ask at the unifi thread, here is Ipv6 discussion

QUOTE(raynman @ Feb 10 2017, 01:33 PM)
Why suddenly this thread is inundated with non-IPv6 postings?
*
Because the topic name is TMnet Streamyx/Unifi & IPv6.

QUOTE(kupang @ Feb 10 2017, 03:28 PM)
might have to amend the topic ..
because it says TMnet Streamyx/Unifi  "AND"  IPv6
*
Exactly.

I suggest to close this topic and open a new one name 'Only about IPv6 for Unifi/Streamyx'.

Exactly.
Logically, two conditions must be true in order to post in the thread because of the & operator, hence, only IPV6 in Unfi/Streamyx environment are allowed to post here. brows.gif

Trying to connect my laptop via UniFi IPV6. Router is a WNR3500L running Tomato Shibby build.

I set it for Native IPV6 from ISP, prefix length 64, static DNS from Google. I get assigned an IPV6 WAN address, and I can ping ipv6.google.com from the router.

But if I go to adapter settings in Win 8.1 I can see "IPV6 No internet connection" and ipv6-test.com tells me it's not working.

Any tips?

I got it working ... to some extent. I chose DHCPv6 as the mode instead of Native from ISP. Prefix length 64. RA from WAN ticked. Google static DNS.

My laptop got assigned an IPV6 IP and I could browse most websites, HOWEVER I could not access mail.yahoo.com (many others worldwide complain about this using IPV6) AND this very forum! What's up with that?? I disabled IPV6 in the router and now I'm able to get on LYN again.

Hi, I just talked to a TM support technician and I somewhat managed to set up IPv6 (or not) sweat.gif

Here are the settings suggested by the technician:

Running the ipv6 test seems to tell me that I do not have a valid ipv6 address, but strangely the router page seems to tell me otherwise. hmm.gif

I'm using a TP-Link Archer AC1200 router (the one issued by TM). hmm.gif

Try rebooting both modem and router

I rebooted and I still can't get an IPv6 address sweat.gif

Update: it looks like my adapter properties says that I have IPv6 connectivity hmm.gif

Update 2: Looks like Google's IPv6 test and the https://www.wieistmeineip.de/ipv6-test/ test seems to verify that IPv6 is working brows.gif

Any idea on why can't I load lowyat.net and forum.lowyat.net once I enabled IPV6? Using TP Link W8970-V3 currently. Google's IPV6 test and test-ipv6.com shows that I'm connected.

Same problem for me with IPV6 enabled - can't load LYN forum. Browser connects to URL but page doesn't load.

Got (feel) cheated by Unifi. They called me late last year around Nov/Dec asking me to upgrade from 5 to 10mbps. At first I was reluctant because I'm not a heavy user and mostly use it for foruming, downloading movies. That's all. I was happy with the speed and the price, which was around RM150ish including GST.

But, when they offered me a free upgrade from 10 to 30 with the same price of RM179 (excluding GST), then only I was poisoned and agreed to upgrade. They say, with the government new policy, they will able to upgrade me to the new speed for free.

BUT, after new year, and now in the month of February, I didn't get any upgrade. So I called Unifi. They said to me that they do not know about such promo, and asked me when was the time I agreed to do that, including the person who called me.

Wtf right, are they assuming me to remember all that? Didn't they have all the records about their staff?

So, I was so mad and asked them what should I do? They can't give any closure but asked me to wait for the THANK YOU email or something.

After quite some times, I received the email. Guess what I got, free HyppTV channels.

Damn I feel cheated.

So have you guys experienced such gimmick but end up with stupid freebies?

first thing of all, you need to be able to assure that its tm calling and not the sales agent making the pitch. agencies are cunning as hell and bears no responsibilities except hitting target sales.

2ndly, the thank you upgrade is based on what package you subscribed and how they allocate the freebies, its entirely up to them to give out what they wanna give. not all users entitled to the speed upgrades

so basically, TM didn't con you, it's the agency that did

Same here.
At least I was able to utilize working native IPV6 for several years.

I can get IPv6 only when i don't set DNS within the router to Google. Leaving it to using the stock TM DNS would make a successful connection, but it would limit my "freedom" on the net.
For now i've set it to Local Addresses only so no IPv6 connections to TM.

Seems like IPv6 is reserved for a specific purpose.

Maybe the gov is snooping on us... why else would TM routers come without the custom dns setting intentionally disabled.
If you guys know where to look at, take a look on the DIR-850L firmware v2.08TM/v2.07TM and compare it with the global version

Right now im the only firmware version that has custom DNS setting available is v2.06sg... Which unfortunately also has a buffer overflow exploit, although it has been patched in v2.07

If anyone can re-evaluate & confirm my findings that would be helpful

Nah, unlikely.
Probably routing or configuration issue at TM side.
In my case and other few forummers, our routers and PCs/devices are assigned (radvd + slaac) with public IPv6 addresses, but no internet connectivity even when configuring router to use/get TM IPv6 DNS automatically.

Doubt TM gonna fix it anytime soon.
After all, the legendary youtube ipv6 50kb/s throttling for streamyx users has been there since year 2011.

Hi is anyone know whether i can use D'link DIR 815 as my streamyx 8mbps router (being a wifi router only). this is because my current modem router's wifi signal is very weak.
