max is rm400 i guess
most important is during night, must be quite good

Viofo A119/A119s is really good and pretty much the most recommended at that price point.. See blurjoey's signature for his in-depth reviews.

hm.... any recommended place to buy? would prefer if less than 300 la. if can haha

You can get it from the usual popular online stores.. Probably from Garage Sales section here on Lyn too. My advice, don't settle for performance less than the A119. Especially since your budget is so close to its price. Just add the little RM and be satisfied in one shot. If buying the A119, make sure it's the V2 (hardware revised) as it comes with better connectivity to its GPS module. CPL filter is optional.

I would go with A119... Still read the reviews, watch the videos for comparison and decide for yourself..

Viofo A119 is more popular as cheaper than A119S as A119S using Sony Starvis sensor.

But I don't think you can get it less than rm300.

Read more here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4010333
I got mentioned where to buy in the last reply in the thread. But do be careful as some seller sells the GPS mounts individually instead of a set.

And almost all A119/A119S is V2 now.

Viofo A119 & Viofo A119S which one better? gps & cpl fitter included?
*
See above.. Next time, please use the search feature.. Comes in handy. Blurjoey's reviews have videos with and without CPL filter.. View at full res on a decent screen to observe differences. GPS is up to you lah and mounting position.

QUOTE(ck2006 @ Feb 3 2018, 10:11 AM)
Thanks, Bro. For my 1st dashcam, my budget is bellow 300 (include 32/64gb sd card). Now i looking:-
1. Xiao Mi Mijia -- Screen
2. Xiao Yi (single port) -- screen

3. Xiao Mi 70 Min -- no screen
4. Autobot Eye HD -- no screen

Any suggestion?
*
All you have to do is take a look at his signature for links to the reviews he's already done on the dashcams within your budget.. Then pick one based off their performance. RM300 minus a good 32GB Microsd card doesn't leave room for much and so manage your expectations.. He's already put in the work to review the cams, least we can do is to check and decide..

Sorry, I can't stand extreme spoonfeeding with info readily available.

Because I trimmed the video so it lost quality there. but even the RAW file cant show the number plate clearly.
*
I think much can't be done.. I suggest you use as is and wait for either the update to the A119 and upgrade or the next Viofo hardware release that's been teased.. For now, incase of an accident, etc.. The cam as is will show who's at fault.. Hopefully that's enough for a report than clear license plate. Last resort, eyes and brain.. smile.gif

QUOTE(RigerZ @ Feb 4 2018, 08:29 AM)
Even high-end dash cams have this problem?
*
Well, I can't say for sure as those are outside my budget and I've never properly researched them. Besides, it's at night and given that exact situation. It's really no biggie if you don't get the plate. Unless in an accident, which means the car would have stopped or yours gotten closer and slower enough to grab the plates. To me, a dashcam's primary purpose is to protect me from funny claims of he said, she said.. Malaysia or not, there'll always be that other driver that pulls a fast one. I just drive defensively and move on.. Not worth wasting my time arguing over who hit who or who's right when I can be at my destination, conclude my biz and back with family..

So basically, my 2 cents is... If you're willing to get the high-end ones? Sure by all means, go for it. It'll help in those rare cases of hit and run. Else a good budget cam is sufficient. For me, my acceptable minimum would be the Viofo A119.

Hope so too cuz a family member is in the market for a new dashcam. Told her to wait a bit more for its release. Hoping for better performance at budget pricing.

Ok many thanks guess I will head there.

Just another thing which the is recommended I saw to of models and it’s getting confusing.
*
No need to be confused..
Step 1: At least read this page and perhaps other pages. On this page alone, you can definitely see a model.
Step 2: Check out prices of recommendations + installation + good quality memory card and be sure fits budget.
Step 3: See reviews and pick cam and card that fits.
Step 4: Call ahead to confirm stock availability and secure appointment date and time to install.
Step 5: Get it done..

See, that wasn't hard is it.. tongue.gif

I bought the Mini 0906 dashcam and finally gotten around to install it in my wife's car yesterday.

I think I paid about RM500 for this baby, and it's the best bang for the buck in this price range.

- Proper 2-channel dashcam that has decent quality Sony chipped cameras front + rear
- Records in proper full HD 1080p front *AND* in 1080p rear simultaneously
- Runs off a capacitor. No battery to fcuk up in the noon heat.
- Has a small 1.5" screen to check image coming in from front & rear cameras. Very handy when setting up.
- Comes with a hardwire kit that enables parking mode if hooked up directly to battery
- Has built-in GPS that logs location & speed.
- Comes with a circular polarized filter to cut glare off the windscreen.

