Here to report that today is Day No. 6 of using my Note III and happy to note that my White Note III back cover is still pristine. Probably it is just very hard durable plastic like what Samsung did for the Galaxy Nexus White which was still in perfect condition (no turning yellow colour or stains) after 1 year + of using it previously. No regret at all getting white so far. Let's hope this lasts.

QUOTE(cjxs @ Sep 30 2013, 12:13 PM) I am very curious and jealous on some of the members' SOT which can reached ard 4 to 5 hours. Is 3g on all the time? That's why you should never bother about SOT reports from user-to-user as there is just too many variables. Mine, from 7am to 6pm 3g on only manage to give me 2 1/2 hours SOT, the most. Only using for whatsapping, a few calls. I am not into doing all kind of stuff to save battery as I belief the phone should serve me but not otherwise. But i am just curious. 4 hrs vs 2 1/2 hrs! Can someone enlighthen me? Will grab an extra battery and charging dock once its available in Samsung Strore. If you want a better comparison, check GSMArena's battery rating which uses controlled variables for testing and is a more reliable source of reference. QUOTE(lookie @ Sep 30 2013, 12:15 PM) just shooting here, but maybe you can try to clear the data cache of Samsung keyboard. Yes, I have to agree. The firmware for Note III (maybe due to Android OS 4.3) is not refined and many minor bugs experienced by me and those around me who are using Note III as well. Those that complain that they did not see any bugs maybe are not using the phone as heavily as we do, or maybe they don't mind the minor bugs.I feel that this first release firware is a bit rush, come across quite a few of niggly bugs like developer option not sticking, lost the ringtone list, not recognising my custom ringtones etc. sometimes clearing the data helps. |

QUOTE(blinky @ Sep 30 2013, 12:56 PM) I had this issue when I first got my Note III and installed WhatsApp.After I did a factory reset few days ago, and then reinstalled WhasApp, everything seems to be okay. All WhatsApp notifications now work properly when phone is on standby (locked). |

QUOTE(WiLyi @ Sep 30 2013, 01:01 PM) Did you enable power saving? Sometimes this could caused by Whatsapp server or your connection is off during screen off which sometimes will happened if you enable power saving where the phone cut of wireless radio to save power Power Saving feature in TouchWiz does not do that. Only Sony's Stamina Mode feature in Sony Android phones turn off data connection when screen is off. |

Hey everyone and TS joytest
Wanna share my experience and some info with the original SView cover for the Note III. I tested my white Note III with a black SView cover and the auto lock/unlock works including the SView feature but ONLY limited to when you are receiving calls. Everything else does NOT work unfortunately - like when u close the cover, the display on the SView window is blank. Now after changing to a white SView cover instead, every SView function works perfectly. So if u have a black or white Note III, u should get the same coloured SView the same as your Note III. As the other SView cover colours are not out yet besides black and white, I'm hoping that Samsung fixes this issue in a newer firmware. Happy shopping for your SView cover ! |

QUOTE(881118 @ Oct 1 2013, 06:32 PM) LOL, got such things??? Yeah. Really funny right? I regret of not testing it on the spot and brought it home, then could not work. After going back to the Samsung centre, then they mentioned currently it can only work when they are both the same colours.Or is it random defect on the cover? Did you try your BLACK Sview cover with another BLACK GN3 and make sure it works??? 1 or 2 users in xda and hardwarezone forums also had same issues but they didn't know the reason as well. Only found out today when I tested at the Samsung centre. Yes, the black cover I was using works perfectly with a black a note III. |

QUOTE(N7100 @ Oct 1 2013, 06:31 PM) Yes. In each SView cover, there is a special sensor with microchip that allows the phone to detect the presence of an original SView cover. The magnet is still present on the cover though. That's why those 3rd party covers with windows can't work because they lack this Samsung microchip. Only the Note III has this 'security' feature and not in S4 SView covers. |

QUOTE(destEX @ Oct 1 2013, 06:52 PM) so bad, i wanted to orange flip cover very very much, but now how? don't tell me need to buy orange colour-ed phone only can use leh? this is tyranny By right it is not supposed to happen in the first place, else they should have stated it on their box and website itself. But I guess it's just a firmware issue and let's hope Samsung will fix it soon. Other colours besides black and white should have no issues as they are meant for both phone colours? LOL. But it is indeed very WEIRD if Samsung really thinks that black Note 3 will only use black SView covers and vice versa... |

