For the Note series, the main differentiator is the S-Pen using a Wacom active digitizer, and Samsung's nicely packaged software to take advantage of it across the OS. I personally like the workflow enhancement you get when your device can actually replace the paper notebook, so I am very keen for active digitizer devices, of which currently only the Note series has it in the smartphone/phablet form factor. Larger devices with active digitizers (Wacom or N-Trig) tend to be very expensive (RM5k++) tablets/convertibles from notebook manufacturers.
First off, I want to put things in perspective. I must state that we can no longer think of our devices as "phones" but COMPUTERS. Therefore, since computers have been around for the last 60 years or so, there is nothing "new" or "innovative" to expect from our devices, except for "faster, better, cheaper". Maybe not cheaper but we have seen ASP (Average Selling Price) falling across the board.
And because it is a computer, you have to treat it as such, ie regular backups, some periodic cleansing/factory reset and practice safe computing habits.
Note that of course it is not to be compared with the CISC type computers of the Intel x86 desktop/notebook genre, but it is still a computer nonetheless of the RISC variety, specifically the ARM family, with a huge number of variations across manufacturers. The focus of ARM is for performance per watt, which allows low power computing on the go which has been the dream of computing since its dawn.
Anything else, feel free to contribute.
Information will be added as it becomes available.

13MP Rear-Facing Camera: Gracing the rear of the GALAXY Note 3 is a 13 megapixel wide-angle camera with Samsung Smart Stabilization, their take on Optical Image Stabilization. OIS uses hardware corrections to negate camera shake and provide sharp images.
Ultra HD (4K) Video Recording: 2013 is the year of the Ultra HDTVs and with them come a host of video recording capable cameras and smartphones to provide content. This means that video can be recorded on the GALAXY Note 3 and played back on an Ultra HDTV at 2160p. To put this in to perspective Ultra HD has a resolution of 3840 × 2160 (8.3 megapixels) which is 4 times the pixels of Full HD at 1920 × 1080 (2.1 megapixels).
2MP Front-Facing Camera: A discreet front-facing 2 megapixel camera will provide 1080p video during video chat. The greater the resolution, the better the video chat or call experience for your partner. But don't forget the dual-view option that allows you to also capture video using the rear-facing camera.
Full HD Display The GALAXY Note 3 has a new 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. The screen is bigger and brighter than that of the GALAXY Note 2 with a pixel density of 386 PPI. This means that you will not only have a crisper image but you won't have to squint at the screen under direct sunlight. The display is graced with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and should provide greater protection for the WACOM-enabled digitizer.
Hi-Fi Audio The GALAXY Note 3 now supports 24-bit/192kHz Hi-Fi audio. In basic terms, you are now getting playback at studio quality levels. Before any argues a lack of subtle or no difference between current offerings of 16-bit/44.1kHz, your ears may not distinguish between them but your eyes do. Crazy I know! But the human body is just one of those miracles of design we may never fully understand.
Adaptive Display and Sound Adaptive Display is a very simple. It changes the brightness or contrast of the screen depending on what you are viewing and the lighting conditions of your environment. This same technology will also adjust audio properties such as equalizer profiles based on the content you are experiencing. If you watch a YouTube video while cooking, the screen automatically switches to cinema and lowers the brightness while also switching from the default equalizer profile to one more suitable for movie playback.
Removable Battery and MicroSD Card Samsung stays the course despite the current trend by most tech companies to switch to a unibody design. This keeps the battery captive and forces you to send your smartphone in for a costly battery replacement. It also limits your smartphone memory to whatever it shipped with. The GALAXY Note 3 has a removable 3200 mAh battery and allows for a swappable MicroSD card up to 64GB. I for one always have a backup battery and alternate MicroSD to match either a work or play profile.
802.11ac WiFi This WiFi standard is essentially an updated version of 802.11n or Wireless-N. 802.11ac currently has speeds of 1.7 GHz, limited by current hardware, but can reach a real-world maximum of 2.5 GHz. This means that the GALAXY Note 3 can work and play faster than most devices on the market provided you have a matching Wireless-AC router.
New Multitasking Options The GALAXY Note 3 now lets users do more with an enhanced Multi Window option. Owners can now launch the same app twice. Multi-Window also allows users drag and drop content, so it's easy to share from one window to another through quick command icons.
S Pen 3.0 The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by enabling everyday tasks with just one tap and click. The advanced stylus is designed as a communication driver between the owner and their GALAXY Note 3. By creating essential input and control features, the S Pen plays an integral role in how one interacts with the GALAXY Note.
Air Command This quick access S Pen action lets owners quickly open up; Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window. You can access this from anywhere on the GALAXY Note 3 screen by simply hovering the S Pen over the screen and pressing the button on the stylus.
S Finder This option allows a GALAXY Note 3 owner to search for memos, contacts, and notes. S Finder even recognizes handwriting and symbols. The GALAXY Note 3 can even sync with and search through Evernote.
Pen Window This option allows a GALAXY Note 3 owner to draw a square anywhere on the app being viewed in order to pull up and fill the drawing with a number of commonly used apps, such as Calculator.
Anti-Theft Features Locate My Mobile displays the current location of the lost mobile on a map and tracks movement history during the last 12 hours. Lock My Mobile can remotely lock your mobile so that no one else can use the device. And finally, Ring My Mobile rings a bell for 1 minute at the highest volume regardless of the current sound settings.
WatchOn Smart Remote For those of you who had a chance to program and use WatchOn, you know that the GALAXY S4 effectively becomes a smart remote control rivaling the pricey remotes sold by TV accessory manufacturers. Now this feature is unleashed on the GALAXY Note 3 with its greatly improved screen promising to make the GALAXY Note 3 a powerful Smart Remote.
Air Gestures This feature allows owners to control the GALAXY Note 3 by using gestures done over the upper part of the smartphone without ever making contact with the screen. Quick Glance lets you view basic notifications while the screen is off. Air Jump lets you scroll up or down in emails and webpages. Air Browse lets you browse images, webpages, songs, or memos. Air Call-Accept lets you accept calls by swiping over the sensor.
Samsung KNOX For those of us who are security-minded and want to ensure that a stolen smartphone doesn't become a liability, it is welcome news that Samsung has brought a global-ready version of KNOX to the GALAXY Note 3. SamsungKNOX essentially separates your smartphone in to two parts; personal and business. Neither side can interact with the other. Samsung KNOX provides Platform Security, Application Security, Mobile Device Management and Samsung KNOX for Enterprise.
Smart Pause While some may call this feature gimmicky, those who have used Smart Pause on the GALAXY S4 know that this a great feature. Just like Samsung's smartphone flagship, the GALAXY Note 3 can pause video playback when you look away from the screen. Samsung has worked closely with content providers to ensure that features that were once limited to in-house apps can now control 3rd party apps.
S Voice With Hands Free S Voice has been upgraded and a feature called S Drive has been added. S Drive is useful for those who must have constant access to their smartphone, even while driving. This feature does exist on the GALAXY Note 2 as Driving Mode which causes S Voice to read your texts, report who is calling, allows you to control your music player or open common applications by voice command. This option enables safer driving and, in some states, may save you from being ticketed by the police.
GALAXY Gear Although the GALAXY Gear is not a feature, I believe it will quickly become a must-have accessory. This is basically a tethered Smart Watch that uses S Relay to seamlessly transfer content and alerts from the GALAXY Note 3 to the GALAXY Gear and vice-versa. Beyond sharing content, the GALAXY Gear also controls the GALAXY Note 3 allowing you to send messages, make phone calls, request directions and a slew of other actions. It is also speculated that the Note 3 uses the S800 M8974AB version, which is the highest binned version of the CPU with even higher GPU speeds. Updated as we know more.