Pretty easy to install myself, which saves money from paying cutthroat accessories shop to do the job.

I simply refuse to pay close to RM1000 for the other swanky dashcams, so this Mini 0906 is just perfect for me.

Wife bought a high endurance 64GB microSD card for this unit. Will check the recordings after CNY. Tempted to buy another unit for my Sorento next...

Can get from here... Do check other online stores and the Garage Sales section for a better deal or faster delivery. IMO, I prefer to buy local whenever I can. Might cost a bit more but can get my hands on a new toy faster.. biggrin.gif

hi guys, i have read at least 10 pages of this topic and a couple extra of reviews smile.gif as i usual do the skim of 3 pages and was afraid of being told off when i was skimming through on of the pages tongue.gif
basically i came in here looking for a dashcam that met a few of my criterias
-wide angle of view
-good night vision view
-not too big that intruders may break in for it
-rm 500 (willing to go rm1000 if worth the difference)

it seems that 2 cameras fit my criteria, difference is one is just front and the other is front and back.
-Viofo a119s (usd(i think) 120)
-Thinkware f800 pro (rm2000-ish) ohmy.gif
prices gained from link on jwtechreviews.com

to me in my opinion, i dont see a need for a back dashcam, but in your opinion, is it necessary or worth it?
plus is there a new model coming out soon? am not in a hurry if there is as my car isnt out yet. just wanna be prepared smile.gif

and another thing, i google searched EA Auto, (is that where it can bought and installed?) and ended with 2 shops, one in nalai and the other in puchong. which one is it?

thanks a lot guys
*
IMO, if one doesn't mind spending the extra amount, it's a good idea to have both front and back covered. Lots of mentally troubled cases driving around lately. Recently, I watched a video where someone did a uturn and scratched a parked car. Parked car driver gave chase with his brother, only for his brother get stabbed in the thigh when they finally caught up with offending car. Now, I'm not saying you should chase down nut cases. But if it had been your rear that got scratched or dented, wouldn't you at least want to know which car plate did it? That's just one scenario..

You could get 2 Viofos or how about the BkueSkySea Mini 0906? The Thinkware @ 2K... It's prolly worth it but I've learnt to steer clear of toys outside my comfortable budget sweat.gif

blurjoey reviews are available in plain sight.. As for different prices, your first time shopping online? I know and apologize if you took offense. notworthy.gif Wasn't meant to be. It's a different tactic I employ now to get more and more people comfortable in doing their own simple quick research versus extreme spoonfeeding. It's a thing that some people ask for recommendations and when offered, they ask more questions about said recommended device without realizing that the answers they seek is already available through a single search and so rather than waiting for generic answers to generic questions. They get what they want.. Boom!

Anyone using thinkware F770 or F800 pro?
Can share how is night and raining weather video quality is it clear to see car number?

Do we have local seller or only can buy from lazada/11 street?
*
Thinkware F770 review by blurjoey. This has day and night time videos. View on a good high res display for max seeing...
Thinkware F800 Pro.. Yes, you can get either from online shops like lazada.

As for view quality in the rain. You can check YouTube videos. Personally, I won't expect much especially as the cams will be behind one's windshield and as we all know clarity during rain, heavily depends on the view out of the windshields. Wipers and glass no good, makes image blurry.. There are no cheap sensors and on-the-fly/post-processing that can help. I say cheap cuz the really good capable tech will obviously be quite expensive and won't make profit in the mass market today. This ain't some CSI TV episode where characters say enhance and magically the blurry cropped up image becomes UHD.. laugh.gif laugh.gif So have to manage your expectations and remember that most times, both your car and the other plate number are moving images, not still and centered. There's no magic in science. Just best efforts.

I watch different brand expecting this premium price video quality but video quality seem not much different. Blackvue and thinkware if budget allow both are good choice.

Any middle range price front and rear camera can recommend?
*

That's what I think too.. IMO, the Thinkware F800 Pro comes recommended as a great cam for day and night time. For lower priced ones, seems like the Mini 0906 comes recommended.

IMO I think the F770 have better image quality than the F800 Pro. Hoping a firmware update will improve it.

Also, Thinkware and Blackvue limit the file size to 1 min (100mb) and lower bit rate for easierviewing/ transfer via wifi.
*
I see... i was looking at it from the freeze frame and zoom into plate number results. Seems like the F800 Pro won in that department. Wasn't looking at the overall pq. I still feel such prices are too rich for me to splurge on a dash-cam, rather put it into more engine power and vehicle stability. But for those who want the absolute best.. Do carry on. it's good stuff. If too worried about smash and grab, time to get a security tint on. A good one requires a significant number of heavy hits to be smashed. Hopefully deter the robber.
