QUOTE(~@.@~ @ Dec 18 2007, 02:05 AM) Hi, SkyDriver...could provide some tips on the cable modin to improve the sound.... just connect it with bigger speaker cable will do.could it apply to any 2.1 pc speaker system??? for the DIY stereo cable, its easy, but if you want to make a strong and well cable, really need some skills (experiences) ps : make sure the cable did not short circuit depends on the input / output, if same then ok. Added on December 19, 2007, 12:26 am QUOTE(Faint @ Dec 18 2007, 08:25 AM) The MX5021 stock cable sucks, but till now i haven replace it by other cable go to electronic shops and choose the bigger (thick) cable. This post has been edited by SkyDriver: Dec 19 2007, 12:26 AM |

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jan 20 2008, 10:27 PM) just saw the skydriver MX5021 modding...I saw the removed dust shield of ur satellite, the shield was glued original, right? and wanna ask u whether got listened to the "original" MX5021 or not? How the sound compared to the so called "cut cost" version of MX5021? because sometimes said it is cut cost product just judging in term of the numbers of electronic component used inside is not fair(The earlier version is 3-way crossover, latter version 2-way)....because i saw the earlier version of MX5021 satellite midrange drivers are flat at center, the redesign of crossover maybe due to changes of that drivers... I did not remove the satelite dust shield, not sure either it's glued or not.I dont have the old (original) version, but i read from a review claims that new version isnt THX certified. still remember VS4121? (cut cost product from AL...) the diff is not only the caps in satelite, but the outlook of the speaker inside (satelite and even woofer) who know the quality got effected or not? ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by SkyDriver: Jan 21 2008, 01:27 AM |

QUOTE(Faint @ Jan 21 2008, 05:56 PM) Are you sure the new version of MX5021 has no THX certified ? i mean a review website claims that new version doesnt meet the THX certified level, im not sure about it (since we cant even measure it)What can i do to meet the THX certified ? ntg we can do "to make" the speaker to meet the THX certified, since its certify by a company. (already certified) QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jan 22 2008, 12:14 AM) since the THX company didnt take back the title, we still assume the MX5021 is THX certified...This post has been edited by SkyDriver: Jan 22 2008, 11:08 PM |

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jan 23 2008, 02:57 AM) RM400+? where u get that price?i saw the price list from pczone of lawyat, FX4021 cost RM595, 10 more than 5021.... personally, MX5021's bass is very blurry, unlike klipsch GMX-A (the bass is punching clearly). MX5021 very good in low bass extension, and the mid range full and rich, but the high frequency a bit less...but it isn't problem for me, I won't trust any default sound on ANY SPEAKER, i only use WINAMP to listen song, i just tune the equalizer to compensate the lack of high frequencies, 12-16khz i raise 4dB, 3-6khz pull down 2dB, this adjustment is enough to reproduced the "crisp" treble...MX5021 is tunable, really.... adjust the EQ means you spoilt the song composer's setting, who used few hundred thousands in editing equipment. |

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jan 23 2008, 02:11 PM) "adjust the EQ means you spoilt the song composer's setting", this is common phrase i heard so much time...but please keep in mind that unless u are using the EXACTLY same speaker as the composer, if not equalizer tuning is unavoidable...of course must know how to tune, if not really will spoilt it (if u tried or saw the audio system used in performance purpose, NO ANY of them are flat in EQ, impossible) you got your own point, but i still prefer to keep the original sound for home use, and there's another story for those pro audio system.QUOTE(hpares @ Jan 23 2008, 10:49 PM) Btw anyone using MX5021 and change the satelite cable? Coz i can hear cracking sound, juz bought around 2 month, should not so fast spoil gua. what kind of sound card that you're using? |

