QUOTE(butthead @ Mar 2 2014, 03:38 PM) if there is no VTC on i-vtec... why call it intelligent-vtec in the first place... i read it from here http://asia.vtec.net/Reviews/4GCityPrev/index.htm . Although it is honda city, the engine is the same L15A i-vtec.the timing control is the essential part of a revolution which is why Honda decided to have a new name for it instead of their older VTEC naming....the variable valve timing is there to help optimize flow into the combustion at lower rev ranges to maximize power output at all rev ranges where the design of VTEC did not really take care of... a paragraph excerpts : » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « so, L-series and R-series doesn't have VTC. not sure how true it is though, maybe someone can shed some light on this. |

QUOTE(ckchan @ Apr 25 2014, 05:35 PM) my father took the car that day, was busy with work. He noticed no autolock, he send it to mechanic to fix it, not sure any electrical alteration or just jazz programming method. I only noticed it after i read the manual. the programming method for various mode can be found in page 132-136 |

some thing i ponder about. There are many threads on net about conversion from auto/cvt to manual, but there are no info on conversion from manual/auto to cvt. Is it feasible or have you guys heard of anyone done it before?

does anyone feel their jazz is quite lethargic at low rpm ?
i've ge8 for 1 year++ , noticed that from 0-2k rpm, i felt it is kinda "dying", gota pedal more to get decent acceleration(affect FC). i think it maybe the engine is as such or the auto transmission is upshifting way too fast. Noticed the differences after i drove my father's 8 years old vios. |

QUOTE(nm7 @ Sep 16 2015, 12:44 AM) I mean, what basis as in low rpm? How much throttle is fed? I guess at 10 to 15% throttle (i have an OBD II monitor showing the relative throttle position), the car would not really be haulin' ass. But, it is moving. If you want it to accelerate faster, then it makes sense to feed more throttle which it then kicks down a gear or two and send it moving. As stated, my low rpm is 0-2k rpm.If you've driven a City GM3 and above. You will understand how the econ button plays with the throttle curve and shift programs. The good thing on the City GM3 is that you always can have the gear lever put in "S" and then use the paddle shift to keep it in manual mode and stick it in any gear you want. It sort of helps in some way but isn't really solving the problem. Partly it is the shift program, partly the way the throttle is mapped, delays, lags and whatever from a DBW. GE has an ATF vs the CVT on the GK Sorry there, not familiar with city and my jazz doesnt have econ button. Maybe need 3rd party device to adjust the throttle response? QUOTE(baoz @ Sep 21 2015, 10:50 PM) I'm a new owner (1 month+) and I feel the same too. Was wondering if it's cos still new. Feel it's difficult to push past 80 km/hr (rpm keeps getting stuck at 3-4). My previous Myvi could pick up better than my current Jazz. Probably it is still new. Weird to see GK jazz has somewhat similar problem, thought different engine with cvt will have better power delivery than GE. But once it goes past 100 km/hr then it's smooth la. When I pull down to the S gear I don't have this "lethargy" problem but of course, will makan petrol right. I'm not goo at technical when it comes to driving so any sifu here can teach me how to pick up better? Especially when at traffic lights. I should try to drive GD and GK jazz to get a feel about them. |
