hi... thx for the prompt input... although chk around internet without detailed rgd this upgrade for upcoming model, and dont think our technical competitive SA will knw n share abt it...

so wat abt the price, will there be price hike... around how much...  nd to chk whether justify for price hike as current model with RM3-5K rebate...

appreciate for further input, thx n cheers...
*
I think this is internal document meant for management, leaked on Facebook. SA don't know this. But the rumour is *no price increase*. My advise is, if you can wait, just wait till official statement from Proton.

when is proton recalled for VVT? what's the problem?
*
Around Sept 2012. Only for chassis no G000488 - G002193, i.e. 1st batches just after launch. I bought mine in June 2012, and chassis no is 57XX. So this is old news.

Yes, I have tried Petronas Primax, Caltex Techron and BHP only. When the mileage is lower, say between 1,000km to 8,000km, Caltex seems to provide a more powerful acceleration compared to Petronas. BHP is also good but Caltex feels great. The car seems to be less energetic ie. less powerful acceleration, coupled by engine knocking with Petronas. With Caltex and BHP, more powerful acceleration and less knocking.

But know, with the mileage >8,000km, seems like the type of fuel is more or less similar. Little or no more knocking with all types of fuel, even Petronas Primax.

I didn't try RON97 before. Perhaps I will try sometime. Do you pump RON97 everytime, or you just tried RON97 just for several times before switching to RON95?

Yes, I agree that the engine sounds slightly more refined wtih more mileage. My car is about 8,700km now. Still 1,300km to go before the 10,000km service, and I expect the performance from the engine to be better, more refined and smoother acceleration.
*
I believe, after some time the ECU "learns" the fuel you are using. In my case, after 30,000 km I used 2 full tanks of RON97. Right after fuel up, if feel the car somewhat lethargic (compared to when I 1st tried RON97 at <5000km mileage). The FC is good though. Only about 300 km after refuelling do I feel the RON97 giving better performance.

I guess the ECU needs to "relearn" to advance the ignition timing.

Butt dyno only, no scientific evidence or methodology.

P.S. Drex Chan (EA Autoworks) mentioned that if you install Race Chip, you need to drive at least 50 km for the ECU to take full advantage of it.

Can the Race Chip give better FC after install? They claim can get better FC but have my doubts because increase performance normally the FC will go up.

Seems no one on the forum have installed Race Chip or ones that have Race Chip installed at not on this forum.
*
Racechip claims 1 L/100km savings. Most on facebook say no much difference in FC.

mind you the seat is not so comfort for long drive yo~

It depends on your size & posture I guess. I've driven 12 hours (Raya jam) and feel just fine. I do tend to sit quite upright.

As a side-note, when at the service centre today, I saw a service advisor driving a Proton Suprima S. When he stepped out of the vehicle, I approached him and asked him some questions on the Suprima S, since I was interested in the difference between the leather seats of it vs. the fabric seats in the Preve. My impression is the leather seats in the Suprima S will be more comfortable than the fabric seats in the Preve.

The answer I got from him turned out to be the opposite. He informed that his manager has driven both Suprima S and Preve on long journeys outstation. In long journeys outstation trips, the fabric seats of the Preve was said to be more comfortable than the leather seats of the Suprima S mainly because the fabric is softer. He mentioned his manager got slight backache in the Suprima S. Is the leather seat in the Suprima S that hard and more uncomfortable than the Preve?

On short journeys, no difference in comfort between the leather and fabric seats. Only in long journeys, the fabric seats is said to be more comfortable than the leather seats. Funny. If that is the case, the leather seats must be the hard type. The only good thing going for the leather seats, according to the service advisor, is it looks better than the fabric seats. That I agree, as the fabric seats look cheap in comparison to the leather. However, in comfort, the fabric seats are said to be more comfortable.
*
About the seat, depends on the individual. Me, I prefer fabric seat. I tend to sweat a bit especially at the back. I get a bit uncomfortable after more than 3 hours on leather seat. But fabric seats I can drive for quite a long time.

ur car is new? new car engine tends to have much higher friction when it is new...this is normally due to micro imperfection of the engine~~ so it need sometime to "wear in / break in / run in" ...
some said 10,000KM....some say 5,000KM~~depending on the engine... (google it)

so after 1,000KM oil change, try to hantam you engine a bit to make sure the engine blocks sits correctly in place and reduce friction~~~

full tank (50L) for 400km in city drive with new engine wasn't that bad in my opinion...try avoid the jam and go out of town...at 100KM/hr can achieve 6.6L/100KM based on the instant FC calculation displayed~~

Anyway...dont compare Preve CFE's FC with normal 1.6 engine car~~the FC should be comparable to 2.0 car especially when u are running in city constant stop and go situation~~
*
I was looking at my fuel data for my ex-Accord and my Preve. Same driver, same driving style, same FC! But what the statistics don't show is that Preve FC is much better on highway compared to my ex-Accord. Compared to my dad's iVTEC Accord however, they both have similar highway FC, but Accord has worse city FC (due to my dad's driving style).