NOTE: the Qualcomm S800 version will show 2.4GB Free RAM, while the Exynos version will show 2.7GB free. This seems to be due to the GPU architecture, where Qualcomm requires more reserved RAM.
The Samsung 3GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM uses six of the industry's smallest 20-nanometer (nm) class* four gigabit (Gb) LPDDR3 chips, in a symmetrical structure of two sets of three chips stacked in a single package only 0.8 millimeters high. With a full line-up of package dimensions, Samsung's new ultra-slim memory solutions will enable thinner smartphone designs and allow for additional battery space, while offering a data transfer speed of up to 2,133 megabits per second (Mbps) per pin.

Why USB 3.0 - All phones to date have the USB 2.0 interface. This is rated at a max of 480Mbps. USB 3.0 is rated for 4.8Gbps, a 10 fold increase in theoretical maximum transmission speed. Your Gb's of will transfer much faster via USB 3.0 to your external storage device or PC. Of course you need a USB 3.0 port or compliant peripheral as well.
Before the RDF kicks in, I'm given to understand that the Lightning connectors on idevices are still USB 2.0. > link <
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 sports USB 3.0 connector for faster transfers and charging - Xeactorz .....Oh, and if you’re worried about losing that micro B USB 3.0 cable and having no way to charge or manage files on your device, don’t be. Similar to those backward-compatible USB 3.0 flash drives, the Note 3 will allow you to connect a standard microUSB cable as well, so Samsung has every base covered.

Galaxy Note 3 Will Debut New Radio Power Management System, Uses 20% Less Power And 30% Less Heat Than Existing Tech ......Qualcomm achieves these enhancements in the QFE1100 by using a technology called Envelope Tracking. Essentially, the hardware tracks changes in the radio frequency and adjusts the power amplifier accordingly. Unlike traditional methods which perpetually run at full power, or those that only adjust the level when the radio is barely active, this technology can limit power usage only to what is necessary at the moment of transmission. This not only reduces the amount of energy consumed for communication, but also significantly reduces leftover power that is needlessly converted into excess heat. Qualcomm claims this can reduce radio power consumption by up to 20% and heat production by up to 30%, all while improving the speed and reliability of the cellular signal.
Knox - Enterprise Security !!!

This is an interesting high-level overview of Samsung's security, including Knox. I find the "authorized OSs" part interesting. Notice the s on the end of OSs. The Knox marketing manual states that it is possible to change the device keys securely, but makes no reference to how it is done. Any ideas?