QUOTE(hpares @ Jan 24 2008, 04:25 AM) My is not hissing sound. It sound like "pak" almost like Fm radio or TV when the are tunning. I deno how to explain. Juz sound like "pak" during movie or song. Pak 1 time only. Wont continous pak 1. But in 1 song should got 2 or 3 times . I deno how to explain. Juz hope changing thesatelite wire will help. This is unusual case, try to test your speaker with other input (such as dvd player, handphone, mp3player...)btw, the "pak" sound came out from tweeter only? or? i guess there's something wrong with your power board or sound card This post has been edited by SkyDriver: Jan 24 2008, 10:35 PM |

personally, the subwoofer of MX5021 is totally suks when i compare it with klipsch gmx's subwoofer. (darn blurry bass from mx5021).
**i'm not comparing the power of the output, but the sound quality... sound card : prodigy 7.1 front speaker : MX5021 rear speaker : GMX setup (setting) : clone 4-way form out 1, 2 |

QUOTE(TaQ @ Jan 25 2008, 11:12 PM) skydriver: hm.... the bass feels like its seperated from the tweeter? ... maybe its d crossover .... cause it feels like dat on some songs 2 me ... i miss my creative FPS2000 hahahah not seperated from the tweeter, just blurry...Added on January 25, 2008, 11:16 pm on muddy bass ... yeah ... i feel it 2... but d bass sounds like d speakers from d huge system i mentioned earlier ... so maybe its jus designed like dat .... with GMX, i can hear the "bass hit" clearly, even i can count it... 1st hit, 2nd hit, 3rd, 4th.... but MX5021 just produce the continuous "bass hit", non-stop between two hit. QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jan 25 2008, 11:36 PM) Blurry bass? Need Puncy upfront bass? Then i think other than klipsch GMX, the bass from AL VS4121 should suit ur both taste...just guess only... VS4121? the bass make me sick. QUOTE(Faint @ Jan 26 2008, 10:51 AM) I think they means the MX5021's bass not tight enough ?! But VS4121 totally out of this, its bass seems like the woofer box got one big hole tight? solid?the bass is powerful, but sound flat... QUOTE(coolkwc @ Jan 27 2008, 08:51 PM) Yap, in the same hostel, vs4121 bass sound really can spread further distance compare with MX5021, but i don't feel that bass sound is better than MX5021.. maybe the VS4121 is designed for blurry bass too personally i don't agree with lowering the treble furthermore because i feel that the treble "not so clear" or "not crisp enough" in default unless u are watching movie, but i do agree that the bass "thud(blur/aftereffect)thud(blur/aftereffect)thud" make the bass effect more depth and undirectional, with proper placement of the subwoofer and some EQ tweaking(i still stand on my point that EQ tweaking is unavoidable but for me the "muddy/blur/continuous" bass between two hit is somewhat a "connector" on it, the bass is continuous...so this is just the taste matter of different user, this is not because AL wrongly design this kind of "suck/muddy,blur" bass, i define it as "soft bass", many hardware review said it is revolution redesign of the woofer unit and totally different from previous model which well known as "bass boomer", so don't said MX5021 bass is suck just because compare to the puncy bass u like, is unfair, they are just two kind of totally different design...need puncy/upfront bass? just go for klipsch GMX or logitech Z-XX00 series or maybe...tight/solid/puncy car audio... well, the mx5021 really sound better with 2/5 (volume setting for treble and bass)... |

the pic is in my directory (you can check it from the file path)
anyway, i found it from a reviews website which claims the new version isnt THX certified. i have no idea since never comparing new and original version side by side... personally, the bass is blurry and the treble is crispy (note : satelite caps is diff for both version) |

QUOTE(coolkwc @ Apr 24 2008, 11:18 PM) i don't think same class as AegoM....Maybe AL FX6021 same class with it... same class in price...MX5021 same class as Klipsch GMX2.1 and Logitech Z-2300, these 3 all were THX certified, and the price also neck to neck performance losing quite alot to klipsch gmx-a 2.1 (gmx not thx certified if no mistaken)... |
