I asked for Syntium 3000. I think most SC will provide a default Petronas type if no instruction given.

The SC showed me following Syntium range.

1. Syntium 3000 (5W-40)
2. Syntium 1000 (15W-50)
3. Syntium 800 (15W-50)

Anyone know what is the diff between 1000 & 800. Price almost double.

You have to pay more also for Syntium 3000.

Ohh now i remember, the SC also put in XR1 Petrol Treatment. Did not ask for this but it was not very expensive (RM28) so tak apa lah.

Also the knocking, is the sound similar to shaking a spray can with the ball inside?

My SC is down in JB unless you want to drive all the way here.

BTW i asked the SC if can use my own EO but they say now cannot. So not sure why some SC can do it and others can't. And their Syntium 3000 is not cheap, they sell it at RM219 for 4L.

The EO alone is like 80% of the service cost.

Hmmm like that i must find another SC in JB that will accept my own EO.

But the current SC give good service. Even call me to ask if everything ok and 1st service they detected some oil leak from a gasket at the left side wheel which i did not know until they call me to send in the car for free replacement.

Seems they send the report to Proton and Proton approved the free replacement. I am guessing they were not sure if Proton will give free replacement so did not mention to manage expectations.

Maybe i will try that SC near Plentong but need to make appointment first and the waiting list is like 1 week long.

Anyone racechipped their car here?
*
I also want to know because the petrol saving is quite good but how does it save petrol and give performance boost at the same time.

Normally if performance boost means more petrol used.

P.S i am very happy with the current performance just want the petrol saving the race chip can offer.

Free for 1 Year but you own the Yes Huddle. RM60 per month is topped up into your account for 1 Year so plenty of credit to use.

Rattling sound in Proton is all down to quality of parts used and workmanship.

If they just tape up all the clips, most of the rattling will be gone. However i damn scared ask SC to open up the panels because they quite rough and sometimes fix 1 rattling sound 2 more come up from somewhere else.

So learn to live with it. Expect rattling and you will be at peace. smile.gif

Maybe this is the reason they provide BAX2 tires, loud so cannot hear other sound.

Clever Proton.....

I believe, after some time the ECU "learns" the fuel you are using. In my case, after 30,000 km I used 2 full tanks of RON97. Right after fuel up, if feel the car somewhat lethargic (compared to when I 1st tried RON97 at <5000km mileage). The FC is good though. Only about 300 km after refuelling do I feel the RON97 giving better performance.

I guess the ECU needs to "relearn" to advance the ignition timing.

Butt dyno only, no scientific evidence or methodology.

P.S. Drex Chan (EA Autoworks) mentioned that if you install Race Chip, you need to drive at least 50 km for the ECU to take full advantage of it.
*
Can the Race Chip give better FC after install? They claim can get better FC but have my doubts because increase performance normally the FC will go up.

Seems no one on the forum have installed Race Chip or ones that have Race Chip installed at not on this forum.

Racechip claims 1 L/100km savings. Most on facebook say no much difference in FC.

Like that i dun want to install Racechip as i am quite happy with the performance.

Rather use the money to change the noisy tires rclxms.gif

I got CFE model aka Turbo. So far no major issue except for some rattling from the dashboard due to quality of fitting.

Then last week i found out that the left side doors, they did not screw the part where the door locks to the hinges. The door part not the hinge attached to the body of the car. DIY it and all good now.

Apart from that, just did my 10K service using 5w-40 Shell EO but i feel my FC still a bit high. Can get about 400km before the low fuel indicator appears with a full tank with a mix of 70% city driving and 30% highway. My indicator show average like 11.3 and still monitoring.

complaint on the bolded part bro, my CFE doesn't have steering vibration even during 160kph
just say to SC you have the helicopter sound, they'll replace your rotors for free.
i've got that sound straight coming out from showroom, and after 1500km mileage (this is the time i go for my first service) the sound still present when braking. so they replace it.my SA at COSE write it down as "spongy brake" and he said its common issue for preve so they're ready about it already biggrin.gif

no sound anymore when braking after rotor's replaced. thumbup.gif
*
Do you need to do tyre balancing and alignment again after the rotor's are replaced?

I notice this helicopter sound as well but only if brake quite hard. If not hardly any sound.

Damn! My one week old Preve was towed to SC last night sad.gif

Yesterday after work I'm going home, shen I slot in the key fob, the meter cluster suddenly went off, and I can't start the engine. The brake pedal was like jammed, battery, check engine and engine oil warning sign lighted, and also the battery low warning.
I called WE-CARE, was told to disconnect the car battery and wait for 15 minutes before re-connect, then try to start. I followed that, nope, still can't start. Called WE-CARE again, but the operating hour was past, so I was redirect to emergency assistance line. They arrange a technician to come over.
The technician arrived after one and a half hours, he tried to jump start my car, the engine started. Then we test drive a bit, found that when the radiator fan starts the headlamps will become dimmed, and when switch on the air-con the engine was cut off!!!
The technician suggested to call tow truck to tow the car to SC. Then my car was towed to SC at Larkin (I'm in Johor Bahru).
This morning I went to SC, lot of people there... Wait until around 3pm finally they started to work on my car, and around 3.30pm they finished working. I was told it was wiring problem and they also change a new battery. They also advised me to get my front brake replaced during my 1000km service because of the helicopter sound they found during testing my car.
I was annoyed that my one week old new car was to be towed to SC, but I must praise the Larkin SC for their service and nice attitude.
More annoying, yesterday when my colleagues saw my car's problem, everyone said "See, why buy Proton lar? Better buy a Toyota!!!"
*
Not bad SC. Managed to get your Preve fixed really fast.

BTW i am curious about this helicopter sound from the brakes. Do you need to brake hard to hear it?

Service voucher? Thought it is free labour for 1,000 km, 10,000km and 20,000 km service?

The cooling fan only works if the turbo is too hot.
*
The free labour is only valid for 1 year and not based on 1000, 10,000km and 20,000km.

So if your mileage is low, it may be possible to exceed 1 year even before you hit 20,000km.

Hello, why my sc told me is 1000, 5000 and 10000 yea?
*
You need to clarify with your SC as my SC told me that the free labour only applicable for 1st year.

Many ppl should hit 10k under a year but it some rare cases, some might not like those who only drive like 20km every day, your mileage will only be about 9k and miss the last free service.