How long it took you to update the table >.<
any special software?
*
You mean how long the data went back (more data, more accurate the statistics)? 1 year+ data for Preve, 9 years for Accord.

If you mean how quickly I create the table? It was point and click. I used this software: http://www.carcaresoftware.com/

A free option that I am also using is the fuelly website. This is my statistics: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/sanadi/preve/annual

hmm~~i have a very weird problem just now~~
my car (CFE) is parked in front of my friend's house hence blocking the main gate...when my friend's wife is coming back...she called and inform me to remove the car as she is about to reach...

when i move away and parked at the side waiting for his wife to park inside the house....i opened my driver side window and was thinking to stop the engine (by pressing the push start button) as i do not know exactly when is she coming back~~~~but the engine refuse to stop even after multiple try~~

even after i closed the window it does not seems to response to the command~~
i stop trying after pushing it more than 10 times and wait for another 2 minutes or so (a bit panic already) and try again after that~~this time finally the engine stopped...

any one has the same experience as me?
*
Press and hold until the engine stops. Like force shutting down a PC.

lol at most they will void my HU warranty...I am not too bothered as their gps navigation's map is really not up to date and pretty rubbish, (anyone knows how to update it?) I stop short of modding the entire HU becos my wife will be driving it, tongue.gif

this is how it looks like on the screen at night
*
To update the GPS, you need to pay Bosch (not Proton) RM330 for updated map. Don't bother, they are using Tom Tom map. Tom Tom has good map for Europe. But for Malaysia, even their latest map is woefully inaccurate.

You can view latest Tom Tom map here: http://www.tomtom.com/livetraffic/

In Malaysia, these maps are the best and most accurate:
* Waze
* Garmin with malfreemaps or malsingmaps
* Papago with malfreemaps

Hmm but is there a way we can update the map in the HU by ourselves?
*
Cannot. There is no compiler for Tom Tom maps that is openly available. For garmin you have navigasi.net for Indonesia, MapMyIndia for India, MSM & MFM for Malaysia, OpenStreetMaps for the rest of the world. We can use cgpsmapper, which is a compiler for Garmin maps. There is none for Tom Tom. I even went looking in some "underground" sites, and there are no reliable compiler for Tom Tom.

In short, avoid Tom Tom.

Just wondering...did you press the brake when you floor it?

Hehe if you want to test handling... run from Kampar to Tapah exit at 5AM. lol
*
Yep, Preve has a clutch connected to the engine flywheel. Then that clutch is connected to the CVT then to the wheels. You have to drive it like a manual. Pull the handbrake, press accelerator, wait until the car wants to forward then *slowly* release the handbrake.

I blame this on the Petronas engine deal between Proton! vmad.gif

why now can't bring own oil? because of the deal. previously it was allowed.
*
It is up to individual SC. The SC near Kajang actually uses Shell Helix oils. But they have the policy of not allowing *outside* oil.

It is not that you must use Petronas oil exclusively, it is just you can only use oil from the SC. Partly due to worries of fake oil and partly for SC's business.

So is the CFE, once you do some mods on the exhaust. Not mine, a PREVOC member's car.

Hmm how extensive is the mods?
i find it interesting if it is just exhaust system modifications...

wonder when will R3 come out with their own performance mods for Preve
*
From youtube:
Modifications:
1. Turbo downpipe de-cat with straight pipe
2. Added mid-pipe bullet
3. High flow aftermarket exhaust
4. High flow air filter
5. Turbo hose tie
6. Turbo wastegate helper spring
7. Voltage stabilizer

You can click watch on youtube. The owner discusses a few other things he intends to do such as boost spring.

Just got my preve yesterday...wondered how to bypass the alarm if the remote transmitter doesn't work..i know how to manually unlock the door, but if  u open the door,it will activate the alarm...my SA told me to remove the battery connector  to bypass the alarm..is there any other way??
*
The alarm will sound. But once you insert the key, the alarm will be disabled. Similar to Exora's Body Control Module (BCM). But Preve's better, Advanced Body Control Module (ABCM).

what I mean is I read somewhere that the wifi is not working when we're driving, only when the car is not moving we can use the wifi. Loan got approved today, most probably will get my Suprima Premiun next week wub.gif
*
The Yes4G works anywhere there is a signal, whether moving or not. But Preve's head unit cannot connect to wifi from Yes4G. You need to use your tablet or smartphone for that.

Suprima S head unit however can connect to wifi while not moving. To get it to work while moving you need to "root" the head unit. That has been done by the Suprima S community.