Hi guys,
I just came back from the hands-on session of the Note 3. Here are the answers to the questions that some of you guys wanted me to ask Samsung.
(Q)Does the Note 3 use Gorilla Glass for its display? If yes, which generation?|
(A)Gorilla Glass 3
(Q)Are there any advancements in the S Pen technology used in the Note 3? Is it still using Wacom tech like the Note 2?
(A)The new S Pen reinvents and modernizes the classic note-taking experience by providing the ability to accomplish everyday tasks with just one click. The advanced S Pen is designed to fully function as a communication driver between the phone and the user by creating essential input and control features. A simple click of the S Pen button while hovering over the screen introduces users to Air Command, a palette of five powerful features that truly make daily tasks easier and faster. With the Air Command feature, there is no need to toggle between screens, memorize commands or look up different menus.
For these enhancements, the GALAXY Note 3 uses the Wacom technology and is capable of 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity for a better user experience. The S Pen also features a changeable pen tip that is softer, which makes for a better handwriting experience. The S Pen on the GALAXY Note 3 can be detected from up to 1.7mm from the screen, an improvement from the GALAXY Note II.
(Q)Is the Note 3 using a PenTile RGBG matrix?
(A)The GALAXY Note 3 uses the Pentile RGBG matrix.
(Q) How did Samsung manage to make the Note 3 lighter than the Note 2 despite the slight increase in display size and physical size?
(A)The 5.7-inch screen Full HD Super AMOLED screen of the GALAXY Note 3 is larger than the previous GALAXY Note 2 device but because of the thin bezel, the overall size of the device stayed almost the same. The new Gorilla Glass on the GALAXY Note 3 helps to reduce its overall thickness and weight. In addition, we also optimised the mechanical design and HW circuit placement which contributes to the slimmer and lighter design of the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q)Will there wireless charging kits available for the Note 3?
(A)There will be a Wireless Charger Cover for the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q) Can the Note 3 play 1080p 10bit video with flac?
(A) 10bit video playback is not supported on the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q)Does Samsung Mobile Singapore have the 7 days exchange policy for the Note 3 (1 to 1 brand new within 7 days at same place of purchase)?
(A)This exchange policy is not available for the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q) Is the USB cable bundled 3.0?
(A) The USB is bundled 3.0.
(Q) Is there bundled S-Window case? Will it be available at launch?
(A) We have the at launch the S View cover for the GALAXY Note 3.
(Q) Though its stated to support microSD up to 64GB, is there a chance it can support 128GB memory cards?
(A) It can only support up to 64GB.
(Q) Is the LED notification light on the Note 3 multi-color like the S4 and Note 2?
(A)Yes, the LED notification light comes in different colours on the GALAXY Note 3. __________________ Thanks and regards, Sidney

TechRadar - Hands on: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 review - 2013-09-05 - mudkipryan94 A short review, but I would like to highlight one of the comments. I am not being a Samsung fanboi but surely a review should be as objective as possible, and personal bias should be stated up front.
QUOTE
nellymosserFri 11:38 This is a fairly ridiculous review - and in fairness, not very helpful. The article seems peppered with your own personal tastes. We're not reading this to see if it suits you, we're reading it to see if it suits us. It is for us to decide on the leather look. And your comment, "Most people will never use multi-window, as nine times out of 10 you'll find you're using it for the sake of it." Actually, is for us to decide if we like the multi-window option or not to - Pinterest/Facebook/Twitter users, people who actually do like to look at links on the web but not lose their threads - already find it useful in Notes 1 & 2.
Instead of your own personal tastes, how about telling us what we need to know? What about battery life? That battery sounds massive. Is it? How about telling us about sound quality? Connectivity? Any changes to the home page? How it feels to hold? Can you drop it? Does it have gorrilla glass? What is the point/function of the octo core - how good is the super HD filming?
Different people want different things from a smartphone - that's why there are so many. How about you try to think about your spectrum of readers - your customers - when you write. At least that something that Samsung is trying to do here.
.....These smartphones are all top of the range devices, and the bar has been set extremely high. There are very few perceivable differences between the four of them and personal preference might be the biggest factor that makes you prefer one over the other. What we do know is that with such great options from a wide variety of manufacturers, the competition will compel OEMs to make even better devices which is a win for you, the consumer.
It’s a battle royale, and these are the most latest and most advanced smartphones in the world.
...The S-Pen is what actually makes the Note lineup so special, and Samsung has surely provided the Note 3 with even more S-Pen compatible apps, handwriting-recognition features and drawing tools.
There is also one more thing different about the new Note - it arguably looks better than ever (if though not everybody here at the office agrees). Samsung has its entire back to look like leather and the Note 3 looks just amazing....
.....As phones get bigger and tablets get more ubiquitous, it's good to see a device do something different that actually justifies the increased size. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3's multitasking features are particularly well-thought-out -- but whether you think it looks good in leather is up to you.
.....and it was clear that the phablet – now a word in the Oxford dictionary – was here to stay, and that Samsung was the unchallenged king of the phablet market.
a smartphone having a screen which is intermediate in size between that of a typical smartphone and a tablet computer:a 3.5 inch screen is inadequate in a market that is trending towards phablets
Origin: early 21st century: blend of phone1 and tablet

Short Reviews by Note 3 Thread Members
Note from a thread member, but useful to see the power of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB RAM:
Galaxy Note 3 Tips & Tricks Ep. 4: How Fast Is The Galaxy Note 3? It Is A Multitasking Powerhouse Running 12 Apps at the same time !!!
The consensus among thread members (they have the Xperia Z Ultra as well either currently or previously) is that the Note 3 screen is better than the Xperia Z Ultra's screen.
Many phone also can last you years bro. It depends on what you need. This phone is 3GB ram S800 Proc FHD Removable Battery. I think is the best spec you can buy with money now. I believe this phone should last you 2 to 3 years easily.