QUOTE(joytest @ Oct 1 2013, 07:01 PM) This shouldn't be the case. It should just be a chip that says "I'm an S-View cover" and the Note 3 should just switch on whatever S-View functions there are. Color should have nothing to do with it. There's a microchip at the SView cover (the part where you cover the back of the phone, replacing your original Note III back cover) which has two metal connectors. These two same connectors make contact with another two perfectly aligned contacts on the Note III internally, the area next to the battery. If they have this, not sure if they still need NFC since the phone itself can already read the SView cover's data through these physical connectors. This leads me to think that it's an NFC chip in the S-View cover.... In which case, IF anyone gets a 3rd party battery without NFC, their S-View cover may not work. I'll try to post up a photo later so that everyone knows clearly what I'm referring to. |

QUOTE(881118 @ Oct 1 2013, 07:07 PM) Somehow my guess is the Sview cover got a 5 gold pins that connect to the back of your device (5 gold slots) Yes, this is correct.Previously I saw someone posted his cover (non wireless charging type) but with 5 gold pins. He thought those are for wireless charging. Normal backplate don't have any pin at all. Maybe 3 pins are designed for wireless charging while 2 pins are for sview cover authentication. But anyway, this is kinda lame. 5 contacts - for the Wireless SView covers with wireless-charging ability. 2 contacts - for the standard Sview covers just for transmitting authentication data to the Note III to confirm that the SView cover is indeed original. QUOTE(joytest @ Oct 1 2013, 07:18 PM) 3 pins for wireless charging ..... 1 must be for voltage detection and adjustment.... Yes, IIANM it should be Qi standard. It will be interesting to see how that works out. If it can provide GCC readings of 600mA or more, then it's worth getting. QUOTE(gogo2 @ Oct 1 2013, 07:18 PM) Yes, indeed very weird. Unless they became very greedy?QUOTE(jason111785 @ Oct 1 2013, 07:21 PM) Interesting. Perhaps only the fault lies in black SView cover on white Note III. Need another person with black SView cover to test on their white Note III. |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Oct 1 2013, 07:24 PM) Yes, most likely so if someone else here did not have the issue apparently. Or there was a batch of defective ones. Funny that they tested the black SView on another black Note III and it works at the shop, but not on my white Note III. The irony!Cause the SView does work when receiving calls, but only turns blank when doing other things. This post has been edited by shockk: Oct 1 2013, 07:28 PM |

QUOTE(shadowzephyr @ Oct 1 2013, 08:48 PM) Sure. Thanks for sharing! I love what you did to your homescreen. 1. Apex Launcher Pro 2. ClickUI Theme 3. Zooper Widget Free I can provide the steps if you want. Yeah, thats one of the greatest thing I love with Android. MinimalistUI, GlaskLart, Holo and ClickUI are list of my favorite. How about you? Great, thanks! So, I take your advise then. Well, at least the pics is still view able. QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 1 2013, 09:53 PM) Nox, Flatro, Holler (black & white), MinimalUI, Romow Round, Rounded Great, thanks Fruitie! Time to do some tweaking this weekend. You will feel the friction but doesn't really affect your swiping experience. QUOTE(gahkin @ Oct 1 2013, 11:03 PM) hi all, did u all got feel when we press the power button it will delay to turn off the screen into standby mode?? and the home button will be easy to become loose???? i worry it easy broken and become loose... Physical buttons will always wear and tear. It depends on how often you use it and how hard you abuse it. You can just Google for Galaxy S3 / S4 / Note / Note II button problems and many threads will come up. That's why I'm using the SView flip cover now on my Note III that will minimize the use of the power button greatly. QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Oct 1 2013, 11:27 PM) I downloaded the Galaxy Lifestyle app straight from Play Store, and not using Samsung own app store. But to be honest, it is total crap and not needed since the most noteworthy ones are Evernote and Dropbox redemptions which do not require the app. Only the Office Suite Pro (which I don't fancy) are probably worth another look.QUOTE(881118 @ Oct 2 2013, 12:06 AM) I said ONE of the reasons. I was using Xperia Z Ultra for some time and that is truly a phone not meant for one-hand. The Note III fits perfectly in either one of my hands and most of the time, that is enough. If I were to go for something truly for single-handed use, 5" is also too big, and would prefer all-the-way-compact then like on my iPhone 5.Or else I won't so fast buy, I will wait for Nexus 5 and XiaoMi3, and then compared first. Anyhow, 5 inches is best for 1 handed usage. I cannot grip nicely and perform 1 handed usage if the device is larger than 5 inches. This post has been edited by shockk: Oct 2 2013, 01:43 AM |

QUOTE(mikko2 @ Oct 2 2013, 01:39 AM) Any apps to Close/ wakeup phone without clicking home/power button like Tapping the screen to wake it up. You can try Gravity Screen.I'm using the Pro version and it seems to be working pretty good on my Z Ultra. Do note that such apps might drain battery life a little bit. So far my Note III not using it as I have the SView cover. |
