i have a defective maxtor dmp9 drive with me and ive done many things people normally woudnt do with HDDs: dropping onto the table, hitting it with my knuckles, knocking it on things i see and so on. nothing serious really, i just cant find a star-shaped screw driver to open it sad.gif

Seems som ppl so free they got nothing better 2 do. Why not put some mercun or jus bom it. C wht happens. Or test w/ some aqua regia tongue.gif tongue.gif

Anyway Silon, the srewdriver could easily be found @ hardware shops. Although mostly sold in a set, u may still find single ones smile.gif

just wonder. if we plug in the power. will the disc really run? kinda sceptic. cause the hard disk is kinda partially vacuum. but since its under atmospheric pressure. will there be any problem running it?

it will, just that the vacuum is so dust will not tamper with the platter inside

im assuming yes? this question is interesting. perhaps you can write in to HDD makers and suggest them to use a cool and quiet technology for HDDs laugh.gif

u know.....if this thing can work with water (in wet conditions, wet sanding), and the sand paper can be changed easily...it just might be useful for lapping jobs man...

other than that.... kinda hard to think of any use for pc-related work tongue.gif

Ace (MidValley) might have it. Ask for a "hex wrench".
