QUOTE(alpha33 @ Jan 1 2014, 09:12 PM) dude...i have just signed up via tmshop for vip10. magically, next day got private number call me, offer rm198 for 20mbps line WITHOUT hypptv. once i agreed, they told me its a cooperation between tm and maxis. now this creeped me liao. so i turn them off. I do guess that there are undercovers in tmshop, hijacking customers!can i complain>? TM UniFi (home users) all come with HyppTV, there is no such thing as without HyppTV unless you sign up for BIZ packages. So if anyone call you to offer without HyppTV, that is for Maxis Fiber. TMshop I believe is also a reseller, not TM themselves, and this reseller could also be a reseller for Maxis.

QUOTE(alpha33 @ Jan 1 2014, 09:36 PM) eh? big big shop 1 wor.. is there a shop called "TM point"?I registered there.. those are resellers?tomoro i gonna go complain. TMpoint is directly by TM, not reseller. Anything else is reseller. So in your case its really TM... I suspect it could be the staff there earning side income by leaking out customer's info? Better you call to TM customer service & report it.

QUOTE(crazyito @ Jan 3 2014, 07:14 PM) Yep yep, exactly the same! Just that the plan different cos I signed up for VIP5. Called TM today and confirmed no such plan. VIP10 without HyppTV is RM178 or 179, can't really remember. All TM UniFi VIP plans come with HyppTV. What you said without HyppTV is actually without the HyppTV platinum pack or mega pack. So you will still get the free channels available to all UniFi VIP subscribers.

QUOTE(ballistix89 @ Feb 20 2014, 10:52 PM) Hey guys, I'm having issues with wireless internet connection. There are no problems with wired connection..but there always seems to be ping spike or connection loss when I'm using wireless. Is there anyway to fix this problem? Below are my ping results from PC to router:- » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Which router (brand & model) are you using? How far is your PC/laptop from the router? Are you staying in a condo/apartment (means there are many wireless access points around you)? I have this problem very often, especially during night time which I suspect due to interference from other wireless access points as well as other devices transmitting at 2.4GHz. Until today I could not really find a solution to this other than connecting a 2nd wireless router (but act as a switch with wireless AP) from a LAN port of the main wireless router to a LAN port of the 2nd router and set it up as a 2nd access point and place it a distance away from the main router but closer to the affected PC/laptop. QUOTE(ballistix89 @ Feb 21 2014, 05:32 PM) I'm using the D-Link 615 router. Staying in landed house..not many wireless ap here. I'm also using inSSIDer to make sure the wireless channel used is different from others. The problem just started to occur recently, which makes me think the router is becoming faulty. Is it possible to call TM and ask for an exchange for the router? If it is under the 1 year warranty you can, but I believe your problem is intermittent. But rather than replacing with another TM D-Link 615 router, best if you can 3rd party replacement. You can consider TP-Link TL-WR841ND, cost less than RM100. But if the problem is not with the router, you might still get the problem if it is due to interference. You may not have many interfering APs as detected on inSSIDer but you may be getting interference from many other devices transmitting on 2.4GHz, e.g. baby monitors, certain models of cordless phones, & microwave ovens.

QUOTE(ballistix89 @ Feb 21 2014, 07:33 PM) If I buy a third party router, can I configure it myself or need to call TM technician to come home? Is our Unifi account tied to the router? QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 21 2014, 08:29 PM) You can set it up yourself. Nope. In fact, it's not you can set up yourself, but you have to set up yourself. TM technician will not provide support for 3rd party equipments. Btw, You need to know your TM UniFi PPPoE username & password. Either it is provided to you during installation on a printout, or otherwise, you need to call TM UniFi customer service & request for it.

QUOTE(echoesian @ Feb 22 2014, 11:03 PM) For a double storey house, is it better to install the BTU on the ground floor for HyppTV and then use Homeplug for internet access upstairs or the other way round for maximum internet speed? BTU & router upstairs. Then use HomePlug to connect to IPTV STB downstairs.

QUOTE(echoesian @ Feb 22 2014, 11:54 PM) I'm worry if the Homeplug could not offer decent speed to stream 1080p movies... It should not be a problem unless you have very poor quality power lines at home. The HyppTV IPTV streams only require 8Mbps but the HomePlug is much more than that. Also one more thing, if you are on 3-phase power supply at home, make sure both HomePlugs are plugged onto power points of the same phase for maximum performance. It should still work on different phases but performance will not be good.

