Hi sifus,

is BlueSkySea B1W the best dashcam for budget under RM200?

Any recommendation on the cheapest place to purchase it?

I'd recommend to get it from Lazada site, because a lot of AliExpress sellers list on Lazada as well. Pricing is more or less the same, sometimes even cheaper and shipping time has improved a lot with the Lazada Global Express shipping. Last 3 months, the shipping time is horrible on AliExpress.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.. Even here on lowyat.net forum. Some post in /K section. Just be careful and not post videos of simple incidents cuz it'll ruin people's lives for real. Only hard-core road rage or hit n run type stuff. Upload such and sit back.. /K detectives will work the case.. nod.gif

Can explain how will it ruin people's lives? Not sure how post in /k section will help. Thought if there is a place for sharing, then maybe everyone or police can aware of those repeating offenders/road bully.

This is the internet. Once certain information is available.. It's very hard if not impossible to scrub the information. There are law enforcement or at least linked guys in /K and with just plate number.. They reveal some information about the owner.. Next you know, the fella's social media pages are revealed, pictures with innocent family, addresses.. Etc. Then the real bullying starts. Too much bashings and some lose their jobs from too much negativity as their company will be affected too... It really snowballs..You do not want to be the reason the breadwinner of a family loses a job and finds it hard to get another. Hence, only upload real nasty or take the time to blur out plates.

Yes, we want better more civil drivers. But weigh the pros and cons before you decide out of personal feels to upload such videos in public domain. IMO, a dashcam is primarily there to capture footage for insurance purposes or interesting scenery and weird incidents for personal keepsakes. Not to police the roads.

Hi all. I'm comparing these 2 dashcams:
(1) Blueskysea B1W (with Hardwire)
(2) VIOFO A119 v2 (with Hardwire, GPS & CPL)

Price of A119v2 is double of B1W. I'm not sure whether it's worth. Need some advice.
(FYI, I drive 70km a day, car park is non-covered. Purpose of getting dashcam: Evidence for accident on the road & parking.)

- Is GPS feature very important?
- Between the two, which is more durable? and more reliable? (e.g. video records always downloadable/playable)
- Playback via app better or the display?

Thanks.

IMO GPS is unnecessary.. unless your a a fleet, then it would start to make sense.

The latter has been on the market much longer, but both gets good reviews. Your memory card plays a role as well, so its not all in the device fault for non-record/corrupted file.

Honestly, if you really need to use the video as evidence, you are not going to view it on the device. Will copy to a proper device with bigger screen (eg; external monitor). Been there, done that. Thus on app still need to download as video file, then it would be moved onto a removable device. Transferring via any mobile app would introduce further video compression/loss of detail. At most you would use the screen to aim/adjust position during install.

Which type of memory card is more suitable for dashcam? endurance?

Another question - Will hardwire void my car warranty?

From my own experience, I've never had any SD card fail, but it is an essential part of the dashcam. So get a genuine unit from any reputable brand (sandisk/kingston/etc).

As for hardwire, depends..hard to say, you need to consult your vehicles warranty terms for that.

B1W is considered entry level dashcam whereas the A119 is more mid-range level dashcam.

The A119's parking mode gets the job done but not yet that stable. Korean dashcams have the best parking mode but expensive.

GPS is considered a good to have not a must-have feature.

A119 is considered to be the better brand with good build quality. B1W has wifi and A119 don't

You can get an OTG card reader and watch it on your phone or PC. I find it faster than waiting for it to download via wifi.

PS - Nowadays no more A119/A119S V1 anymore. All is V2. So need to worry getting the V1.

A129 is going to start selling early June 2018.

A129 is a totally new model from the A119 series.

You can read it in my A129 review: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4583698

Avoid Sandisk Ultra cards as it will die in less than a year if used in dashcams. Samsung Evo Plus is a good card to use. So it's those High Endurance cards from Sandisk, Transcend and Samsung but expensive. Anyway these cards have a lifespan of about 2-3 years when it read and writes most of the time in dashcams.

Warranty will depend on your car manufacturer which I think they will say void warranty.

Overall best capacitor dashcam is Viofo A119 series.

DDPai Mini 3 is considered ok as still new and no issues yet like it's earlier siblings.

Save a bit more to about rm500 and get the mini0906.

RM300 for dual dashcam is most probably lousy specs with 720p rear cam and using a lithium battery.

Can also wait for Viofo A129, but price not finalized. Maybe around rm600-800 range. Coming in early June 2018.
