Bang n not cut off? I remember they usually cut of part of of the steel that is obstructing the driver.
Thanks anyway.
U use back the original speaker cable or add in new cables?
Thought of putting the amp below front seat though some said not advisable because of the oil tank underneath. Where do u locate ur amp?

No one cuts their door. If they have something that can bend it, they will bend instead of banging on it with a hammer la. Cutting / grinding it would be too drastic. Not to mention rusting because there is moisture inside the door.

For me, i did not pull new cables as mine was a fairly stock setup with no amps, processors or any fancy stuff. Just swap speakers, then HU at a later stage.

I don't know if it is actually possible to slot an amp there. The space is very limited unless the amp itself is very very thin. I have different seats in the car now and the lowest point is only a couple of CM away from touching the highest part of the flooring. Just enough to put the hand through and nothing more.

Bride zeta III on the driver side and a bride stradia II on passenger side.

The passenger side has been swapped back to stock due to complaints.

You need to check the sizing because that is the only way to tell. Usually it is the shoulder part that is problematic as it might rub {best case} or get blocked {worst case} by the B pillar. The rest is just the sizing on your hip and buttock.

So, you need to first check or if they let you test fit in the car to know if it works. Else, buy something you know someone else used before on the same car. Usually, recliner has less problems. But for me, i hate recliner as it is harder to get out and doesn't quite give the same level of support as full bucket does. But, if you are custom welding the rails, you might be able to offset the seat or maybe even angle it a bit to avoid hitting stuff. But then, you won't be seating straight and might be a bit weird.

Which is why i decided to fit a zeta on driver side and a stradia recliner on passenger side. But, apparently even a recliner is hard to get in and out especially if your female companion wears skirts and stuff. Something i didn't really thought of.

p/s: took a picture of the seat shoulder clearance against a stock unit. This is full bucket compared to stock, recliner is no longer in the car.

This is something you expect to see from the seat manufacturer

Without the rails, it won't tell much of the story. But you can at least get a gauge of whether it will be too huge for your car. As long as you are not driving some 2 seater japanese sports car from the late 90s to early 2000s or a kei car, most of the time it will be not much of an impact.

Thanks for the info. It is of great help. Will try to ask around. Thought of putting type R seat which I supposed is plug n play...

It doesn't make sense. There is a ton of  gk5 17"ers out there. Some even 18", if there is issues. It would have been a big fuss long ago.

As for drive shaft,  it is not good for it if it is lowered. Steering becomes heavier and the drive shaft is at an incorrect angle. That is why a roll center adjuster exists.

Wheel bearing getting a beating might be a fact due to the extra weight. But that is stuff years down the road

Jus for statistics. I ride on 17" also although gk5 cvt. No problem so far with the 5 speed atf unit.

Yes. I totally agreed. U will be surprised that some of the 17"rim is actually lighter than stock rim. So, weight is not a problem as long as u choose those light weight rim. In fact sport rim nowaday are very much lighter due to improved technology.

Replica rims no lighter la.

Agreed. That is the importance of getting a set of decent rim..at least thailand or taiwan made. Some replica rim are light being compromised by the strength.

I asked one of the old timers they said you can maintain your stock V Spec rim and upgrade the new shoe to 205/50/16 but your tire will look like donuts.  biggrin.gif

Don't go for hearsay...I am using 205/50/16 on stock rim