The S800 proc really turbo charge Note3. Strange i don't experience any heat issue as well. Damn i am a happy camper.

I used the note 2 for almost a year, the first time you get the note 3 and turn it on you'd go WOW. The screen is just that much sharper, especially on such a huge screen. It's so much snappier, although you won't notice it in whatsapp and fb for some reason Camera is much improved, especially at night, the thing actually focuses properly, as compared to the note 2 which just keeps searching for AF lock. Battery however.. after 2 days, I find that the note 3 is more power hungry than the note 2 This could be cause I had a custom rom on the note 2 though, I was getting 6/7 hours of screen on time every day, with 18 hours of it being on. With the note 3 I'm only getting 4/5 hours HOWEVER, this is still my third day with the phone, and maybe it's cause I use the camera a lot throughout the day, and now I tend to watch youtube videos cause of the LTE. So there you have it, a simple comparison

Yes, I'm not a S-Pen frequent user previously but this Note 3's S-Pen really amazes me with its performance.
I cannot deny that the Air Command makes things so automated and easy now.

Those who have queried earlier this Note3 is a fantastic piece of gadget. I had never love the SPen as much as it now. Camera is great n snappy. Performance I can say is the best I have used n even better than my other XZU. I have posted benchmarks vs XZU yesterday. Those who think XZU is too big this phone just right size for comfort pocketability. Third day using it n yet to find a single problem or bug. Battery life as of now easily match Note2 n appears slightly better. Can only give better assessment after few more days full charge n usage However using app galaxy charging current I only recorded 1200mAh input on original cable, htc, Sony, blackberry cable.( using ipad 2.1A charger). Yet to use the original charger. Similar figure using my blackberry Playbook car charger (2A). On Note2 n S4 I recorded 1800mAh.

A human being can only read 'so much' of text at any given time.
Same reason why I don't find it a problem when I'm reading on either my phones. When comparing my current Note III, iPhone 5 and XZU in terms of reading experience, they are pretty much the same.
Just that more scrolling is required on iPhone 5, and picture viewing on web pages are just a bit nicer on XZU. Other than this, the Note III excels as a good in-betweener for what we can call 'the PERFECT screen size' in the phone world now.

After using this Note3 more than a day, I have decided to use it as my main phone n relegate the XZU as secondary phone/mini tablet. Initially I was concerned about its smaller display size but this worry ended up unfounded. The Note3 is a very snappy phone n I find myself using the SPen often vs Note2. The SPen is a vast improvement over Note2. I am using Holo launcher n Spen still work magnificently with it Yet to find a single bug with the phone

When plug in Note 2 or Note 3 cable into my Note 3, I can't detect from Kies 3 or even from Windows (but I can see from phone is charging when connected to my laptop). However, I'm using same laptop to connect to my Note 2 without any issue. Any setting I need to be done from my Note 3?

There is no settings. It is simply plug n play once you have the phone drivers installed. Try another usb port or with another micro usb cable. If still cannot send in service center to check the usb port. Mine can easily detect on my desktop XP, netbook win7 n Vaio Win8 ( this I did not even install kies or any Samsung phone drivers)

News about Samsung and region-locking their phones
Sammobile - The Update text: [b]UPDATE:[/b] While Samsung’s wordings aren’t very clear, it seems that the Galaxy Note 3 will actually be usable everywhere, but not before it is activated with a SIM from the region it was bought in. Once you activate it/use it with a local SIM, you’ll be able to visit other regions/travel abroad and use it with SIM cards from that particular region without issues. This is likely to reduce grey imports by retailers and those who want to make a quick buck by importing the device and selling it at higher prices, as the retailer would have to open the box to activate it before selling it, which would make it less attractive to a buyer. However, until Samsung makes an even clearer statement, you probably should refrain from importing even a Note 3 that has been activated in its home region.
CODE
AndroidCentral's article excerpt: [b]Region-locked, except for when it's not[/b] [i]The region-lock only kicks in if you first "activate" it with a SIM from outside the list of approved countries.[/i]
As it happens, the crucial factor is which SIM card you first use when you set up the phone. Lars from AllAboutSamsung.de was given information to this effect when he got in touch with Samsung Germany, and it's since been confirmed by Nirave Gondhia, who got his hands on additional Note 3s to test the theory. A second Note 3, first "activated" with a UK SIM, could then be used with a UAE SIM — the same one rejected by the first device.
(This also explains what happened with our own unlocked Note 3. It was never region-locked, as we used our EE (UK) SIM to run through the initial setup.)
So the region-lock only kicks in if you first "activate" it — i.e., switch on the phone and run through setup — with a SIM from outside the list of approved countries. It's probably a measure designed to ensnare grey (unauthorized) importers of Samsung phones. And it means you should be very careful about which SIM card you use to activate any "unlocked" Samsung phone from now on.
SUMMARY OF THE WHOLE REGION LOCKING AFFAIR
QUOTE
confuzan,Sep 28 2013, 11:49 PM
joytest perhaps you want to post this article up regarding region locking.
summary:- -note3 and other samsung flagships manufactured after july will have region locking in EU and US. -booting up for the first time in this phone must use EU/US sim cards. after the first activation, it will be sim unlocked. -booting up for the first time with a sim card from non EU/US operators will lock the phone. need to go to samsung service center to unlock.
what this means:- -samsung wants to prevent parallel import from EU/US to other regions -AP set from EU/US will most likely be activated already before it can be used in other regions.

