Guys,

Why did the Cabinet replaced our Polis Marin with APMM?Anyone knows why?
*
APMM combine all sea agency in Malaysia
Jabatan Laut, Jabatan Maritim, Jabatan Perikanan, Jabatan Taman Laut another small agency that
involved territorial water enforcement and put it ini one major agency

APMM will have jurisdiction from the coastline to 44 nautical miles off the coast, the EEZ
contiguous zone and internal waters.

PM also have similar jurisdiction and since APMM have more man power due to the merging of all the small agency
but small in asset number, there is no need of 2 agency in teh same jurisdiction.

but they failed to take notice that the PM presense are vital at some area in Malaysia as they are much more established such as Sabah and Kelantan.

You sure they dun take it seriosly?
And lolz at submarines statements.
we already say we need fac, patrol boat, and mpa to guard.
I dun expect these stuff will be procure instantly.
currently the only under going part would be kudat military base being build. Expect few more procurement to be start soon.

The point is, wasn't ESSCOM set up to prevent such incidents from happening in the first place?? What happened to the system?

U think ari ni announce.....esok take effect. We are still struggling to find manpower. U know what.... JPA stopped all perjawatan in security forces. So u establish new command u have to find personnel somewhere to fill it. So difficult maa.... even assets procurement sooo slow. Aset yg ade x cukup.... I say again x cukup langsung.

In my opinion, we don't have strong vocal presence in the parliament that highlight the military matters to the public perspective. Be it from the government or

the opposition. Yes, economy, health and education is equally important but given by the situation in Sabah this year and years to come with the LCS and other

ongoing disputes at Ambalat, the public need to be reeducated that military spending is fairly important.

"If an armed intruder broke into my house, I would not waste time negotiating. I would take my shotgun and shoot him," Abdul Ghapur had said in parliament.

I want my shotgun too, this guy can easy talk like that. But then they want to show they work too i guess.

Owh thanks for the clarification. As from what i heard, the PM was doing fine job defending Sabah waters, not sure why they're sent to guard Rivers and Beach.

everyone is making a big hoo haa about ESSCOM fail.does anyone not know the f***ing size of that place?you can't cover every inch of land

this is the nature of terrorists.they have no allegiance to any state, they look like civilians and act like civilians. You can pour billions into ESSCOM and this type of things still happen

to the servicemen on this board, keep your composure.Let them say what they want. They are able to do so because of You,the protectors of their freedom.Remember the reasons why you joined the service in the first place. Its not for the adulation of civilians. For those that work in sensitive areas(submarines, special forces, comms, etc) do not talk too much, you are endangering yourself and your comrades.

civilians will never understand. They say you dont do your job?who are they to say that? They never stepped into your shoes and did the job.as long as you know that you did your job to the best of your ability, its fine.

remember your duty to god, king and country.don't get too caught up with the BS

I think maybe we should emulate whats being done in Bali. Every evening all hotels and resorts security is supplemented by armed police who man the front and back of the premises. Now since most of the tourist areas and /or hotels are bunched close each other ....this in itself a huge surge of force and an effective deterrent.

Maybe for our Island resorts there should be permanently placed an armed presence in situ, manned 24/7 (as the resorts are few and far between).Whilst i am not devaluing human life, the modus of these terrorist groups has always been to seek out the high value targets ie. foreigners (with exceptions) be it within the Philippines or the " near abroad " ie. Sabah. Foreigners have always been regarded as high value targets not only for "healthy" ransom they generate but also for the free and continuing worldwide publicity these groups receive for the duration of the kidnapping.

But the entire area cannot be 100 % secure no matter what is put into place nor how much is spent.

from my internship experience in APMM, d main problems are lack of manpower n obsolete equipments...they alone cannot cover all d coastline in my opinion...
btw, they need to loosen up their expectations when taking new recruits sweat.gif

Err i dont think they got any equipment from the Marine Police as that unit has not been absorbed into Maritim but continues to function till today. But the different types of vessels Maritim inherited is not only obsolete but must be a logistical nightmare to operate.

not just man power but assest as well
for example Police Marine used to have 20 or more boats to patrol Sabah waters
but when 15 of the boats handed to the APMM, APMM will use the 15 not just for Sabah but the whole of Malaysia
hence the loop hole
