Hi Guys,

I have a question. I know of websites and softwares that allows remote connection to my pc at home that allows me to control it and shut it down. But is there a software/method that allows me to start my pc when I just shut it down remotely? Meaning the power to pc still there and the modem still running. How can I start my pc remotely through that?

Regards

you're looking for WOL or wake-up-on-LAN. for this to happen you first need a mobo that is PC99 compliant. Most new mobo's support this nowadays. next, you need a network card (NIC) that supports WOL as well. find the twisted small wire that came with the NIC and connect it to the mobo (not necessary if your mobo's NIC is intergrated). go to BIOS and enable the Wake-up-on-LAN feature. finally find a WOL software like depicus WOL

to send the a signal, called a wake-up frame or magic packet to boot the PC. you may be required to know your IP and MAC address though and configure your router to forward the magic packet to the PC.
