Lets clear some cloud what the Fark is Remap


First of all, I need to explain what is ECU (ECM .. whatever name you call it) .. Engine Control Unit .. Engine Control Module ..

Basically it control how the engine works.. how much fuel goes in when u have this much of air .. and the temperature is this .. and what do it do when u press the throttle .. and so on ..

** NOTE .. The ECU will link to the TCM (Transmission control unit - for AUTO CAR) .. but it does not control the Gearbox .. they communicate ..

Basically our ECU contains 1MB of ROM (ROM stands for Read Only Memory) .. actually its EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory).

So what does this 1MB contains of ? it basically contain 2 major info ...
1. The program that control your Engine ..
2. Parameters (more layman term is settings)


Simplied .. So the ECU will tell the engine what to do every now and then. So when your car running at 3000 rpm .. the air temperature is 35C .. your throttle is 30% open .. how much fuel does the engine needs ? it does NOT CALCULATE ON THE FLY .. instead it reads from the MAPPING TABLE @ Parameters @ settings..

The few major settings for our car ..
1. Ignition timing..
2. AFR (Air Fuel Ratio)
3. Mivec timings (Intake and exhaust)..

WHY AM I WRITING THIS ?
Just wanna clear the sky .. some fella will ask .. my car 1.8 hor .. u not give me 2.0 one hor ? .. my car auto hor .. you dun give me manual hor ??

okay. as what i have mention .. I alter the setting @ Parameters.. i dun change the whole ECU software for you .. just the part is required.

Does the map revert back to original when battery die or whatever sheet ?
Answer is NO .. go read up EEPROM . I already mention .. i alter the setting .. we didnt change the program. The setting only know how to read one set of MAP .. hence the ORIGINAL map is being overwrite (I kept the original map with me) .. but it will not be in your ECU anymore.

**EEPROM does not lost its memory when battery is removed.

If i am driving a 1.8 cvt ... does putting in a 2.0 cvt map into it makes it more powerful ?
No .. example .. ignition timing . it tells the engine when to FIRE the air and fuel mixture .. FUEL has a FIX amount of time it required to burn. a 2.0 has a longer stroke compare to a 1.8 .. by placing the 2.0 map to a 1.8 engine .. u are delaying the burn hence u get less power. (This one need to illustrate .. when i have mood i will tell .. lolz)

Summarize.. u cannot put 1.8 -> 2.0 ... Auto --> manual .. or vise versa ..

Default is "NO AUTO UNLOCK" ge wor ..
it will only UNLOCK when driver pull the open door .. (all will unlock)

The car dont come with AUTO UNLOCK WHEN IGNITION OFF .. however you can set in service center for AUTO UNLOCK ... FOC geh

Why The Fark is my car like no power after service ?

There are 2 major things lead to LESS POWER after service ..
1. Air filter did not fit in properly (leakage in the air flow) .. refer to first page for the solution by XC on how to clip in the air filter correctly ... YES .. PROTON SERVICE FELLA DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIT IN PROPERLY!!! ... however latest version of Lancer / ASX .. mitsubishi have redesign the air filter box .. so u wont fit in wrongly ..
- Symptom .. pedal down the accelerator .. u feel the engine LOUD .. but not moving much ..

2. Overfill of engine oil .. our car require 4.3L (MAX) .. but some service center pandai .. they pour in 5L ... the additional engine oil will burden the engine .. this will cause more power lost .. check your engine dip stick .. the best so far I felt is 4L is just farking nice ... the engine oil will be in the middle of the 2 point on the dip stick .. low and high ..

After I remove the battery .. plug back in .. the car somehow feel more powerful, why ah ?
Mapping is not done correctly, why ?
our engine comes with knock sensor .. when the timing is not right , over timed , the fuel and air mixture ignite way before they suppose to .. this will cause long term damage.. (google up knocking if you want) .. the knock sensor will pick up the signal and RETARD the timing on the ECU. (wait i have mood i will explain how to make more power out of the same engine.) .. so these information will be stored in the ECU memory (non permenant) .. it will know how much timing to retard (provided the lower zone of the mapping is able to clear the knokcing range.. else it will knock like no tomorrow) ... so when the battery power is remove .. the ECU FORGET where does it knock .. so when you plug back in and restart the car .. you feel more power (temporary until the ecu relearn back the problem)

I mention 109785 dont use the meter as a gauge for ur fc jo.. Its average fc only.. U need to self calculate to get accurate reading

Yup.. This is the correct way..
The meter measure by average travel speed and time for 100km.. So basically when u start car but not move abit... By calculation it will never reach 100km.. So it show "--.-"
