i didnt realize got deals.. i wasn't in kl during the pc fair, and bought at authorized acer delaer for 1099 on friday last week in digital mall.. now using without protector and cover... does w3 screen protector can be used with w4? and where i can get crunch cover only? not sure where to get these 2..
went to buy asus fonepad 7 too.. was looking around but no stock. went to buy at subang but only 8gb version available.. then when i went to digital mall, there were 16gb version at a few ringgit cheaper..

Reason for the low W4 supply is because their W3, W510, W700 tablet sales were low. All their dealers & distributer giving same excuses that there is very low demand for Windows tablet. When these sort of communications goes to the top management, they dont dare to carry more stocks considering the general market sentiment is poor & buyers are very cautious of increased living cost.
I was having bfast one day & the fellow sitting next table happened to be one of the local Microsoft mgmt person coordinating Windows pc sales in M'sia. He was giving same kind of reporting to his overseas boss over the phone.
I think W5 sales were ok until the Asus Vivotab smart came in and shook up the price. The Clovertrail was quite good, and paved the way for the Baytrail we now have.

Warranty you can register on Acer Website, but if you fiddle with the Acer Cloud program, after the initial account creation they'll mention that the device is registered for warranty.. Is it worth it? I uninstalled the app even BEFORE someone else mentioned that it was sucking up CPU cycles.
after windows automatic update in friday, i cannot sign into microsoft store. the loading circle keep turning, after a while it close automatically and without any notification. i just using w4 in wednesday.
For the device need higher ampare volatge, it need thicker cable..............otherwise will charge very slow
Didn't you see the video? The funny thing is.. with the thin cable it can charge even though it's only 0.3A.. wait till I post the follow up video, it boggles the mind even more!!
There is one, since Win7. Quite good for my 12'' Acer 1825 but not for W4.
Firstly it is a full sized keyboard, with page up/down, print screen etc. Too big for W4. Secondly, due to the Microsoft weirdness, you need to launch it from app list, called on screen keyboard. The one with the docked icon is presumably the newer one meant for smaller screen. My 1825 launch the big full sized one with predictions.
The one you mentioned is actually the legacy one since the old Windows.
The only problem I noticed with this tablet is that if I tried to charge the unit when it is still on, sometimes the tablet just become not responsive. Or if I have put the unit to sleep (screen off) and then charges the unit, then sometimes I cannot use the power-on button to wake it. So to avoid all these problems, I simply don't charge the unit unless it has been shut down. As the units last a long time on a charge so this is only a little annoyance to me. Maybe this is the reason Acer decides to wait a month before selling this in USA?
This seems to be the usual Windows Update bug, which is if it applies an update while it's in Connected Standby, it might fail to wake up. One way to prevent this is to turn off the automatic installation of updates.
It will certainly help when opening large CAD files. I do that for opening large Google Sketchup files on my end. Higher ram is needed especially when u need to rotate model in 3D. By the way I can really feel the difference between normal other brand class 10 vs extreme microsdxc. During 3D rotating, there is less lag time.
Of course don't expect too much from the Atom but it provides enough capability to do editing or viewing of design while on the go in such a compact form factor.
I've tested difference between Ultra and Extreme, on the Acer W4, the biggest difference is in WRITE speed, READS on the Extreme are just slightly faster.
Finally I made the an overview demo video of the Acer W4, not very good at doing general reviews like this, let me know if you guys want me to test anything more.
And in case anyone's interested here's a boring look at how Microsoft Office works on the Acer W4.. Not really sure how much more I could make typing in Word or Excel look any exciting
