Eh guys, any experience in buying second hand cameras?
Anything to look out for? I plan to look for a second hand D7100 if possible that matches the price of a first hand D7000.
A little pushy on the luck side but that's possible right? sweat.gif
*
D7100 is still pretty new, I'm not so sure there will be a lot of 2nd hand units hmm.gif
No harm trying your luck though, since you are not buying in a rush~

Otherwise, just stick to the D7000 nod.gif

ya got a bit blown out, but in order to blow up sky this is the best i can do. i not sure how to use PS to edit NEF file like JPG like normal way. normally edit NEF files i just slide the slider in RAW editor  unsure.gif
*
Can use brush right to selectively reduce the brightness of the overexposed parts? hmm.gif
I think the Flyer in the 1st photo abit "senget" also liao haha, perhaps can correct the distortion too?

Just my noob 2 cents haha, I am never good at taking landscape shots tongue.gif

On a side note Agito666 and Tanji you both have ever considered buying this for your viewfinders?

Haha, always getting inspiration during midnight bro? notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Aiyoyo, your gear recommendations are always good, thanks for sharing! haha notworthy.gif
I might need it for macro, cause sometimes its really hard to see whether things are in focus or not doh.gif
Must be expensive right? Have to remove the original eyepiece to use? hmm.gif

Thanks in advance for the reply~

Sifus, do you all actually use any types of filters for the lens?
I know many people does put filters but I'd like to ask if there anyone putting a dummy filter to protect the lens or not sweat.gif so expensive LA the gear
*
Yes, we use UV filters as protection for the lens for normal shooting~
Its cheaper to replace a filter rather than the entire lens laugh.gif

There are more specialized CPL filters etc. for more specific photography needs icon_rolleyes.gif

Bro can explain a little about the filters? Not too familiar with filters sweat.gif
UV filters are considered dummy filters? I thought you get saturated colour out of UV filter also?
*
For normal usage, UV filters will be enough nod.gif
Before the digital age, cameras shoot using negative films, which, when exposed to UV, will affect the quality of the final photo (at least that's what I know), which is why there is a such a thing as UV filter.

Of course, digital cameras are not affected by UV anymore, so the filters now serve as protection to the lens.
There are good and bad UV filters though, where bad ones might actually degrade photo quality~

Specialized lens like CPL and ND filters, I think better I leave for other sifus to comment haha, I never used them before lol... all I know is CPL can retain sky blue colors/prevent reflections whereas ND filters are like "sunglasses" for your lens to enable long exposure shots even during the day tongue.gif

in raw editor? or need export to JPEG then edit again?
hmm flyer senget... i google a bit and saw many senget photo  unsure.gif  *runs*
because that time i switch to JPEG due to RAW file storage i only can shot 100 shot for my 8GB CF card...but then later on i still switched to RAW  unsure.gif
*
Eh, I thought you are using Lightroom? hmm.gif
Oh, I meant the Flyer seemed a bit distorted, probably caused by the lens, should be able to correct it via lens profile in Lightroom.

Time for new SD card brows.gif brows.gif

Wow, pictures really getting a lot better. Were these shot with all 68mm ET on?

Oh and, are jumping spiders common? Can't seem to find them whereever I go, maybe I have to go to more rural areas? Really like their eyes, but never have a chance to meet them  cry.gif
*
Thank you bro, much appreciated~
All shots were taken with 56mm only (the final 12mm seemed a bit too fragile to support the heavy 105mm lens, didn't want to take the risk of dropping laugh.gif)

Yeah, jumping spiders are one of the most common bro, just that most people remain oblivious to them, once you know how to look for them, you can see them virtually everywhere, and that includes walls of buildings brows.gif

Can start with any house garden, find one plant and start looking, you'll be amazed at how many spiders you may find~

QUOTE(copperwire93 @ Nov 11 2013, 01:02 PM)
Beautiful! Usually I'm not into insects macro, but this set is an exception. Nice tone too! Are they split tones?
*
Thanks man! No I never use split tones for my macro shots to retain original colors which will be useful for publications in the future. The colour effects are caused mainly by the mixed usage of the ET, 105mm lens and also flash. The choice of plant and flower may also be the reason haha, more colorful = attractive laugh.gif

QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Nov 11 2013, 02:43 PM)
Awesome  tongue.gif

Do you use any flash for them? At f16, ISO 400, 1/250, the lighting seems pretty bright and harsh (mid noon), but your photos look soft.
*
Thank you thank you happy.gif
Yes, all shots were taken with flash. Right now my flash is paired with a softbox recommended by gunzerdude sifu~ Although its big like hell, the results are spectacular thumbup.gif

a watermark basically is something near logo or icon, which is first glance you will know what what is that shiat.

eg: CY pixel, his logo is the one of the best yet simplified and easy to recognize, not to mention his avatar in forum also helping memorize the logo.  laugh.gif

another nice one is Tan Ji's logo  laugh.gif

about the purpose it is up to you either block whole photo for prevent steal it for using it like POS LAJU whistling.gif
or just use it as a credit purpose.
*
Thank you bro~ Usually it will be nicer to have a fixed logo or signature I suppose tongue.gif
I watermark my stuffs to avoid stealing by POS Malaysia laugh.gif
But as what Flickr mentioned, there is no fool-proof way of preventing photo theft, apart from not uploading the photo at all T______T

QUOTE(freddy manson @ Nov 12 2013, 02:55 PM)
I usually put a small watermark just to feel special hahaha..
and let people know who is the owner, the shooter of those average-looking pics

but i think Lightroom can do bulk watermark-adding when u export the pics, kan?
*
I suppose the trick is to keep it as simple as you can, like most of the sifus are doing here nod.gif
Can try downloading some better and nicer fonts to stand out too~
Personally, I'd advice not to use the word "Photography" as a watermark until you are really pro haha, cause once you put that word in, expectations (and even hostility) towards you will increase T____T

Yeah, Lightroom can do bulk watermark, but afaik, they are all placed at the same exact location, so it might be a pain if the watermark doesn't blend too well with the background hmm.gif

Nope, these bigger scale events charges for entry and venue is PWTC! Even some of the smaller auto event also charges like RM10 or so.
Hehe thank you! Always wanted a simple and yet unique to myself logo so basically can't just type it.
Thanks!
Here's how my watermark kinda evolved...

hmm... i think that's a bit too complicated, might turns out distracting at the end. moreoever, if someone wants to know who the photographer/ artist/ owner of the pic, they need to scan  the code, which makes things even worse and adds the burden.
*
I agree hmm.gif

If they really want to see more of the photos, a simple Google won't hurt I suppose laugh.gif

A man offered me to sell his Raynox 250 and plastic extension tube for RM250, do you think it's worth it for learning macro? I am thinking to put it with my Nikkor 35mm. Any advice guys?
*
The deal seemed pretty alright if the Raynox 250 is in very pristine conditions nod.gif
Otherwise, just stick to getting plastic extension tubes, they offer high enough magnifications for you to start learning already nod.gif
You will also need flash for better shots, can either get a flashgun or DIY a diffuser icon_rolleyes.gif
Most of the macro sifus have a Raynox 250 for their setups, though I have never tried one yet hmm.gif
