QUOTE(azim61 @ Dec 30 2013, 05:40 PM) if there are many users and you like to download and torrent buy a decent router such as vigor 2130n so that other users don't feel 'slow' QUOTE(azrash @ Dec 30 2013, 05:06 PM) yeap it is good. but it depends on how many users in your house? and are all of them torrenting as well or stream HD content only? was on vip5, upgraded to vip10 during the promo because a few users in the house torrent quite frequently, so double the speed do help since the content would be downloaded faster. thanks for both of u..just for single user...already contact the agent and summit the document..he said contractor will pasang on this coming saturday coz me free only on weekend. also got rebate rm100 from the agent..is it gud offer? tq

Hi guys..
today TM contractor installed my unifi at home( vip5)..everything going smooth..but after using for 3 or 4 hours suddenly my internet connection lost..i check the BTU modem no power at all..seem like suddenly the modem gotinternal short or burned ..
so i call the contractor again to come and check the problem..after checking they said the modem got short or burned inside coz no power at all after they testing it..
so they advise me to call for TM to get a replacement unit..lucky me the contractor give me free old modem ( the white color) for a temporary replacement until i get the new btu modem from TM...
the issue here me feel a little bit disappointed bout the product quality from TM..so want to ask :
1) does anyone got the same experience like me? , using for few hours then the modem kong already.. 2) the maximum speed i get is 4.7~4.8mbps download speed..the contractor said it normal coz there are many unifi user at my place..they also said, in some place where a less user using unifi, vip5 can get until 6mbps download speed..did they tell the truth? now me phobia a bit that wifi RG and top box will rosak next..coz only using for few hours already got the problem..hope no major prob will happen next..
thanks for all advices and opinion...

QUOTE(BlueWind @ Jan 4 2014, 09:46 PM) I'm one of the early adopters of Unifi and been using it for about 3-4 years now. I had problems with connection issue after using it for 6 months I reckon and had my Huawei modem changed once. The Huawei modem is pretty solid one IMO. Only thing is the crappy stock router and I'm not sure what other routers they provide to customers now. I changed my router to Asus N13U-B1 and so far things have been running stable and I have been getting consistent speeds throughout the years. As for the STB unit, I rarely use them but still working fine though. As long as I get above 90%, I'm a happy customer. I do understand the complications of this networking stuff, so that's good enough for me. tq..how much u bought Asus N13U-B1 ? just give me the price guide if i want to buy it..for speed me also satsified so far..for healthy torrent file max download speed average is 550~570 kbps...fyi currently TM using Alcatel brand for their BTU modem This post has been edited by faridsuarez: Jan 4 2014, 11:05 PM

QUOTE(sailou @ Jan 17 2014, 12:18 AM) Guys, need some advise. How does torrent works for you in general? I mean with Unifi. I'm looking into the Unifi20 because of the free Megapack. Occassional torrent of Bluray. doing great for me..i'm vip 5 user..healthy torrent file with single download average 550~570 kbps download speed..i'm sure vip 20 can get 2~2.3mbps torrent download for healthy single file download..

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Feb 19 2014, 09:57 AM) nope the ori modem have crappy quality to handle high traffic. Best set ur torrent dont blast at full speed. Or chose certain more traffic friendly torrent software. Certain torrent software will hang the line ==" BTw guy any idea how long for unifi to bring in the service in new taman that surrounded by old taman that already have unifi? Or there will wait that new taman have xx% of population only come? sorry ..noob question here..the ori modem u guys discussing refer to Broadband Termination Unit (BTU) or Wifi Residential Gateaway (RG) ? me suscribe unifi vip5 on 28.01.2014...really satisfied with the speed and service ( mybe coz me very2 new so no prob happened)..
on 14.02.2014 got call from TM if me want to upgrade to vip+hyptv for Rm199 or upgrade to vip10 only for RM179...strait away me agree to upgrade to vip10 for Rm179..heheheh..
so tips for potential new customer who want to suscribe vip10 only without hpytv ..better suscribe vip5 only...then within 2 or 3 weeks later TM will call u with their promotion VIP10 for Rm179 for a whole ur subcription..instead of paying for RM199..
am i correct with the tips? tq

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 17 2014, 12:50 PM) Absolutely. I'm using ASUS RT-AC68U at home & fully satisfied. No need to modify anything & no need to flash custom firmware. WiFi coverage is also very strong when compared to my previous routers such as ASUS RT-N16, TP-Link TL-WR1043ND & TP-Link TL-WDR4300. My RT-N16 & RT-AC68U never crashes unlike any TP-Link routers I've tried. RT-N16 & RT-AC68U comes with 2 USB ports which I fully utilize. The first USB port is connected to a Brother MFC-J625DW printer. This turns the printer into a network printer. The 2nd USB port is connected to a 500GB external HDD. This will let me use the router as torrent downloader & save it directly into the connected external HDD. With the Download Manager function in the router, I no longer have to use PC/laptop to download torrents. Hi there... 1) can give me the roughly price for both router for guideline.. 2) can teach me by pm or here how to use this router as torrent donwloader? really appreciate for ue help..tq

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 24 2014, 12:41 AM) 1. RT-N16 is no longer available in the market as ASUS has stopped producing them. You can look for the prices lelong.com.my or lazada.com.my as price references. Things to note: good stuff doesn't come cheap. 2. The downloader is pre-installed in most of ASUS routers. ASUS Routers with built-in ftp/http/torrent downloader:External Antennas: RT-N14UHPRT-N66URT-AC66URT-AC68UInternal Antennas: RT-N14URT-N15URT-N56URT-N65URT-AC56UThanks for the answer..all router u listed above compatible with unifi? tq

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Mar 1 2014, 11:19 AM) Cheapest way I think is to use a wifi repeater outside her front door. Maybe lose connection for heavy rain. Otherwise there are wifi amplifiers can reach up to 1 km (but must be straight line-of-sight) those are more expensive. Not sure whether T&C of unifi allow, but I think cannot detect also la. thanks..currently inside her house also got signal.but not stable..can recomend me any wifi repeater for low budget? also this wifi repeater easy to set up or not? i'm not an IT guy..huhuhu..tq
