would use the non-Amex card unless the place I use it won't accept amex. 1) uob one card 5%+2% smart$ (bhp only) - available every day 2) mbb2amex 5%+2% conversion from tp (all petrol stations) - available weekends only I feel like I'm missing something. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 10 2014, 10:42 PM) There is no surcharge for local transactions (with the exception for some PC shops which is illegal) Thanks.. after alot of feedback.. I think I've made my choice. This is the feature of the Maybank 2 cards. Many of us just keep the visa/master counterpart in drawer. For your case, it may come handy when AMEX is not accepted. You get 1x point. |
