How come there's no thread regarding our local street musicians ? Street musicians here is quite rare . Maybe our local amateur musicians want to perform on the street but they are shy . The only street musician that I know is the malay guy who play his guitar at KL Sentral .

I'm really looking forward to replies as well. I'm one of those who spend weekends playing on the streets for fun. Not in KL though smile.gif

There is a new community formed for street performers late last year called Malaysian Buskers Club. The performers are occasionally given chances to perform all around Malaysia for certain events with an "all expenses paid for" trip.

Street musician is a street culture thing.

We don't even have a street culture , how to have street musicians.
I think partly it is our hot weather , and most of us walk in shopping malls.
If you perform in shopping mall without a permit confirm kena halau smile.gif

Busking is very common in other countries.

I think it's the general perception of people playing music on the streets. Older generation will think "Eiyer, don't want find a proper job or study, do all this things and ask for money"

I still think it's the way we are brought up all about study and chasing the degree, a stable job. And that's really sad. sad.gif

There are street musician in Sabah. But its been years I didn't join them after I continue my studies in peninsular malaysia.

Yes, there will be people who will look down on street musician but there are also people who appreciate them. Not all street musician don't have education. Its just shallow minded people tend to look down upon music stream.