My personal opinion is that naked phones are just accidents waiting to happen, and also that so-called "cases" that leave the top and bottom bezels exposed do not deserve the term "case". IMHO, a real case covers the entire bezel, the back and also a rim lip on the front face of the device. To each his/her own.

One piece of advice. PLEASE CHECK APP PERMISSIONS BEFORE INSTALLING. An app should not have permissions beyond what its stated functionality should be. For example, a Wallpaper app should have NO PERMISSIONS. A Launcher will naturally have access to permissions for Calling and SMS and Phone Hardware (vibrate settings etc).
If you install MyHotSexyGirlLiveWallpaper with access to Calls, Network Status and SMS, then ....
Semantics of Fear Applications claiming to be “antivirus” are merely detecting what has the potential to be malware, something that a developer of an application may have snuck into the software code that is meant to steal data or interact with the device in such a way as to cause it to send premium SMS messages at the victim’s expense. This is more correctly defined as being a Trojan or form of spyware, but given the years of conditioning by security firms “Virus” sounds a lot scarier.
Common Senseless Although these detection capabilities may be marginally useful to the end user, they do not by any stretch of the imagination fit the definition of an “antivirus” or replace common sense – that is to say, being cautious about which applications you download and then carefully reviewing the permissions for each application if you do install it.
Does that “Barney Wallpaper” app you download really need access to your contacts, call history and location?
That's certainly the case with our latest doom and gloom story -- a fright-inducing app signature vulnerability brought into the public eye by a new security company called Bluebox (which, like almost every company that releases scary-sounding info about Android threats, is a business built around the sales of Android security software -- go figure).
In the meantime, as is usually the case in these scenarios, there's absolutely no cause for alarm. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Whether you're surfing the Web on your PC or getting online from your phone, a little caution and some common sense will go a long way in keeping you safe from the big, bad virus monsters lurking around our virtual worlds.
You may share your findings of new toys in the thread. I will add worthwhile app links here. The apps below can usually be found on Google Play store. Some have separate versions on XDA or other places where the dev either provides a free version or free with ads version. These are listed with clickable links.

Automation IntelliCover - turns the screen off automatically when you put your device in your pockets, close its flip cover etc. - VoiVod Llama Profile Flow Secure Settings by INTANGIBLEOBJECT + its "Helper" within the app - antt00 Tasker
Communications (Chat/IM/VoIP) *Note: due to the nature of chat apps, some may be badly coded and cause heavy battery drain. Please let me know and I can update which ones drain or have fixed drain problems. Line Skype Skype (XDA Modded) Viber <=depending on version, may be battery drainer (2013-04-22) Wechat <=known battery drainer (2013-04-22) Whatsapp

Ah, now I see what you means. But I already sent mine, so... Oh well.
Today the thread will have an improved structure. Sections will be clearly defined. Any ideas are also welcome. It will follow a similar structure like the note2 thread.
this is because... ebook... hasnt really come to malaysia yet... thats why no demand on ebook sale... leads to higher ebook price...
how often you see malaysian reading ebook or newspaper on a tablet...
most malaysian read those tranditional news print... which leads to cheap price which leads to malaysians can afford to buy
I think many Malaysians read e-books. I read all my books on my tablet and I even just bought an e-reader from the US. And I also know many friends who read e-books.

There are a lot of software that do that. I always use GIMP for transparency.
By the way, I think the photo is quite big size. With my fast Internet speed, it still takes some time to load the photo.
Edit: 1.26MB. No wonder.
Errr...it removes the transparency when I re-save....have to ask andrewtst or perhaps if you can do it. I am not familiar with using graphic manipulation software.
He's right you know. I don't really care either. It's no longer just a phone, but a pocketable computer. Computers have pretty much matured. You could have a hardware fault. I will try with my Note 2 and Note 3 later. Never used this feature before.

I also need information to add to post 5 for Operations so that we can add all common issues there.
me too. afternoon post and now post was 400++ diff... how to finish read.
by the way, andrew, looks like note3 coloue all darker (more obviously is red / yellow flower.
When I view at my monitor and phone and tablet, I find it output is very awesome.
The photos has great white balance, vividness (no over saturation) and great contrast. I don't find it over dark, it is well contrast. The worst is Xperia ZL, the white balance is gone, color is dull, cannot capture properly when direct sunlight and less contrast which make the photo bright out.

