QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ Dec 11 2013, 06:55 PM) the cost would be high to operate both carrier and the stealth jets..politicians will not be happy with that...later they will say, malaysia at peace, no need for them ships and jets..gov should spend more money for country's development instead of spending it on Mindef, bla bla.. That one no brainer politicians, no need to heed their antiques, MAF build up of potent forces must continue according to plan and wish of the military and people like us...oops..not that kind of people like us |

No news about our military is not a good news.
While our neighbors are all hyping with all new and shining buys and toys, we are being instilled with news of no budget to buy things required, sad state of armory with not enough munition and old equipment (dont know whether disinformation or sort), but our economy is said to be ok, spending on development is like nobody business, price of all things going up like we are all rich, whats happening? |

Sad tale of malaysian military development. Always being sideline as last priority. No matter what threat perception that we have, when everything looks well again, it back to square one.

QUOTE(ayanami_tard @ Dec 14 2013, 07:29 PM) having said all that, i do hope the army to get new 105mm howitzers though Supposed to be replaced by made in malaysia Sakti 105mm howitzer a decade ago but I guess they found that the oto melaras are irreplaceable till now.the oto melara 105 really shows its age |

QUOTE(azriel @ Dec 14 2013, 08:28 PM) Besides the Leopard 2SG (Upgrade package by IBD & STK) the SAF also operates the Leopard 2A4 same as the above picture. This looks much modern and mean. Total revolution from the old one.Indonesia ordered 113 Leopard 2s from Germany that consist of 63 unit Leopard MBT Revolution (Upgrade package by Rheinmetall), 40 unit Leopard 2A4 & 10 unit Support Vehicles (Bridge Layers & ARV). https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2804712/all The Rhenmetall MBT Revolution can be seen here on display during Indo Defence Expo 2012. ![]() |

QUOTE(ayanami_tard @ Dec 14 2013, 10:08 PM) sakti... made (more like, licence-produced) by PSC-ND methink well i think we should look for our 105mm howitzer replacement. oto melara have been used since....what, emergency? i know that oto melara is a great gun, being lightweight and easily disassembled into several pieces (as expected of a mountain gun). but other 105 gun have better accuracy and longer range, not to mention C4I capability some countries ditched the 105mm guns entirely, but for me 105mm still useful especially as company-level support weapon. the army have bought several 120mm mortar carrier i think Yeah, you got a point, wait till smeo produce our own supercanggih 105mm multirole gun i guess, if you want to see a change in the lineup of our howitzers regiments. Afaik, the army has 8 120mm mortar based on the Adnan ACV300S and another 8 on order to be based on the AV8. Dont know if they have any sideorder though. |
