ok so this is stupid. My CFE didnt want to engage the CVT
1) Stopped at red light. Since it was a long stop, I changed to N. 2) Flat road, so handbrake not pulled. 3) When the light turned green, changed to D 4) Car didn't move and the CVT error lit up on the panel 5) Had to restart the engine Thank god the error didn't appear after that and the car was able to move. Earlier that morning, engine start took significantly longer than usual So anybody had experienced it? |

QUOTE(sanadi @ Oct 31 2013, 06:44 PM) Went to EA Autoworks and enabled DRL. You need to take off the bumpers. Glad I paid Drex RM250 to do it. all these DRL mods.....are you sure we share 100% the same hardware as suprima s?the stroboscope flashing ensures longer LED lifetime you know. Putting it under constant lighting will reduce it unless a proper calculation is made to regulate the voltage. if they are 100% the same, then it is ok i think because for sure Proton or it's vendor had done the math. |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Oct 31 2013, 08:38 PM) Haven't got into a situation such as yours yet. May I ask how old is your vehicle? I am pissed to be honest with such unexpected issue. An issue can lead to multiple others and may be recurring as well, in which case let's hope it's not going to be the worst one could imagine. Also, what do you mean when you mentioned "engine start took significantly longer than usual"? Do you mean after you have pressed the start button the engine takes longer than usual to crank start? BTW my CFE is about 2 months old only. The engine start part, it cranked alright but it took almost 5 seconds to start whereas normally it took about 1 second only after the button was pressed |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Oct 31 2013, 09:54 PM) Hopefully it's just a minor glitch in the electronics that cause the CVT prompt error to come up. If the problem comes up again the 2nd time then it's better to get it resolved at the service centre. It's good that the car can be restarted. What if it can't, would be a hassle to get it towed back to the SC. For the engine start, I have made it a habit to press the button twice, although the manual says any method is good. If I directly start the engine or press the button once only, often the hazard light will light up As for the starting of the engine, do you press it only once or twice? The proper method is to press the start button once without stepping on the brakes after the key is inserted into the slot, then step on the brakes (at this moment the light on the start button will turn green) and press the start button the 2nd time (with the brakes still depressed). If you are following this method and still the engine takes (a massive) 5 seconds to start, then something is wrong. Usually it's just about 1 second. 5 seconds is just wrong and quite taxing on the engine. May be harmful to the engine in the long run too. Better get it checked next time when the car is in the service centre. I don't experience the issues that you have but I have some minor issues that I will highlight to the SC once the vehicle is due for service. My Preve Turbo is about 3 months old. Today another funny thing happened, the driver door unlocked/opened during movement! Haha many people have their boot lid automatically opened, but mine is something else |

So my car cranks a good few seconds before it starts and it has been happening rather often in the morning.
Am really hoping this cold start thing is not going to cause any issue though I have the feeling it will D: |

ok now, for the 2nd time, my CVT3 went error during gear change to D at a stop. Had to restart the engine.
This is a bad sign already. Anybody faced the same issue? Just so that I am aware of what the SC should be checking. |

QUOTE(matS @ Nov 23 2013, 11:17 PM) error during gear change?? the 2nd time it happened:does the cvt warning light lit up or the engine dead, or the gearbox seems to feel weird? 1. Stop at a drive thru 2. Shift gear to N 3. Finish ordering, change to D 4. CVT warning error symbol lights up. Engine still on, car isnt movable 5. Manually turn off engine and start again just a simple stop-start step on a very even surface and such issue happened. |

So I went to a branch SC to have my CVT checked up. I had issues with it twice.
Then, to my surprise, the person told me Proton is not able to read out the error code from the TCU. They dont have the software/equipment. They can only clear the error. I was told, this is applicable even to COE. Haha can any of you confirm this? I have contacted Punch regarding the CVT and they asked me to retrieve the error code. But this is just....I dont get it. |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Dec 10 2013, 12:41 PM) The sound from the seat came back. Need to bring the car to the service centre by end of the month to have a permanent solution. I have the same issue as well. It became noticable around 1-2 months of ownership.I just reported to the SC and they claimed, they have tightened something. BUT, lol I just dont know how serious they are towards customers' complaints. Nothing improved! And this SC is a branch ok. |

QUOTE(Gigabit @ Dec 12 2013, 02:40 PM) Which SC? Mind you, my car after changing one way valve, engine died...sc said crankshaft sensor faulty causing engine to die off... Bachang, Melaka. I took a day off for this hoping everything will be solved. I understand if they troubleshoot it and then cant pinpoint the root cause, it is ok as long as the issue subsides. But in my case, the first 10m of driving, I already heard the creaking sound, just as before I let them check. Another thing, tinting at rear left quarter glass peeling off. Was ok when send into sc....haiyo....proton still have a long way to go in providing acceptable service quality. |

The car has 5 years warranty. But what are actually covered for 5 years (other than power window and ecotint)? In the booklet, seems like all the major parts are covered for 36 months only.
And also, I have read multiple times, people say, it is in the booklet, that a semi synth eo can go up to 10k interval. I have read cover to cover and I just cant find this statement. |

QUOTE(Kiffer @ Dec 21 2013, 11:46 AM) Well, that happened sooner than i thought. i really cant believe they still deliver newer cars with this kind of QC.When I press the brake to slow down, especially from higher speed (but not very high), there's this duk-duk-duk-duk-duk sound. Is that normal? this has been a known problem since the beginning, caused by their vendor. why proton isnt fucuking the vendor upside down, baffles me. but yeah, as pointed out, please send to SC and insist on a new front brake discs. Dont agree to skimming resurfacing or anything. |

QUOTE(farghmee @ Dec 20 2013, 05:21 PM) personally i like preve's layout. in all honesty, the preve's interior is classy. of course, when it comes to material choice, there are better options but they are expensive. the faux wood for the cfe is visually very pleasant.easy to operate switches. good seating position. ah..linear power, i like. may be when the time is right, i'm gonna buy one, inSyaAllah the minimalist approach to the dashboard is very appealing actually, to me at least, very conti-ish. i prefer it far more to the other brands'. i hope proton will not go overboard with it for the coming models. |

QUOTE(13_baron @ Jan 2 2014, 07:10 PM) dont push it.....dont put yourself in that debt position, especially in the current economy weather.IAFM+ is totally ok for day to day usage. For sure, you can still have a decent conversation within the car during movement. Which car has that bad of noise insulation nowadays.... If you have been in other Proton cars and can accept their noise level, then you are going to be OK with this. It is pretty much as noisy as Waja. A simple swap of better tyres can help already - but you dont need it given the budget constraint. |
