QUOTE(armadasaxon @ Sep 24 2013, 10:43 AM) http://gigaom.com/2013/09/12/samsung-our-n...-functionality/ Limited edition note 3 to be launched next month: http://phandroid.com/2013/09/23/limited-ed...3-flexible-lcd/ QUOTE(cskean @ Sep 24 2013, 10:48 AM) Sorry guys, but whats the major different between 32bit and 64bit in Android? 64 bit will mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the timeframe of at least the next year. See JBQ's post linked in post 5. JBQ was one of the major people behind Android. And Samsung is making v1.0 of ARM's 64bit for consumers, so I think it will take a bit of time to get it right. It also needs support from Android itself to work properly. Read Anandtech's writeup on the ipong 5s review, he provided a very detailed discussion. However he also said it's going to take about 2 years before it matures.Does it mean after 64bit release, 32bit will have lesser support in term of apps? Technically speaking, the most visible benefit is allowing the CPU to address more RAM. The rest are actually a lot more obscure and has to do with register sizes and executing more instructions per second, leading to improved execution speeds. So 64 bits is nothing to clamor for right now, but it will arrive inevitably, so just wait for Note 4 or Note 5 with proper 64bit Android. As to the curved display, I don't know, I don't think the design shown in the pic is practical. Up to you if you want to pay a lot more for the limited edition. |

QUOTE(WiLyi @ Sep 24 2013, 11:13 AM) This whole SELinux thing is supposed to be good for everyone in general, but certainly bad for modders and hackers. As I said before, they put in a padlock, sold you the device, but kept the key themselves. So now you have to figure out how to unlock and relock it without letting Samsung know so as not to void your warranty. Well I mean in part it is society's problem........WHY THE HECK DO PEOPLE LOSE THEIR PHONES SO EASILY?????? This post has been edited by joytest: Sep 24 2013, 11:18 AM |

So we are left with Android, fruit and fenestre.
3 horse race? CM is a fork of the green robot, Firefox seems to have hibernated, Aliyun may or may not be alive (also a fork of the green robot), and Tizen has not been born. Will Jolla make any waves? Then there's Ubuntu Touch, also not yet born. |

No more talk of things that can go boom. If this were the US, cops would already be knocking on your door.

QUOTE(vince74 @ Sep 24 2013, 02:19 PM) Called an authorised dealer which only sell Samsung in Penang, surprised to hear that they are not sure if stock will arrive tomorrow (though he said should get). You could say it's well coordinated to start selling at Samsung's PLANNED day rather than leaking devices left, right and center.Puzzled with such launch planning (either them or Samsung Malaysia) QUOTE(guanchung @ Sep 24 2013, 02:20 PM) It's up to Samsung. For the Note 2, the 32Gb variant was only available about 2 months later. Maybe they've improved now but only Samsung can announce it. Get a 64Gb sdcard in the meantime. |

QUOTE(un_id @ Sep 24 2013, 02:32 PM) haha.. cell biology or fermentation, if that is what you are trying to say, is not my core job.. i'm not even in industrial biotechnology.. i'm actually in pure molecular biology, more towards genetics, genomics and proteomics. Wow then you may be able to help those with small hands (or other body parts) by gene therapy to encourage growth in the right places.......to hold such devices as the Note 3 and XZU of course...... QUOTE(cskean @ Sep 24 2013, 02:54 PM) I just call one of the stuff that work in one of the maxis centre in klang valley, even them are unsure about the package for Note 3. *staff*And regarding the FOC Gear by signing up on 25th Sept, according to them, only selected centres have this offer. So lets pray one of the centre near you are selected... P/S : The one I contacted is not a direct friend of mine, I got his contact from one of my very close friend.... So anyone else who has friends that work with Maxis, maybe can reconfirm on this matter... QUOTE(cskean @ Sep 24 2013, 03:03 PM) I might not be able to sign up the plan that offer by Maxis, cause according to the person, I need to port in to Maxis 1st then only can entitle for the plan. *worst*But right now already half day gone, so no need to rush, let the fate decide for me once Maxis has release the plan for Note 3... Worse case is buy @ RM2199, thats all... Yes porting in takes up to 1 week. Usually within 3 days. This post has been edited by joytest: Sep 24 2013, 03:09 PM |

QUOTE(WiLyi @ Sep 24 2013, 03:16 PM) I just contacted Maxis customer service and check about the promotion for Note 3 and the details are as following: Surfmore 75 ??? Surf More Plan 12 months contract - RM1,999 24 months contract - RM1,888 And the lady told me the free Galaxy Gear promotion is only available in KLCC, Garden, Sunway Pyramid and Danga Bay. When I asked how many Galaxy Gear available for this promotion and she said 800++. She also said we can use cc to pay the phone by installment basis. Somehow she doesn't sound confident throughout the conversation. I don't know how true is the info given by her especially the difference of phone price between 12 months and 24 months. Maybe someone can call and find out? |
