After a brief encounter with a speedster on Kesas highway 2 or 3 days ago, I can confirm that the Preve Turbo's acceleration is more powerful than the Toyota Camry 2.0.

On the eventual night, this Toyota Camry 2.0 bearing registration number P** 33 was approaching fast on the right lane on Kesas highway from KL to Klang when I looked at the rear mirror. Within minutes it was sticking to my vehicle like a leech at a very close distance seemingly wanting to knock my car off the road. Hence, I moved to the left and let it pass. Then I moved back to the right lane and followed the Camry as the driver continued with his antics in tailgating cars at close distances.

Just after the Bukit Rimau toll, the traffic was cleared and coincidentally the Camry moved to the left and let my vehicle pass since my vehicle was traveling at an equally high speed. When I slowed down due to a slow vehicle in front, again the Camry came close to pushing my vehicle off the road. Just as the vehicle in front moved to the left, there is a long stretch of clear road in front of me, and that is the point where the Preve Turbo showed the Camry 2.0 a clean pair of heels. I accelerated from 110km/h to 160km/h and left the Camry in the dust. On that eventual day, the Camry 2.0 failed in its attempt to push my car off the fast lane.

I had a similar experience but with a Honda driver on the highway. I cruised behind him then when it was clear, i floored the pedal and let the car go until 180km/h.

Smoked that Civic 2.0 good.

Well, although my average speed is 130km/h on the highways, I will almost never drive very close to vehicles that are in front of me and keep a distance away. Can't say the same with other motorists who have a habit of driving very close to the rear of other vehicles in an attempt to knock them off the road. 180km/h is about the limit the Preve Turbo can go as at that speed the noise from the engine is very loud already.

So you were behind this Honda driver, not in front of him. My case was different as I am in front of this Camry driver, and this Camry driver behind me wants to knock me off the road. Just the opportunity came when the slow car in front of me moved to the left and I floored the pedal. The Camry failed to play catching up as the car slowly disappeared in sight when I looked at the rear mirror.

The power of the Preve Turbo is surely good, but the noise of the engine during hard acceleration is just a bit loud and unrefined, and closer to top speed the sound of the engine sounds "weird".

I just saw this Table posted from another thread on the main forum. Surprisingly the Preve Turbo's 0-100km/h and 80-120km/h acceleration are even quicker than the Honda Civic 2.0. All the while my impression was the Civic 2.0 VTEC is capable of even better acceleration around 9.0s or so. Perhaps these tabulated figures can be used as a estimate benchmark in gauging the acceleration power of the vehicles that were tested.

Those figure are done in real world test, they did few run and average it iinm. Not bad for preve turbo...

Do you have the link showing the details of the test, considering you mentioned the tests were carried out in few runs with the results averaged? Yes, the acceleration power of the Preve Turbo is certainly not bad. The main aspect that I don't like about the Preve Turbo is the loud and harsh sound from the engine during hard acceleration and increased levels of vibration in the vehicle in these situations.

Thanks for the link captain. Any idea why the Ford Focus model shown in the Table as attached here(GDI 6A/T 2012) does not correspond to the Focus model in the link? (TDCi 6A/T)? The GDI is the petrol version of the current Focus model being sold here whereas the TDCi is the diesel version of the Focus. I spotted on the difference when I noticed the 0-100km/h and 80-120km/h times are different between the table shown over here above this page, and the table in the Headlightmag link.

The Thais really go all out in their reviews, including doing some 0-100km/h and 80-120km/h times and the long writeup as shown in link.

This morning my colleague was sitting in my Preve Turbo. For the first time when I reversed the car today, the engine died by itself, and I need to press the push button to restart the engine. Anybody experienced the same thing? When you reverse the car, the engine died?

Also, consistent remarks about the noisy engine/CVT when the car is accelerating, coupled by some minor QAQC rattling sound.