Thanks for all the photo. It still does not show the capabilities of Note 3.

I am paranoid as well. Dont know why my item tend to get scratches no matter its gorilla or sapphire. My two watches which is only scratchable by diamond also have hairline scratches . My previous phone also have similar problem most probably by sand.
When I was in Hong Kong earlier this year, most of the mobile phone accessories shops were literally packed with Note II cases. And that goes without saying, many Note II phones were being used almost everywhere too. The situation for Note III would be quite similar as even many Note II users are even upgrading to it due to the MUCH more superior camera, higher resolution, and better interface.

Normally I see those that worry are those that really saved up all their hard-earned money to buy it, and plan to use it for long term. But for those that keep changing, there is not really much stress to keep it scratch-less. LOL. my 2c

Don't worry too much lah, just be careful. Phone is meant to be use mah. Sure got wear and tear.
During the Note days I challenge my friends to allow me to drag a blade n keys across the display. I guaranteed paying for their phone if any scratches. Of course they lost the bet to me n I got a free dinner.

really, who did that? but ya, because of the anti-shatter film, XZU front and back panel gets scratch easily.. but not the glass panel underneath of course.. my xzu already got a few distinct scratches on both front and back on the film, as i don't use sp at all.. i just wait for time when i think its ugly enough, i will just tear off the film..

call me kiasu or kiasi, but i am just like that. diagnosed with 7 types of personality disorder, with paranoid being one of the highest, so in my case i would say it's normal. and yes it is due to my screen protector's tardiness in arriving.

Also, scratches not happened to glass only. Without whole body protection, scratches happened to body as well.

Their iPhone price is ridiculous
There are so much samsung billboard and poster in HK. When taking mtr most people are with samsung phone with most seen are note2. I believe note3 will attract even more people to use it. Most underground tunnel are full with the ads.

Woah, never been there but my parents will go with me this year as they been there for over 5 times.

Yes, they are. Samsung's marketing is crazy over there - very high budget style and almost everywhere.

The XZU anti-shatter stock film is one of the WORST Sony's decision ever because the Sony logo in the front is embedded to it, so you can't simply remove it. Also, it's not covered under warranty if there's scratches. All in all, Sony trying to be smart by giving a 'free' SP, but then again, free also at least they should give a GOOD one that is more durable.

Got mine yesterday at Garden Maxis Center... No queue... Got my device in less than half an hour. New LTE sim card activated immediately. The LTE speed is fantastic... Faster than the wifi speed at the Starbucks.
The build is excellent. After a few hours playing with it, my S3 suddenly felt so out dated, slow and small.
Battery life is good. Standby time is excellent. Standby from midnight to next day morning around 9 am - drop from 100% to 98% only. Mainly consumption on the screen because bigger screen.

So note 3 screen is just 0.2" bigger than Note2.. When using it, does it feels like it have a bigger screen, or is it just feel same size as Note 2? Anyone still having both phone can comment?

The screen although bigger and the body is even narrower then note 2, there isn't much difference unless you compare it side by side... but that full hd screen sharpness and brightness... you can tell it apart from a meter away.

Just got my GN3 at Maxis Centre KLCC. They still have some black units but none for white. I also sign up their smartphone protection plan, which only charge you RM1 per day, and you can only opt for this option when you collect your new phone.
Basically what it does is something like an insurance, if your phone is snatched, with police report, they will give you replace a new one for you. They will also repair your phone for free should you screen is cracked or damaged due to water (and pick up at your choice of location). It also give 1 year of extra warranty. I feel it is very worthy so I just sign up and you can cancel at anytime you want.

Maxis prepaid does NOT support LTE. You must have a minimum 1GB postpaid plan for it

Yes with free shipment. My first time buying directly from them. Their website said:
--- Upon receipt and shipment of your order, a confirmation will be sent along with instructions on how you can track your order. If at any point you are unclear on your order status or have a special request, you may contact UAG customer service at customerservice@urbanarmorgear.com and we will respond as soon as possible.
All orders are processed and shipped from our distribution center in Southern California. If one or more of your items is out of stock, your order will not ship until all items are available. UAG is not responsible for shipping carrier delays or lost, stolen or misdirected shipments by the carrier.

Just some clarification on Harvey Norman Note 3 purchases. Yes, you can use credit card points as a rebate for the phone purchase. Mine was with Citibank. They will check your points for you on the spot. Also, while you pay full RM2399 for the phone, it comes free with a S-view cover (staff said its ori samsung but not in stock yet), a 8gb thumb drive and a screen protector (also not in stock yet). 0% cc instalment plan also available. Once the screen protector and s-view cover comes in, they will call you to go collect.

quite a few of us bought from UAG directly for the Note II previously, all no problem. I bought 1 black 1 white actually but eventually keep the white and sold the black coz really too macho for wife.
if using citybank cc get free powerbank, SP and in car charger
someone mention about buying at Harvey Norman using point plus top up money and get s view cover, mobile thumbdrive
other can add if they find for other place. good for people who want to do installment to compare which give good gift to them.
if not a good idea just can ignore.
This is a good idea but I cannot maintain via ad hoc requests. If there are more in favor, I can whip up some kind of submission form like the Owners' Form to input such details for all to see.
VoiVod Good list. Added to post 9.

