its not really worth the money to mod that model...parts might cost more than the spekers set
regular power filter caps oledi rm15 each, you need 4 etc.
unless you really wanna have fun diy, i'll tell you that 5021 cannot go far because the original speakers for the sub and sats not as good sounding in the first place (plastic cone) un natural sounding

its not as easy as you think just join wire
on the other hand i too need a kind soul to open the atp5 and 4100 volume controller because i only have the subs
*
i heard changing the opamp is the cheapest and best bang for the buck mod...
plan to change power filter cap and opamp and some crossover mod only....

Jimmy Auw did some mod and according to him its quite good
plan to do the same thing...

Added on August 12, 2010, 6:11 pmif it cost alot then i'll just mod the sub and opamp to deliver more tight punch.
i'll be using my sennheiser HD280 pro for mid and treble, the 280 pro is kinda lack in bass so i stack it up with my MX5021

playing both of them in parallel

if i were to mod it, i gonna change the fitering first before changing the opamp la... atlease easier to detect if something went wrong...

and no im not gonna make my satellite shake my table... im focusing on the bass driver now... think of ditching the satellite mod (for now) coz its gonna cost alot and furtile if the source that feed the satelite isnt good

QUOTE
mod all the signal path caps 50v 2.2uf,1uf,10uf etc. first before power filter
try not to change the original value in the signal path
QUOTE
if you are a basshead and don't give a damn about sq, just change the the signal path caps leading to sub amp chip no need for powerfilter cap mod yet until your next months pocket money received =)

this is what i had in my mind too... change the signal path caps leading to sub amp chip, powerfilter cap and opamp for bass unit
oh btw, is it good to change opamp for the sub at such early stage ?

coz im gonna use my sennheiser headphone to drive mid and treable...

heh in that case... you can just change ONLY the caps in the signal path towards teh sub amp chip
stock 4558 good enough. no need to change opamp because you ditched your sats, you will not hear anything?
powerfilter? naw... you don't need it... the original will do.... go look at the price of the signal path caps first
if you want to change the paria 'maxcaps' or caps like that, forget it... duneed to mod lah =)

headphones?? roflt you gonna use the sub just for vibrator? hahahaha ok still your choise hahah hahaaa =DDDd

actually, if you are super noobs like me.
i will, open sub count how many caps of what value write on a paper....
then... i go check the price online first befoe i go thinking about modding
befcause if you m'sian, you will spend more than 50% of the modding time looking for parts than modding it
*
totally agree... finding parts is hectic here.
im gonna use it to vibrate my table and stuff... also add more bass to my headphone... im still gonna use the sats but i have headphone over my head so i wont be able to listen to anything that come out from my sats.

gonna save up around a few hundret bucks and start my modding sometimes soon XD

Thanks for the advise.

a more practical source would be preferred...
like a shop to purchase these parts...
