What flagship protection though, afaik formations at yasen is disregarded. Day battle only heavily influenced hmm.gif

I usually put searchlight on flag cause since the flag will be first to shoot, so even if rekted afterwards wont have any effect on the other ships (other ships got more chance to shoot back)

My bad wrong term used, not Flagship protection, its Flagship slot will make the ship LESS likely to be aimed, thus it offset of the purpose of equipping Big Searchlight, and enemy will aim other DD/CL/CLT as usual.

By normal Yasen battle: Its good to equip Searchlight on FLAG, cause offset the Aggro chance and reap the benefit of increased Cut IN Chance.

But during EVENT BOSS Yasen, BB should attract more Aggro as possible to protect other critical DD/CLT for finish the BOSS off, thus equipping Big Searchlight at non-flag position BB.

I see, its still fall back to the Flagship protection VS Searchlight aggro...

Flagship Searchlight: Will make enemies divide attention and damage all the companion ships since companion ships will randomly tank the damage based on damage status.
Non-Flag Searchlight: All enemies will have larger chance to focus on 1 companion ships only.

Sry to all about my poor explanation on the Searchlight placement.

About the choice of ships to equip Searchlight, based my past exp:

1. If the BOSS require, Strong BB firepower + Installation(Sanshiki) + Long HP against "Relatively" high BOSS armor, Equip Searchlight on DD/CL, non-flagship slot
2. If it is to avoid resource/bucket cost, Equip SearchLight on Any ship, Flagship Slot
3. If the BOSS require, Critical Strike Cut In Torpedo Damage + non-Installation + Long HP & Overwhelming thick BOSS armor, Equip Searchlight on BB, non-Flagship slot

This time gonna try with bigger 150cm searchlight...

From what I learned that, Yasen only disregards the DAMAGE modifier of any formation => 100% damage at night ALWAYS, but other modifier and condition still follow the formation.

Just sharing my exp here:

1. Line Ahead => BOSS node and most of the battle nodes, Best accuracy for Opening/Closing Torpedo strikes
2. Double Line => Specialized in non-torpedo-focused Yasen & Aerial Battle node(single/double arrows), best defense/evasion against Shelling-based attacks
3. Line Abreast => Specialized in Torpedo-focused Day & Night Battles/ ASW, or Best defense/evasion against any Torpedo-based attacks
4. Diamond => This formation sux

Just to share about Improving Searchlight from +8 to +10:

Better use 100% chance as I failed twice in a go and wasted 4 screws + 2 searchlights when going from +8 to +9.

Just started to clear E1 today...

E1-EASY => Ship farming
E2-EASY => Ship Farming
E3-EASY => Ship Farming
E4-EASY => Ship Farming
E5-Medium => For E6 & E7 hard pathing, and farming Roma and bonus fighters.
E6-HARD => Definitely wont miss that Nonaka Squadron... Legendary infamous by history...
E7-Easy/HARD => Depending on remaining resources. Taigei/Ooyashio/Akitshushima top priority, Kou Medal is not within the plan.

After got 2 Kou Medals from previous events, I can conclude that, Kou medal is just plain Vanity unless you have everything collected.

Checklist:

1. Taigei
2. Teruzuki
3. I-401 + U-511
4. Unryuu
5. Sakawa + Noshiro
6. Takanami
7. Roma
8. Ooyashio
9. Akitsushima
10. Harukaze

E1-EASY because of Taigei, otherwise only can farm her at E6
E2-EASY because of Teruzuki

Above decision is due to previous events, I completed first few maps HARD and regret cause not enough resources to farm in HARD mode.

Tankhatsu and Type 1 land planes from E1 and E2 hard/medium, is not really impressive enough to gave up Farming~~ But Nonaka Squardron is whole different tier and worthy enough to throw a tons to get that weapon~

Going HARD to E6 is very optional, as I can always farm all my ships in EASY mode first, then only decide to get IOWA or get medal + IOWA~

bofors is ignorable if you got IOWA later...and we need only one for maya sama afterall. 
but i recommend to do medium so can clear E4 in hard mode
you can farm in D node alone in rotation with your remaining squad after clearing E7.

this map is really insane
taigei drop easily , dont need to wait to farm in event.
seriously i think i had drop like 10-15 taigei for last year+ this year
just by doing 2-5 monthly , 5-2 occasionally + event  drop

About E3 and E4, noted, will try a bit before jump to EASY conclusion, but I need to farm Takanami/Unryuu/Sakawa~

I shall label Taigei as super optional then.

I got 2X yahagi within 8 runs from previous event, what are you saying again for Noshiro?

but I admit Sakawa is much rarer than the rest of the sisters due to Unbuildable and only Map 6

What I imply is, not only type of ships availability that determine the rarity... the other factors like "can get XXX ship within how many runs", thats achievement for me~ Because less runs > save resources and lucky~

E2 event EASY also quite disgusting...

I already using 3 high level mutsuki-class DDs, the Artillery IMP + Hime is very good in chuuha and taiha my ships in random, thus not enough damage for Yasen...

Going thru F/B node still being taiha from time to time...

Just FYI that, Night recon CONTACT is very important to deal Critical Damage, my italia alone dealt 350++ damage to the hime thus one-shotted her at first strike. (top right corner indicator as Contact)

That CONTACT alone, instant saved me from such damaged fleet during the day(yes 4 chuuha and 2 taiha), 1 red-hp PT imp + almost full hp Artillery Imp, and 75% hp boss remains when day battle ended.