I believe there is no FM receiver. Mentioned a couple of weeks back as well.
No problem, corrected. Post 3, Specs in Depth. Hi may I know how were the points rebated? For example, did they give you RM1 per 1000 points? I believe there is no FM receiver. Mentioned a couple of weeks back as well.
Hai bro, I'm the one using celcom. Subscribe the monthly Rm88 with 5GB and free call n SMS 2years contract with the phone price Rm1599 instead of maxis surfmore. But too bad yesterday I purchase already haven't received my phone yet because I port from digi to celcom. The waiting is killing me!
too many pages so i not gonna bother reading. in the end my dad was too tempted so he went ahead and got me cheap screen protector for rm5 just so that he can play with my note 3 lol. and the whole time i was just busy watching him and my sister having fun with the camera. now it's MAH turn babeh.

Hi Joytest
I believe its about RM1 per 200 points. So those with plenty of points to burn, can be a good choice to consider.
Hi guys, just thought to share some info on the handwriting bit. It seems like the panel to manage the handwriting settings is either gone or hidden. However, you can use the "Direct pen input" function to bring up the older type of handwriting input panel which allows for faster writing compared to the new handwriting panel in the S-note app.
Been using the "Direct pen input" and it's a dream to use
Just thought I share this bit and credit goes to a member in XDA-dev forum for pointing out the alternative

Fwah... everyone who has it so happy! Congrats to the new owners. Is there anything that I need to examine before I collect my new N3? So far any owner has any issue with their baby? Or any procedure to make sure everything is in good shape?
i backup contact via samsung note 2 and restore the contact to note 3. all picture in the contact become blur.. and smaller...
who knows what to do with this issue? any good tricks to gain back real contact in higher resolution?
No trick. The size shrink in size and become blurred because sync to gcontact server. Only way is to re assign one by one for the full resolution image.
Oh...misunderstanding then.... Product webpage is Photoshop's photo...real life photo is what we want to see...no harm to request, right? Everyone know how to Google now!

Anyone knows how to get Samsung freebies from purchase? (free dropbox, etc). BTW i've claimed the free DP 50gb from my s3, not sure if i am still available
That's not true. I think everyone listen to radio in their car. You're making sweeping comment that is untrue at all.
yes u r right, actually i do like the hv radio function for samsung phone.... if not mistaken last time they are the only 1 hv ? the rest of the phone just use apps so will eat ur wifi / data traffic...
I think the reason is, most EU countries are doing away with analog radio and going for digital DAB radio system. This could be one of the reason for them to do away completely with the FM..My 2 cents
that y unhappy note 3 without fm function...not everybody will listen radio via internet!
ya...i am 1 of the unhappy user also...so my solution was using my iclip bluetooth use radio now since it comes with.... or u may invest the sony model also...forget the model already..comes with led screen that allow u to see the info like radio and who call u..

Samsung Galaxy S4 was unveiled by the company on 14 March. While the phone boasts high-end specs like a 5-inch full-HD screen with 441 pixels per inch, a 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core processor in some regions and a 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor in others, and 2GB of RAM, it received criticism in some quarters for missing out on a rather basic feature: FM radio.
The omission of FM was indeed a strange one from Samsung. While Apple has never shipped an iPhone with built-in FM radio - despite receiving its share of criticism - Samsung's first three flagship devices, and indeed, most other phones, come with FM radio. In that sense, Samsung customers are used to enjoying the feature. There have been complaints since the omission was confirmed after Galaxy S4 was officially unveiled but Samsung was mum on the subject - until now.
Samsung's Facebook page in Russia has made the following announcement on the subject, which was picked up by GSM Arena via Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru.
Our studies show a trend shift of interest to digital broadcasting, specifically - focus on listening to music content in social networks or on the channel YouTube. The flagship model of our products are focused on customers who use digital content, which use modern formats and channels of information consumption. (translated from Russian).
While Samsung may be right in believing that flagship customers tend to be focused on digital content, the fact is, if you take something away from people after they become used to it (in other Galaxy flagships), they are far more likely to complain, than if they never enjoyed the feature in the first place.
Something tells us we haven't heard the last on the Samsung Galaxy S4 FM radio debate. What do you think us of Samsung's decision? Will your decision to buy the Galaxy S4 be impacted by it? Let us know via the comments.

asking, i tested the note 3 earphone and compare with my wife s3 and sony zl earphone.... seems like sony earpiece is better in treble sound but samsung good in bass ? don hv dr dre to test... note3 earphone sound about the same as s3... i expect note3 top notch in everything.

I think the top notch audio one is the Exynos version.
Anyway, I was testing out my car FM transmission mp3 player. I plugged the Line In from the Note 3 and Note 2 for comparison.
At max volume of 15, the Note 3 is noticeably louder than the Note 2. When I was using the Note 2, I had to turn up the head unit volume to 19 or 20 before it was nice. With the Note 3, head unit volume of 14 was enough.
finally my wife said my camera skill acceptable already.... ip5 or zl drop to my hand and ppl like andrew really makes a big diff... i am type like point and shoot without study much on what to focus and what main object i want to bring out... for note 3 at least she can see clearly the picture i show her..