QUOTE(ballistix89 @ Feb 26 2014, 07:55 PM) Hi jolmy, I've already replaced my old D-Link router with TP-Link TL-WR841ND. The intermittent ping issue is already solved, but now I'm facing a new problem. After browsing the internet for a while, the wireless signal is suddenly lost and I had to reboot the router in order to gain access again. But I can only browse for a while before the signal is suddenly lost again and I had to reboot it again and again. Is my router faulty or there is some additional settings that needs to be done? QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 26 2014, 08:16 PM) Had the same issue with my previous TP-Link TL-WDR4300. Tried everything such as changing WiFi channel, switching off the 5GHz WiFi, assigning fixed IP, enabling MAC filter, tried WEP/WPA/WPA2 & even tried using OpenWrt firmware, the router still couldn't be saved. Got fedup after 3 ~ 4 month so I sold the WDR4300 then upgraded to ASUS RT-AC68U, no more problem. Lesson: You get what you pay for. Try to use only Channels 1, 6 or 11 and see which works best. Don't ever use any of the other channels as they overlap and create more problems for you. I have made the same mistake and once I change to use either one of these 3 channels, the wireless signal improves a lot in terms of stability & less inteference.

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 27 2014, 12:55 PM) Nahh, that doesn't work. When I was using the WDR4300, I tried all the channel available, still the router would lost signal then hang & had to reboot to make it work again. Not going to buy TP-Link devices again. I have both the 4300 & 841ND. I do agree the 4300 wireless signals are problematic to begin with. But as for the 841ND I don't have any problems with it provided only Channels 1, 6 or 11 are selected. For the record, the 4300 router is the first hardware version while 841ND is currently v8. Perhaps future 4300 versions will be improved. I am now using the 4300 as the router & set up wireless 5GHz only. I connect an 841ND (LAN to LAN - hence same subnet) to the 4300 & this one acts as a switch & access point (DHCP & uPnP disabled)

I suspect a lot of UniFi users who are suffering from slow & unstable speeds could be facing serious WiFi problems. This is especially true if you are in an area crowded with many wireless APs, particularly in apartment/condominium buildings.
As a 10Mbps user myself, when connected via WiFi, my speed goes down to just 3Mbps, but when connected via Ethernet cable, I got more than 10Mbps! I have been experimenting with different WiFi channels but to no improvement as there are only 3 non-overlapping channels (1, 6, 11) and many APs are configured on the other overlapping channels, hence causing severe interference. When other users are heavily using their WiFi, the bandwidth within same channels are shared! (Read more on how WiFi works to understand this!)
I am now giving up on WiFi (except for mobile devices such as smartphones). But having Ethernet cables running on my wall or floor is not ideal, hence I am now using Powerline Ethernet (HomePlug). Only thing is, the price of HomePlugs are still a little on the expensive side. But those of you who face serious problem with WiFi, you may want to consider this option. In my case, when connected via HomePlug on my laptop, I still get more than 10Mbps, similar as direct Ethernet connection.

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 8 2014, 08:11 AM) Hi All, I am having hard time connecting my TP Link WR841ND to my ONU -Huawei modem. Just to check: 1) Did you connect from LAN1 on the ONU to the WAN/Internet port of 841ND? 2) Did you select UNIFI MODE in the WAN connection settings?

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 8 2014, 11:20 AM) Try this: in the WAN settings, after you entered username & password (Username: <your_unifi_username>@unfi and Password: ******) (I hope you entered the correct one) and saved it, click the "Advanced" button, then on the PPPoE Advanced Settings page, enter 30 for Detect Online Interval, then save it... see if it works.

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 8 2014, 12:45 PM) tried this dont know what is wrong....thinking of changing to new router now... May I know, what is it actually that you cannot connect? Any error message shown? How about IPTV service? Does it work? Also take note Port 1 is for IPTV, so you must not connect any PC or laptop to that port on the router.

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 8 2014, 10:59 PM) Please view attach screenshot .This is how i setup unifi. http://i.imgur.com/shqM3Ix.jpgMay I know the 2 grey cables, what are they connected to? Does the grey cable with yellow head connects to IPTV? If all else fails, there are likely 2 possibilities left: 1) There is some configuration error, possibly wrong username/password? 2) You have a faulty device, get replacement under warranty perhaps.

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 9 2014, 08:37 AM) Grey head with yellow cable is connected to IPTV and other grey cable is direct connect to desktop pc. Dont think so there is issue with wrong username and password since i am able to connect using RG Innatech Router. Looks like it's possibly faulty unit.

QUOTE(christina1 @ Mar 9 2014, 09:13 PM) problem is i cant login to the router setting on my TP link....how do i login and based on the screenshot is my cables plug in correctly? If you cannot log in, means you have not configured it, hence your UniFi does NOT work! Use your web browser and try go to either http://192.168.0.1 OR http://192.168.1.1, one of them should work! The username & password should be "admin" without the quotes. One thing I am curious is, is this 841ND you have a brand new you bought recently? Or an old model that has been around for years? Because these routers have various Hardware version, the one that confirm working with UniFi is the Hardware V7.x & V8.x. Can you also look at the bottom of the router, there is a label with the version & serial number? If not sure, share us here a picture of it.
