in that case, you have to find the market. nobody said that it's going
to be easy. but i really think that you must have something to offer that beyond the ordinary.
make sure you make a survey or make an online or offline poll ,
meeting the right people and so on.
bottom line is you really don't know if you haven't try.
anyway good luck wif your project.

There are millions of free templates and flash that can be downloaded from Internet. Research on that to determine whether your project is feasible.

Thanks for your advise. Than how about the web design? All of us are design fans and we believe we can done well in designing flash and also website. The main problem is i found that there are too many web design freelancer available in Malaysia, it is a big challance for us, rite? What is your comment?

You can defiintely sell them if:

a) They're very good
b) Can be customized
c) You don't charge the Earth

Best of luck. Another thing you'll need to consider is method of payment. And be wary of cheap clients that might try to get your product for free.

Probably u guys can sacrifice the first one or two months to come up with a portfolio of designs that u can put up, or possibly join with a backend developer to offer complete web application solutions that has rich content and dynamic.

I disagree that you should join them in selling flash/website templates. You can't really find much templates in the internet that is FREE for download, but then there are already alot of sites selling these for a fee. That's tough competition.

So now, if you're gearing for the Malaysian Market, its terrible prospect too. I managed to download acclaimed templates from BitTorrent for free which were sold on sites online elsewhere....

I guess the closest thing your friends could do is customization as according to client's needs. Let's not start capitalizing on the general market, whether international or in the homeland.

I think u should put 50-50 on both selling templates and web design. To be safer start from webdesign by approaching targeted clients and pile up ur portfolio at the same. my 2 cents. Once u got ur popularity in malaysia market then that could be added value to ur templates.

Hey bro,

Not to be a wet blanket but what the others say its true. The market here in Malaysia is really really tough. The only ppl that might be your potential customers are the SME. And most of them want it cheap and fast. So if you can package everything for them then it might prove to be a good service. Example. Free domain name registration, server location, web development (not only templates but navigation and stuff) Whole works plus maybe even helping them with wordings on their site. Also yearly support as in paying for the domain name or server fees if any.

Things you need to consider.
1) Can I price it lower than other free lancers?
2) Can I delivery fast and quality product?

Finding people and contacts wont be too hard once you can acheive the two. Words spread around. So far I have know people that do Rm 50 for a page but its ridiculous for you to start that way. So ask around

All the best

the market is tough alright, but if the product is good and attractively priced and strategically marketed, you might just make it. its a volume game.

on the orther hand.... 6 partners??? buddy after you've deducted the cost, the profit is gonna be so thin you might need another job just to stay afloat.

just my opinion.

Best way now is to create your portfolio. Create a website(buy a domain) and then show what you are capable of. Then post all ur solutions and pricing for potential customer. Then post your website in every forum in malaysia. That should get you started. Name cards and all later. Hope that helps
