I recently acquired a 2005 Proton Gen2 and I notice the erratic fuel gauge reading..

I've replaced the fuel pump assy with a new ori unit and got the wiring checked numerous times..I'm reluctant to change the meter cluster unit coz I'm afraid its not the culprit..

Anyone with similar issue on their gen2 and got it fixed?

Hai..im also own gen2 2005..having this problem few months now..i think the problem is with the meter cluster.. i have change fuel pump and still having erratic reading...then i swap the meter cluster with my friend's gen2.. my friend's meter cluster work well with my car and my meter cluster gives erratic reading on his car..so the meter cluster is the culprit...rclxub.gif

gen2 fuel meter is not linear wan, from half tank down it's misleading

I read about an Indonesian's experience with his problem on another forum, that some weight or pressure on the wiring cables along the left side of the boot (under the carpeting) just beside the left passenger seat would cause erratic reading sometimes dropping down to zero or giving the wrong reading.

So I checked mine, true enough, the cables had dropped down and got stuck between the seat and the side metal when the rear left seat was opened to access the boot and closed again.

Just by lifting the cables up again away from the pressure made the meter work fine. This worked for me. rclxms.gif

Recently I also faced this problem.. I still thinking whether want to fix it or not? How much it cost to fix it? Cluster? Wiring? Or fuel sensor?

Just recently got this problem also. Wasting my RM 380 to replace the fuel pump relay set. Then after several weeks, the problem happen again.

Will try to check cable as suggested by @gen2_lover

Sorry for digging old topic, but just want to give an input.

My dad's Persona (about 15 years old) had the same problem recently, which the fuel gauge was just dead, and the culprit was the meter cluster. Replaced it and everything went back to normal.
