Jenkinson looks so intent on making that cross when Wilshere is just behind him. Nice pressing anyway. WBA is still expecting to score even in the dying minute. Expect either some fantastic result, or a decent draw.

MOTM... flamini. All over the pitch, defending and involved in attacking.
What engine does he have inside his chest?

Draw, but our unbeaten record still stays. rclxms.gif

Good play, lads. Very entertaining indeed, and the lost at Spurs makes a decent consolation for us in the table.

I gotta agree with most, Jenkinson was our weakest link, but not to say he was piss poor. His main task was defending, yet he contributed mostly up front. WBA were really strong today, and it shows when they're playing good football in the second half.

personally, I think Wilshere was one of our best players tonight, albeit an erratic performance throughout the game. Never have I seen so much fouls committed on him in the first half, yet he stood up and played on...that's on aspect of British players that I respect. They're rather tough and strong.
The faith Wenger showed him by playing him in the second half was justified. He came on with a level mind, controlled his emotions and scored where it matters. Our team played with better quality after that goal. By the end of the game, Wilshere went anonymous again but you can see after the whistle, he's quite happy and doing well without any signs of fatigue or injuries.

Bawak bertenang kalian. The imminent return of Cazorla and Walcott means we will have reloaded our cannon with quite some firepower by the next match smile.gif

Yup, I just realized we were playing without true wingers today.

QUOTE(Chinoz @ Oct 7 2013, 10:35 AM)
On the 1st incident, it would've been a very harsh penalty if awarded.
The WBA player had one hand behind his back and the other arm outstretched. The ball hit the former, and as the commentator said then, it did not make the player any bigger, hence no penalty.
If it had hit his outstretched arm, then it would've been a penalty.

On the 2nd incident, judging from the replays yesterday, it does look like the WBA player slid in from the side (from the ref's angle) and not the back, and got the ball first before catching Wilshere.
I thought it was a spot-on call to not award the penalty (that was after watching one replay, as compared to the ref's zero).

But I was initially worried that with the number of fouls on Wilshere, he'd get all hot-headed and pick up a 2nd yellow.
Thank god that didn't happen sweat.gif

We were very narrow yesterday, playing without any natural wingers, and lacked creativity and a plan B.
Was surprised Gnabry didn't come in, or maybe he was just rested.

Good point salvaged. Would've been a very different game if Anelka had put WBA 2-0 up early on.
Spurs getting spanked made the draw much sweeter laugh.gif

Good observation.
Be as it may, its arguably fair to say that the referree failed to protect the players on both sides when bodies keep falling on each other and tumbling in awkward positions. Even if its a fair call on some fouls, the tackles that went in really looks dangerous. The ref should blow his whistles and warn some players to keep the heat down.
He failed in doing that when everything that happens on the pitch went away without any concern at all.

Good news! I don't think Reus is ready for first team introduction. He will be the understudy for Walcott. nod.gif

QUOTE(Thumpy Ick @ Oct 7 2013, 12:32 PM)
for the german fans, how did podolski do at international level since he joined? is there a legit possibilitiy of an explosive link up between ozil and podolski? i dont watch international games, but in my head reus starts ahead of podolski. but before the rise of marco, is there good link up play between ozil and poldi?

I'm no expert, but from my observation, Podolski is a senior player in germany, and he compliments Miroslav Klose very well in a lot of games. Reus is the next generation of players for Germany. Özil can fit any type of tactics and any type of players because he is very good at adapting. Podolski is a direct player that offers fast counter and strong strike from outside the box. For experience, I rate Podolski higher than Reus.