No la. Promo price, no freebies but he has casing and SP already. My Liquid Armor is at hometown and won't be going back until next week... So, I bought the SP from him RM 15. Call me kiasu. But his workmanship is damn good.
In the end, paying less than RM 800 for Note 3, I'm a happy girl. *I have Stan Chart cash reward and company's subsidy which gives me RM 1405... That's why I paid less than RM 800.

Depending on which phone u saved your photo , it makes a difference . Eg u save your photo in Note2 , it will appear blur in Note3 due to the resolution differences . Those photos i saved on earlier models b4 HD screen phones came out , well , on any FHD phones , they look like ghost is calling me

If yes, that would be totally 360 protection..
Anyone experience it?
SGP is Glass-tR slim right or their Nano version ? If it's tR , i cant fit it in . If it's Nano , it fits quite nicely but the edges , well 1 or 2 side wouldnt be even unless u use back SGP case . Difference is Glass.tr Slim is 0.4mm while Nano is 0.15mm . If its tR Slim , there are other alternatives which are slightly cheaper for shipping charges , eg
Got to hand it to Andrewtst to prove us what awesome Note 3 can do.
Tomorrow I will post some with and without HDR.
Some Panorama Shoot
Also some effects shoot. The effects can get extra add-on by clicking the download button inside the Camera app, and it will bring you over to Samsung Apps Store, some free, some paid. So far I had download all the free extra effects.

Nope. I applied for Stan Chart during promo and I received RM 605 cash back which wasn't utilized yet. So, on the bill, it was full cost but when I pay my bill later will less out RM 605.

Note 3 is perfect in it's way. Big screen yet remain same size as Note 2 and thinner than it.
Power wise, I don't think it have problem. USB 3.0/UHD recording some more

I really needed an extra device because my schedule to China assignment is out. I will be there for two months from Nov onwards, so I will need one to move around in China.
Then thought of taking Nexus 7 but company's subsidy doesn't cover tabs, only phones... I bought Note 3, sekali punya sakit.
No regret so far, though I do feel it is a bit redundant to have two Notes. I could feel that my Note II will be underutilized. #confession #guilty

No la. The subsidy only RM 800 but I signed up new card registration for Stan Chart and got RM 605 (actually 680 but already used to offset both main and supp's GST) cash back.

anyways i can finally head to bed as there's a blackout here and it's finally over. hopefully can kill my migraine with a shuteye. will write my own review on note 3 when i'm free(most probably on saturday). but right now to make it short, i have no issues like dead pixel or overheating so far, but like uncle benny888 mentioned, the faux leather back is sticky, and attracts dust(hopefully this isn't happening to anyone else). most of all, my battery life is draining like crazy. 3g was on, nothing else was, but i only tried watching 5 minutes of 1080p quality anime and 5 percent gone. so this leads to a noob question, is it because i've not fully charged it before use? (on this regard, can't blame me, dad was too excited so he put on screen protector that he bought, turned on the phone immediately after putting battery in and use while charging)

"The faux leather back is sticky, and attracts dust" only happen to Black color, the white color is not sticky and not attracts to dust.
Black is smooth and easier get finger prints and dust, where the white color one is not smooth, much harder and not finger prints lover.
I had test both myself the demo set, as well the retail unit. I get white where my friend one is black.

Just that I needed a phone and Note 3 came out now, so that's it. But I must admit I'm quite tempted as well la.
I didn't watch as many tutorials as I did before when I bought my Note II. I hope Note 3 is not going to be difficult for a Note II user.
i wouldn't consider it difficult, but there are indeed lots of new things to learn, be it fun or useful stuff, and this alone really pumps me up, more than the specs and whatnot.

The word "fake" comes to mind.

oh, looks like i need to research more on s-view first, didn't expect magnets to be related since they interfere with the wacom digitizer on any note series as far as i recall.

At first I thought white easy dirty too but after I touch demo unit. It's the feeling that not dirty as easy as normal white leather.
When Note 3 was announced, my colleagues asked if I will buy it... I confidently told them, "No, I won't, not buying this time."

Few minutes can, one hour confirm cannot, even half hour already trouble.

My phone heats up like crazy, especially on data, and the battery drains much quicker than the note 2. HOWEVER I found out the source of the problem. If anyone is suffering the same fate, check google+ and dropbox and disable those damn automatic uploads!
Now I'm hitting 54°C but it cools very quickly. Highest I saw today was 62. After freezing the Google Music it remains 40 thereabouts until I start browsing.

Can, you can add others device after setup the Astro.
The WatchON mainly is for setting up as Astro remote control.
Step for setup
Select country - Malaysia.
Select TV model.
Setup Top Box - Test which signal can control your Astro channel, mine is signal 2.
After this, you can add-more device, supported device include DVD Player, Blu-ray Player, AV Receiver and Streaming Media Player. I don't see the way to add another TV set.
