I'm sure by the time Asus vivo tab 8 launch, the price will be permanently RM899....no need to rush for limited units.
*
IF the Asus Vivotab 8 launches here. Sorry to be cynical, but I've been burned many times by OEMs who don't bring in stuff ppl actually want to buy. tongue.gif But hopefully all the demand for the Baytrails should encourage them more.

8 inch Windows 8 tablet looks tempting and the good thing is x86 that can almost all applications.

The catch is, so far only Internet Explorer supports multi touch. That day I installed Google Chrome on Iconia W3 (not W4) display unit in Harvey Norman... it doesn't work... only scrolling up and down sad.gif
*
I think you need to install the METRO version of Chrome

Not really, I installed google chrome last week and it's in metro mode, until I switched it to desktop mode due to alipay site need to be desktop mode.

That's what I remembered, I know Chrome had something to run in Metro mode.

What issue? Never had problem with Bluetooth.

On the other hand, downloaded bios 1.13 and drivers 1.03 packages. Seem like having the same content when I unzipped it. Totally forgot had to plug in AC power when flashing bios. Was wondering why it didn't work.

The flickering screen now totally gone. Nice update.
*
Driver package usually contains the BIOS update.

Just saw your W4 vs Venue 8 Pro video. I saw you get awful FPS in Risk of Rain. I tried the demo on mine and it does not lag at all. Very smooth for the mouse and gameplay.
*
Yeah, about that.. it's funny..

I can get great FPS.. but it seems like it's only for ONE time every system reboot... well... I still stand by my words, if you're trying to play PC games on a non gaming PC, it'll always be hit or miss! wink.gif

Asphalt 8 is now FREE on the Windows Store, if you downloaded the trial previously, be sure to delete it and then 'buy' it again to get the full version.

Hi Marauderz, any luck on testing out the new BIOS update on the bluetooth issue? am hoping that the new update would solve the bluetooth issue before getting W4 3G and return the V8P.
*
Just installed the update last night, I'll run some tests and see.. don't have high hopes though..

I was anxiously waiting for the 3g version to be released. Right now, only Courts Singapore has stock for the non-3g version and they have no idea when they will get the stock for the 3g version.

honestly I like my v8p. the build is much better than w4 but without the the 3g version is kinda inconvenient as tethering suckz the juice out from my mega 5.8. on top of that, miracast is kinda intermittent on my v8p. I was hoping to use it as a replacement for my laptop for presentation.

I understand that you have both v8p and w4. which do you prefer?
*
The Bluetooth seems to be ok, but of course I could be wrong since the thing is so random in it's problems. Gonna try and watch a movie through my BT speakers and see how well it works since duration seems to be one of the causes for it to have a problem.

I just gotten my own Miracast dongle as well, after some of the things I've read it seems like performance is very much dependant on which dongle you're using. I got this AVF one, what about you?

Which do I prefer? Honestly.. I much prefer Dell actually.. I really like caressing the back of it... mmmmmm.... tongue.gif

Have you watched my comparison videos?

yes.. the back is quite soothing of a sort. heh...

yep. watched your comparison videos. the bluetooth issue is the main thing that is keeping me from getting w4-3g. tried w4 at the store and it is definitely weighty compared to v8p. I like to do some light reading on my bed before i sleep. w4 kinda heavy to hold for long... maybe its a good thing... after holding a while, tired and falls asleep. hah.
*
Well well well... you're right.. There DOES seem to be something wrong with the VP8 miracast support, try this.. DON'T connect to any Wifi when you're miracasting, even if you do, DON'T try to do anything heavy with it.. ie.. browsing the web, watching videos, etc. etc.

Yes.. that sounds ridiculous but that's what I was seeing yesterday. If it's using the WiFi ONLY for miracast, it's fine and everything works fine. Try to do something else at the same time, and it dies HORRIBLY...

May i know in case the window 8 got problem and unable to log into window, is the acer recovery management the only option to restore back to factory default? or is there any other method to reinstall back the window?
*
You should always try to use the recovery partition to recover your system first.

I was able to miracast using my Note3  (mirroring) and DLNA... but when I tried using on my v8p, occasionally cannot connect. likewise having the same issue with my hp envy too. I am wondering if its the dongle or something else.
*
Oh wait.. looks like I need to test this some more, when I use my phone to give the V8P internet instead of my office WiFi, there doesn't seem to be an issue... hmmm..

Oh... scratch that.. just died.. but lasted longer than previously using the office wifi.

Is the dongle WIDI certified? Having miracast doesn't mean it conforms to WIDI standard. Read many people having similar issues with Miracast dongle that worked fine on Android but failed with Intel WIDI on PC/NB...
*
That could be it, let me just try it with the Acer more and see how it goes.

Hi.

I am just a recent owner of W4.

When I play Despicable Me: minion rush got smooth play but suddenly hang with audio loop. I tried other games from Store such as Dungeon Hunter 4, 3Dmark and Asphalt 7 also the same problem happens. need to press power button few seconds to restart.

Already update the latest driver and bios 1.13 still have this problem

I think it is not because software problem. Anybody faced the same issue? Perhaps need to send warranty.
*
When you say suddenly, how often does it happen, cause it's fine when I try it.

Back to the Miracast thing.. it's farked up.. sometimes it seems to work great, sometimes not so great. I have a theory now that if I connect to the same AP which the dongle is connected to, I get better results, compared to leaving the dongle with a non internet connection and then connecting to it as p2p

Probably the way the dongle handles data transmission?

Anyhow, according to my dongle seller, he said its widi certified (shrugs). I will order the actiontec unit as well as Tronsmart T1000 and test them out to monitor if there's any improvement.

By the way, any bluetooth updates on the new firmware?
*
I watched a whole movie using BT audio the other night, no breaks, no lags... keyboards weren't showing immediate problems, I'm still sceptical.

Hi thanks for replying.

It happens almost everytime I play (heavy) games or 3D apps. I didn't play Despicable Me myself but my kid will cry everytime it hangs. Never happens with my previous W3.

When it freezes, the sound is really irritating and need to hard reboot it.

Something wrong with my unit.
*
Well.. considering I've run many heavy games without issues, you might want to get it checked out I guess.

hmm.gif I just got my miracast dongle last night, it seem the mirror mode running at slow speed. Not smooth
and it automatic off the sound too.

a bit disappointment on this
*
Automatic turn off the onboard speaker? If it's the same as mine I guess you can just turn off the program which talks to the dongle, when it's in Miracast mode you done need it on already.

Some additional testing has basically told me that mine is just WEIRD... sometimes it's great.. sometimes not so great... sometimes it'll die because it's trying to mirror 1080P, sometimes it works fantastically with very little lag.

Sometimes it'll die by just trying to refresh a notepad opened on the screen tongue.gif

Hi, can anyone tell me how to use the widi (wi-fi display) on the w4 if it supports it at all....tqvm
*
It supports miracast which I guess is widi ?

Problem is the results are so unpredictable, we're not really sure if its the dongle or device that's causing the problems.
